Why Hollywood Didn't Respect Redd Foxx When He Died - Here's Why

Комедия

www.hypeplustv.com/ - Redd Foxx for many is considered one of the greatest comedians to step on stage. Despite reaching mass success with his show Sanford And Son, at the end of his life it was revealed that Hollywood failed to treat the legend as he should. Della Reese also was very upset when he went through his tax issues. She said her and Foxx lived together has they were trying to make it in Hollywood. She said Red Foxx put A lot of people on and took care of A lot of people once he made it, and she hated no one came to his rescue to help. R.I.P Redd Foxx

I don’t think it was a person that he knew was from St. Louis that he didn’t help in show business. I even heard Pat Marita from Karate Kid and a few episodes of Sanford Son damn near cry in speaking about how Redd Foxx helped him.

I remember hearing a story how Redd Foxx (RIP) helped out the legendary R&B singer Ruth Brown (RIP) after she had left the music business and was working regular jobs to just to get by. In 1975, she went to a club where Redd Foxx was in St Louis performing because a co-worker friend of hers didn't believe that she really knew Redd Foxx. When she got to the club she gave one of the employees a note to give to Redd Foxx and he said something to the effect of "Ruth Brown, bring her back here right now!". They met up and talked for awhile and after that Redd Foxx promised that he would send for her. About a week later he flew her out to LA and her career was resurrected big time because of Redd Foxx. She won Grammy & Tony Awards in 1989.

I finally watched sanford and son a year ago, and oh my fu**kin god, man what a show!!!!!! The funniest episode was when lamont, his pops and the puerto rican dude, went to the restaurant, and fred made lamont mad and he walked out, and while he drank his drink (garbage) , he said to the waiter, "hey negro come here", i damn near choked on my water when i heard that 😂😂😂😂, RIP ReddFoxx

People must have forgotten about the showbiz's motto of No matter what "the show must go on!" This is the standard practice in showbizness when Paul Walker died they used his brother to finish the movie. Think about all the people behind the scenes who are not rich actors that depend on that movie or tv show so they can feed their kids or pay that high a33 $5k month rent in California. When Jamie Foxx got sick they had to finish because that's how many people got paid. Look at this whole strike situation. Most people working in Hollywood are not wealthy A-list actors or directors. Most of these people are barely making it imagine not getting paid because Jamie Foxx got sick. He is a multi-millionaire. Jamie got brown sugar bourbon costing as high as $95 a bottle, the best paddle costing $99 to $200 each, he is a musician and comedian plus he still got movies coming out on stream and in movie theaters. His income hasn't stopped not one bit. People didn't even know he was out of the hospital. Where was Jamie Foxx when everyone else is picketing for better pay in Hollywood? In Chicago on a darn Yacht living his best life. Redd Foxx isn't the first nor will he be the last. Redd chose that showbiz life and everything that comes with it. www.buzzfeed.com/crystalro/actors-who-died-while-making-a-movie

I remember when he died. It didn't seem like it was covered that much but it was in a time where there was no social media but didn't think much about it as i was only 12. I honestly didn't know how great Redd Foxx was as a comedian until years after he died listening to a tape of him. I think his (more cleaner more commercial friendly) Sanford and Son career overshadowed his career in Raunchy style Comedy as while he was an innovator, at the time he was doing that style of comedy I don't think it was widely known or accepted. He was raunchy and edgy before it was popular to be so. if he would have died in the Social media era, he would have gotten more props. I think he was pretty respected in the Black community, but I suspect Hollywood was only aware more of his Sanford and Son career, as he didn't do too many movies like a Richard Pryor. He was seeming though getting a resurgence right before he died as he just got through doing Harlem Nights (which he did great in) and started back TV with his sitcom.
