Too many players with no real pride in the shirt, and a succession of teams that have simply not had real team spirit.

The answers is - they havent underachieved. Their golden generation started at earliest in 2018. Since then, they have finished 3rd, 2nd, and T-5th (losing to eventual finalist) in those competitions. I know success is defined on trophies, but England is still the one of the highest performing teams during that time frame and their golden generation has not yet peaked. Euro 2024 may be the inflection point though.

Likewise. When I saw England's loss at the 2021 Euros, and see almost every non-English person, even those who aren't football fans, celebrate the fact that England lost... I couldn't do anything but feel bad for England... Though TBF there were a few scumbags who gave the entire fandom a bad image, which seemingly made the celebrations justifiable, but still...
