I bought my street 500 for a beginner bike and because of the harley quality. Im not impressed at all. After 3 years, it just had the neck bearings replaced due to lack of grease from the factory. The throttle cable is cracked and rusting, exposed wiring, functions not working (the front switch for the brake light), mirrors are trash, resale is horrible. I love the bike, for me it is perfect. Just not happy with the quality.

That's a Harley thing. Not a street 500 thing. :D . Shit goes bad and it's expensive to fix and annoying to get through. Harley tends to have bigger issues with that. My first build was a 77' Kawasaki 750. Still drive it all the time and it has 20,000 miles on it now. Then the 07' Suzuki 750. Nothing wrong with that one. Then my show bike. 12' Hayabusa. nothing wrong with it. Now, The 4 Harley bikes I had. All had breakdowns after 6-8 months and it wasn't small things. Same as yours, neck bearing. Cracked Cables. Stuck piston. Gasket blowing after 400 miles. All of these issues aren't "Major" in terms of fixing it myself. But It's a damn Harley. It shouldn't have happened.

@@YouMotorcycleit outperforms the Sportster 883 and 1200 in every single area except torque. It also has a six speed. It’s liquid cooled which sure it’s not traditional but that’s why it destroys the Sporty…. Hell it has as much HP as a twincam 88 and some 95/96s Big twins. Dual front discs…. Piggyback rear shocks that are adjustable….All that for 8k. Aside from the weird riding position and a few cheaper plastic parts that’s reasonable. Especially if you are wanting that VTwin growl and Harley vibe. To top it off unlike other Harley’s you get a high revving 9000 rpm motor with a wide power band that just keeps on pulling as an offset to lower torque. I am gonna have to disagree on this one. I think it was a poorly marketed genius idea…. I think they thought so too low key…. The new Sportster S and Nightster are clearly in the same vein….. High revving muscle cruisers masquerading as sport bikes.

It has been my observation that Harley riders hate anything different built by the Motor Company that is not 1) air cooled, 2) push rod operated, 3) roller bearing big ends 4) feet forward styling.

Tell me about it. I'm a V-Rod owner. My bike used to be the most hated Harley. But man, when you have experience on premium machines, all of the "economy compromises" on the Street really show and it's unfortunate.

I believe that Harley has lost its way in part because they can't build anything that their core fans like and in part because what they do build, that their core fans like, dosen't sell. They are left with putting really nice paint on the same tins. I was a Marketing Manager at an H-D dealer and I lived this. I sat in a meeting for the release of the 2019 models. I said "So, you want me to build excitement for the "new model" release when all I have is 2018s in different colors, and updated radio and an improved rear-end in the Tri-Glide?" They told me that I just wasn't with the program. Harley is doomed.

@@brock3426 That's quite pricey for a first bike. You could get a lot more bike for your buck, and save quite a bit, looking in the used market. I like the Iron though.

I live in Australia and got the street 500 recently as my first LAMS approved motorbike. I'm aware that it is not a "real" harley but as an entry level cruiser it sounds and looks way better than the vstar etc. Has a stage 1 with vance n hines, 3 inch tank lift, forward controls, higher mounted mirrors and lowered 2 inches on the ass to name a few mods. If you have a full licence you don't even look at the street range but considering I picked it up for 5k Aud and it had 8k on the clock and brand new they are 10k it's a great buy imo. How are they going to make a true harley and sell them for 10k out the gate, unsustainable.

Yes I tested one when I worked for Harley-Davidson. I've also been on a dozen other 500-750cc street bikes which handled much better. My Aprilia Shiver 750 is a prime example. Premium suspension straight from factory.

YouMotorcycle you’re comparing a street/style bike ‘The Aprilia Shiver’ which has a border line racing design that’s a light weight performance bike, with a bike that’s effectively a light weight cruiser, ‘HD XG750’. I think ol’mates point is it’s the best handling cruiser style bike ...... which isn’t far from the truth 🤔 XG500/750’s aren’t my kinda bike, but you can’t deny they handle better than any other Harley due to the weight/design. I agree they are cheap & look/feel it. You can’t compare cruiser designs with street racers ...... all cruisers suck in the handling/cornering department compared to racers/super motards/dirt bike designs. ‘Victory Vegas Jackpot’ is my bike of choice. Or a good HD Dyna. 😎🤙🏽

@@FIVExTIGERS it isn't a cruiser style bike. Look at the ergonomics. It's a UJM style bike. The ergonomics are very similar to the Shiver's, which looks aggressive but is very much an upright seated at the kitchen table kind of position.

You called it a better handling Harley than any other... I have a first gen V-Rod Night Rod. Are you really sure the Street would do better in canyon carving at a good speed?

YouMotorcycle Well I guess it’s a matter of opinion isn’t it. The XG500/750’s are a lightweight cruiser design to me. I mean it’s obvious they’re trying to still appeal to that ‘cruiser Harley look’ even though it’s a cheap imitation by a manufacturer that can and has done better with their bikes. But let’s be real it’s an entry level boys bike, which learners can ride. So it’s good for what it is imo. The shiver is a street design to me, I don’t consider them to be similar in anyway, aside from sharing two wheels. Hell its almost a Super-Motard in design when I look at it. I’d expect it to handle well and have great torque but shite topend. Once again haven’t ridden it so my opinion is an assumption. I’m going off the ‘look’ of the bike 🤷🏽‍♂️ Haven’t ridden the Nightrod bike yet, I’ve heard good things but I wouldn’t know the machine personally mate. But I have ridden a Victory Jackpot (fucking love the Victory’s designs 🤤😎🤙🏽) and that beast handles surprising well for a BIG bike! To bad Polaris only makes Indians now 😒

I think youre missing the point. Its an entry level Harley for learners, a hook into the brand. A bike for those that aspire to a big block Harley but dont have the means, or the full bike licence. Would a typical leaner go out and buy a new Fatboy?

With all due respect, the brake issue has been resolved. There was a recall on the brakes and has been fixed not only on the already existing road-going Street models, but the new ones on the sales floors as well. Just my two cents :)

Agree, the issue was fixed, but let's think about that for a minute. This wasn't a recall on some issue of new technology. This was a recall on BRAKES. Harley has been doing disk brakes for decades and decades. They know how to do disk brakes right. They work with brands like Brembo and Nissin who make some of the best and most reliable brakes out there as well as some of the best performing brakes out there. They know who to get brakes from and how to use them. But they decided, "this bike doesn't get nice things", and they cheaped out on the brakes, and put a crappy set up on there to save a few bucks... That's kind of what this video is all about. The motor company cheaping out too much on the Street family. If we think back a little bit we can see that this isn't the first Harley brake-related recall. In fact, there was one a year before on their big, premium bikes (CVO Touring, V-Rod) as well. But that was an ABS-related thing. ABS in Harley-Davidsons is something that's only been around just over a decade. Unfortunately, that's relatively new in motorcycle technology terms. BUT STRAIGHT UP DISK BRAKES?! We've had disk brakes on motorcycles since 1965. That's over half a century ago. Harley has had disk brakes since 1972. How much does Harley have to cheap out on braking to get wrong what they've been doing for 47 years? And of all the things to cheap out on... brakes?! 😳

YouMotorcycle my thing is this. I get the street isn’t the best bang for buck we agree on that. But by that argument no Harley is or ever will be. Look at the sportster do you think they are worth the price? If you do their are a lot more affordable metric bikes. I bought a street triple r and some people think I paid way to much others don’t. Some say they are complete junk others don’t. I agree their are better bikes but you don’t get much for $7500. Now of course if you buy used you can but to me buying used is risky as well.

I have a 2016 street 750 and love it!! Don't understand all the negativity towards it.. It is different from all the other Harley's 'I know,but I enjoy it a lot. I have had 3 Sportsters, a Dyna Lowrider, and currently have an 03 Electra Glide Classic with sidecar. To each their own. It has enough power to do what I need it to. Would I change a few things.. Yes ,but I do that to all my bikes I have owned anyway.

Yes same here I got 2016 street 750, I change the headlights to LED, roll bar, two lights on the rollbar, screaming eagle exhaust I took off the muffler just straight big pipe, sound loud, I have to have ear plugs all the time. Saddle bags. It really looks like a small Harley. I ride it San Diego to San Francisco with no problem, took me 12 hours, gas stops and just sightseeing. I wish I got 120 MPH on speed coz I max mine 110 mph, but still I had fun with till now.

I have a 2015 750 and have loved it! Never had an issue. It's been very reliable and fun to ride. I think the hate comes from the same type of situations you'd find in High School. You might wear a regular Polo shirt, but it's not actually a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt, so somebody always has to think THEY are better than you because you're not cool enough to have an authentic Ralph Lauren. If YOU enjoy your bike, that's all that matters. I can guarantee you that I could look at ANYONE'S bike who rags on the 500 or 750 and find things I can't stand or hate about them. Don't even put out a video like this if you don't have nice things to say. (Didnt your mother teach you something similar??) Why try to make people think YOU are better than them because of the bike YOU ride as opposed to theirs!?!

I paid $4300 for mine and it’s a great ride and very reliable. Have had it for 3 years with no problems, it runs cooler than traditional Harleys, and it’s very maneuverable and fun to ride. To each their own I guess.

As long as you're enjoying it and you feel good riding it, that's what matters. There are some very nice bikes that I would be miserable on but friends of mine would love, and vice-versa. Like you said, to each their own.

I have a 2019 street 750 and have put almost 12k miles on it. Maintenance is done by HD and have taken it on long trips with 0 problems. I think it's how your going to ride is what makes a difference. Great bike all around. Obviously cant compare it to other HD as its totally different machine

If you ride it hard and actually have fun with it will it cause me problems? I have a street 500 and I ride the thing like a damn sport bike don’t really go over 70 but I’m ripping corners and accelerating hard I babied it when I first got it. It was a msf. Course bike that I ended up getting with 300 miles on it. Didn’t really give it balls till around 700ish. Miles. It now has 2k runs fine but I worry if I have to be gentle with it for it to last any thoughts ?

So far into my research, although there are a lot of contenders, the street's direct competitor imo for a 750 cruiser with a similar body type is the Vulcan S. And most people seem to be leaning more on that one, myself included. Very informative video! Thanks.

I took my MSF course on a Street 500. While I get all of your points about this bike, I actually liked it... I'm only 5'7" so it was def comfortable for me. I like the concept of Harley building a beginner bike but they could've done a much better job representing they're quality and ingenuity.

That's basically it. I don't really blame them for building some overseas, making it liquid cooled, etc, it's just... Why TF did they have to make it so cheaply finished compared to other 500 and 750cc bikes on the market? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Plenty of options. Literally anything. Around here you can get a Vulcan 500 for like $1,500.

I was given the 15 street 750 with a few modifications (mirrors, exhaust, ETC) I completely love this bike. Sure it took some modifications , but I completely love it. I consistently outpull the Suzuki that I do group rides with. It isnt a perfect bike, but I'm no perfectionist. I wouldn't trade my street 750 for the world

I bought a used Street Rod 750 a couple of years ago. Some guy bought it new and was a afraid of it and hardly ever rode it. I couldn't get over how well it ran. I wasn't too crazy about the riding position, but it handled pretty well. I had a couple of close calls with it and some cars, so I thought I was done riding. I sold it and now I wish I had it back!

The moment u mentioned that u were working for Harley u discredit urself. Why do Harley sales staff not want to sell the cheaper bike?? Cause they make less comission...that simple. It's a good bike n even looks nice as soon u remove the tail n replace it with anything else...really..anything. U getting what u paying for.

Interesting idea. But I used to work for them. I don't currently. And when I did work for them, it was in marketing, not in sales. So I never made any commission from vehicle sales working for HD. Credit restored.

I bought a second-hand street 500 as my first bike. It is 3 years old and as a new rider in Aus, I need to stay under 500cc for two years. It is a great bike for the price and I love riding it. No problems with it so far. My issue with Harley is my local dealer. The Gold Coast dealership are arrogant pricks and I will never buy anything through them.

I have a street 750. It’s my first bike, and I’m really enjoying it so far. Would have gone used on something else but my credit score was higher than my savings at the time so I had enough for a down payment, but not enough to buy outright. It fills the need to have something to learn and practice on for now, but I’ll be upgrading in a year or two.

You mentioned wanting to upgrade from the Street 750, so let me give you my 750cc story for comparison: I downsized from a litre bike (1130cc V-Rod) to a 750cc Aprilia Shiver, and when I put the Shiver out of Touring mode and into Race mode, I still felt like the 750cc Aprilia was more bike than I would ever need. That's the difference between a premium 750cc and an economy 750cc. The irony is, a used Shiver 750 probably costs thousands less than a new Street 750 too.

YouMotorcycle I get that. All I’m saying is that to a beginner like myself who doesn’t have the years of experience on other bikes as some do, this bike doesn’t seem so bad. Again, that’s not to say it isn’t bad, only that I have no experience to gauge it to. Also living in the city means that it has more power than I will probably ever need when there’s a stop light or stop sign every block. Perhaps upgrade wasn’t the correct term.

Michael Johnston bro the bike is fine for in the city. There are better bikes out there but the bike will serve that purpose fine. It isn’t the most cost effective but no Harley ever is. Harley did cut corners on this bike for sure but no bike in this price range is perfect. I myself would buy the Vulcan s but that bike isn’t for everyone. Also remember bigger isn’t always better. If your just commuting in town you don’t need to upgrade the bike you have now will do that perfectly. Now if you are going on longer trips sure a bigger bike is better but in town they can be a pita as well. I’m actually looking at a street twin to commute on

Michael Johnston also keep in mind you can’t compare used bike to new bikes. Of course you can get used bikes cheaper but buying used can be risky as well unless you know what to look for. My advice unless you really want more power stick with what you have. The big question is are you happy with it? If yes then it doesn’t matter what others think. Is it reliable? If yes then why worry. Again by your post you live in town with a lot of stop and go so do you really need a bike with 100 horsepower? I have a brand new street triple r with 115 hp and all my friends on their super sports laugh and call it slow. But guess what the bike had more then I will ever need or be able to fully use I’m not Rossi and don’t pretend to be. Sorry for the long winded rant it’s just that people are going to bash anything you ride.

You'd be better off not limiting yourself to only one brand. Your choice of motorcycles, especially as a beginner, should be focused on what suits your capabilities, what suits the kind of riding you'll be doing most, and what you won't lose too much money or won't be too upset about after dropping it and damaging it a few times as you learn. There are a million great motorcycles out there, don't limit yourself to only two models.

I recommended my first time riding girl to test ride one of these for her commutes in LA (car pool and lane splitting)... so far she likes it. Stop and go traffic has never been a Harley Friendly pastime, liquid cooling is huge... I have had to pull over in both my air cooled Suzuki 750 and my 883/1200 sporty due to Boston traffic, and I think buying a used Street 500 for $4k with 19 miles on it is a fine starter bike... I will say that buying it new near $10k, you can do better.

Yeah, well; wait 'til your 1st-timer goes out with plenty of time to get where they're going and doesn't make it ( and gets to push it up the hill several times trying to roll-start it ) after it's had a little more time to rattle the cheesy spade-lug connectors in the relay block loose or has to replace the battery and snatches herself bald in frustration by the time *that* ordeal is over and get back to us on that.

I have a 2015 street 500. First legal bike with a license. Lol. Only has 2k miles. Gas line seal leaking after 800 miles. Just got the bike back today. They replaced the line and the quick disconnect. Along with all fluids. I added engine guards and a two brothers racing slip on pipe. Let’s see how many miles it makes til next time! But, that exhaust is nice!!

Its a great bike!! Had mine from new for 4 years now, issue free. True, it dosent have the higher quality of the other Harleys, but its also half the price of the other Harleys. You get what you pay for, and not everyone can afford a £20k bike. Im not a Harley guy, but sat on the street at a motorcycle show and it just felt right. Do the research and performance wise, its actually quicker than quite a few other Harleys. Each to their own, love mine and wont be changing it anytime soon.

Glad yours has been trouble free. Seems like you made a good and fair assessment of the bike. You get what you pay for relative to the other Harley's. But you don't get what you pay for relative to the other bikes in its class

They aren't what most people would consider a "real" cruiser. To some people that matters, but personally I don't think it should. If you don't care what most people think, I think they're fine bikes. Personally I prefer V-Twins, but if you don't have a preference, buy it, ride it, enjoy it! Kawasaki makes a good motorcycle.

A used Sportster would cost less than a (now discontinued) Street 500. But the real question is, why pick a Harley for a first bike? It's a little like picking a Porsche for your first car as a teenager. You want something you can learn, something that's cheap to fix because you're at a higher likelihood of breaking stuff, so unless money is no object you probably don't buy a Porsche as your learner car or a Harley as your learner motorcycle. It's your first bike, and if you pick the right one and stay safe it won't be your last. Pick the wrong one and it might be 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have the street 500 2020 model I had to get in Australia due to limits for L plates, I have brought ex demo and never had a problem, it’s a lot of fun my partner has taken for spin he finds it fun. Yes could be better ie noise and fuel gauge but honestly for a beginner bike it’s awesome easy to handle very forgiving for new riders it’s getting first service as I type I had for 2 months put 1500km on it no troubles! Yes don’t look like more expensive bikes but for bike you don’t keep long term I don’t have problem.

That's a good way of looking at it. It's not a BAD bike, it's just not a bike that many Harley riders like. There's a difference.

Hey Danny, to be clear, not everything in the video is what I consider "real negatives" - its a video about why *people* don't like the Street, not necessarily why *I* don't like the Street. When it comes to the Street Rod 750, 1) The motor will still not be a traditional HD motor, same as the regular Street - personally, I don't care about that, I ride a V-Rod, which isn't a traditional HD motor either. Harley partnered with Porsche to produce my bike. 2) The quality - I've only seen one Street Rod very quickly, it still had some of the same signs of cheapness (look at the weld on the gas tank in front of the riders crotch, screams "cheap!", but I'm told some of the other components on the bike are better, personally, so this one gets a mixed answer 3) Overseas manufacturing - this is a bit of miseducation in a lot of Harley riders, but if you're in North America your Street Rod and the regular Street 750s will be produced in North America, so no difference. 4) Harley's own dealers not pushing it - I've never asked a dealer specifically about the Street Rod 750 so I can't answer this, sorry. 5) The brakes - Might be good to see if the brakes have been upgraded from those on the regular Street 750, I can't remember anymore. 6) The mirrors - Same as the brakes.

I have a street 750 model 15 ...... And I don't find anything more comfortable than this one in such a budget..... Ride it first..... It's the highest selling model of HD now....

Number of units sold does not reflect quality. Look at the number of microcars and CUVs being sold by car companies, and then compare the components they use in those vehicles compared to the quality components in the full size sedans and SUVs. Cheap cheap cheap..

The Honda Rebel 500 and 1100 are better in pretty much every objective way. The 1100 in particular outpreformings just about anything smaller than a Milwaukee 8 or the new Revolution 1250. The looks are kind of fugly though on the 1100. If you're a beginner rider it just makes more sense to go with a cheap Japanese bike for a year or two then upgrade to a Harley.

Agree with you almost completely. Rebel 1100 has nothing on my Harley-Davidson V-Rod :) other than that, yup, you're right brother!

I live in Denver, CO 🇺🇸 and I’m a new rider got my Harley Street 500 from my friend for $2000 with only 2164 miles and it’s been a year and I like it as a beginner bike, it’s easy to use and fun to ride to work but riding long distance and mountains it’s not as good I don’t recommend riding it up the mountains but for the city I like it

Simple, they hate street750 because its cheap. Its not because it was badly assembled or it does not conform with the HD standards of the traditional riders. This bike will save Harley Davidson's financial woes

Honestly I bought this bike a while ago it’s my first bike and I like it. I think it looks good. I’m tight on storage and this bike fits in smaller palaces. It can go fast enough if I wanted to go fast I’d buy a sport bike not a cruiser.

If you had to choose between the HD Street 750 and the Kawasaki Vulcan S, which would you pick and why?

The beauty of it is I don't have to choose. If I wanted a middleweight street bike I would look at a Triumph Street Triple 675 R or an Aprilia Shiver 750. Both are more premium motorcycles with better components despite being older than the Street and the Vulcan S, and they'll also cost me a lot less.

@@YouMotorcycle you're dodging the question. I'm looking into buying my first bike and cruisers/sport cruisers seem to fit me. The used market where i live isn't great so i need to keep my eyes on the new market as wel. With my budget and what i look for, there are 3 bikes that seem to work for me on paper: the rebel 500, Vulcan S and HD Street 750. Of these, the Vulcan and Street are in the same ballpark in terms of price, so i would like to know which of both you would choose and why.

@@Vraetzught I'd go with the Kawasaki. I had a new 2007 ninja 500 that I used almost everyday for 3 years and put 28k miles on it. I only did basic maintenance on it and it still pulled strong.

I mean I knew about the issues and I still got a street 500. First bike from a 150cc scooter so for me and my commute it has plenty of power for my skill. I'm happy overall and it's what I could afford from harley, hopefully trading it in next year on a used iron 883 since this is the last year.

@@YouMotorcycle what turns me off to the bike is the brakes and the front fork springs. There garbage for sure. Other than that I'm having fun with it and always smiling. Just wish harley would have invested in the line a little more.. ride safe dude..

Actually headed to a dealer now to look at some 750s. I'm a new rider, like took my class last weekend, only have a paper copy license, and had previously never even been on the back of a bike as a passenger new. I didn't want a harley. I sat on about 20 different bikes, I'm under 5'3" and there's not a ton of options if you have a short inseam and can't hold up a super heavy bike, but I sat on a 500 and fell in love with the feel. Had the pegs where I want, comfortable sitting position. This bike did its job, bring in non harley person into harley. I wanted an Enfield (I was too short to touch) or an Indian (no one at the dealer even looked our way, so we left.)

Lack of change? thought? some may like it because of that change, Harley perhaps heard them? made this bike an option to compete in this market. face it, sales in the American market is dying and we're going with it. in a positive note, somewhat, if and when our economy tanks, what did you really lose, let's say this bike, not much my friend. I've heard people hate on it saying "it's not a real Harley!" or "I'll never own crap like that!" Lol, go look at other stuff Harley put their trademark name on and justify that one. it's right out hilarious, gut-busting funny! they will place that trademark name on damn near anything to sell and stay afloat. sad times, my friend, sad indeed. like the video, keep 'em coming! The real problem with this bike is that it is a real missed opportunity for Harley. If people want an entry level cruiser, they are STILL going to Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawaski...because they make a better bike for less money, at least in terms of the entry-level cruisers. Hell, Suzuki's Savage/Boulevard S40 has been produced for at least 30 years now, and you can theoretically take one home for under 6 grand! The Honda Rebel speaks for itself. The street series, however, are definitely a swing and a miss. I would argue that they should have developed these bikes from the Sportster line, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel...but what do I know...I'm no product engineer. "Oh, but millennials want..." You know what millennials want? An inexpensive, rideable, and reliable motorcycle - one they don't have to spend money on to replace sub-par mirrors, or take it to the shop for a factory recalls. If you make one of those, you will sell it, as Harley's competitors have consistently proven. I'm not saying Harley is a bad brand, I'm just saying they could have, and should have done better with the street series.

I just got the 500 used---several months on the warranty. I always said if HD ever made a bike that appealed to me I'd buy one. My 30yr-old Honda CX has developed enough issues it needs serious out-of-service-for-awhile TLC. So I bought this XG 500 figuring if it's still on warranty it should be dependable while the other bike is "down". Stop laughing. It quit starting within weeks. I was glad I hadn't already tore into the Honda while I figured out that. The spade-lug sockets in the relay block are of such shoddy material the one for the system relay wasn't making good contact. I first checked the battery and found out I could have taken the battery off the CX and walked to the place I had it checked and back in the time it took me to get that battery dug out of the XG. The battery was fine. I won't bore with the rest of what it took to discover the socket problem but when I reformed the push-on connectors in that relay socket it ran again. In comparison the CX was like 28yrs old when I got it and has given me great service even after the lighting stator failed ( within reasonable radius-of-operation and thanks to an LED headlamp substitution---17w vs 60w ). My biggest complaint on this XG is that after a month of having it getting the thing into N is still hit-or-miss. I'd seen reviewers complain and experienced it on test-ride so I was expecting it but I still don't like it. The seal on the shift shaft is already leaking too. This is the first made-in-USA motor vehicle I've ever bought. It will also be the last. I'll probably keep it and try to learn to deal with what HD sabotaneers wrought but only because I have masochistic tendencies. My CX has 50hp with 1/2liters. This thing has a mere 30. Same displacement. Same 4 valves/jug. And everything you buy for it costs 3X.

@@YouMotorcycle I'm 66yrs old. Single all those years. My actuarial table says I don't have *time* to give 2nd chances. And I'm not talking only 2wheelers. No more made-in-USA 4me. Now I've got to review the procedure for resetting the error code "check engine light" issue that was inadvertently created when I was silly enough to try to start an XG with it's "system module" disconnected ( by HD sabotaneer vendor selection incompetence ) and see if I can master yet one more "skill" I should never have needed to learn. Believe me I haven't learned to DIY because I like getting my hands dirty or fixing things when I could be out having fun or watching the boob-tube. It's because of 66 yrs of fixing things some certified incompetent supposedly already fixed. I could have fixed the old Frigidaire refrigerator by buying a fan and putting it in. But "oh no--we need a new modern Amana refrigerator". Upon which I was installing a new fan before it's warranty period was "up" because Amana put a crappy OEM fan in at the factory. I could go on like this for ten pages. You want something "done right" ? You *better* learn how to DIY.

@@YouMotorcycle The "pricey" is all part of their business-model. They didn't use the shoddy push-on spade-lug connectors in the relay block to save t he $5/$7,000 bike. It was to get fools like me into their service center. I see this sort of thing all the time with domestically-produced items and have for decades, actually. Look at the Evil Empire. Rushing every new OS to market to beat the competition---and fixing what amounted to a primary piece of malware later. It's the Spirit of the Age. They could have cast out that evil spirit but it was easier to sit back and enjoy a market that's been carefully groomed to accept the abuse. And above all else---never tell because they'll take Daddy to "jail"---and we wouldn't want that now, would we? When I had to confront a full-scale TSA ordeal to try and pay a tax bill in my Co. the guard on-duty said "if you don't like it take it up with the Co. Executive". That new satellite office was all his brainchild---including Checkpoint Baumruk---just to pay a tax bill. Because decades earlier one ( count 'em---one; named Baumruk ) correspondent in a messy divorce shot up a court-room. I left with the bill unpaid cursing the Co. Executive under my breath the whole way and opining that if he wants to insult the honest taxpayer by treating them all like criminals then *he* should be treated like a criminal. That Co. Executive surrendered himself to be incarcerated in a federal penitentiary late last year for ( among other things ) corruption in converting part of a former shopping mall into Co. offices. Sometimes "Daddy" *belongs* in "jail". Too-big-to-fails should have been allowed to reap what they'd sowed and those who'd cast out the demons allowed to take-over their market-share. Ford didn't take the bail-out. My next 4wheeler will be a Ford---made in *Turkey* . Karma---not *only* for the reincarnated. .

Bought my dads 2015 XG750 and the biggest thing ive notived has been the powdercoating flaking off and rust around the forks and headlamp. Not a huge issue as i plan to mod and customize it...but off the line, its lacking. Luckily he already did the motorwork so i just gotta make her purdy. (Oh and yeah the mirrors suck!)

No idea where you're from so I don't know what motorcycles are available in your market but if your plan is to learn on it and then upgrade within a year or two I would say stick with Japanese, 250-500 preferably but even up to 650 if you're on the bigger side. The used Japanese options have better quality finish, proven reliability, and you'll barely lose anything when you resell them after a couple years

This is likely the only Harley I would ever own. It has that 80s Japanese standard bike look, though the only thing preventing me from buying it is the fuel economy, lack of performance, and reliability compared to a Japanese bike.

It immediately turned me off on motorcycling, because at the time it's the bike I was interested in. Harley needs to address the way their dealers screw their customers. Now that I've become re-interested I've been looking into the Honda Rebel 500.

Man, I had 2 Buell Blasts. They weren't the best motorcycles, but they worked and were built in the USA. With the technology these days, I really think they should bring back Buell, a 500cc and 750cc. I would love to see a bike competing with SV 650's, Ninja 650s, and CB650s.

What is it that makes you want a Harley specifically? Is it just the name? If so, buying this bike will check that off your list. But as far as personality, quality, and performance, it won't. Your first bike won't be your last bike, unless you're very unlucky. There are a ton of kick ass bikes 650cc or less that are much better than this one. Then in three years you can get yourself a quality Harley if you still want one. Food for thought. I didn't get myself a Harley until I had already been riding and even working in the bike industry for years.

I got told to buy one before I upgrade to a larger Harley as I've never ridden one before and it will help

Yep. But any smaller bike will prep you for a bigger one.

I like my 2016 street 750, I just avoid rain and washing with water. I change pipe with screaming eagle and remove the silencer. Now making loud noise. I put Fuelpak and change all around air filter. And sounds great. I have some accessories Put in, like engine guard with lights on it, leather side bags, bike back rack for travel. Other bikers surprised it’s a street 750. And they love it. Eye catching bike like a mini harley Hahahaha. Speed 110 mph not to bad and not good, I wish it’s 120 mph, like the in a new ones now. Speed Not for racing just cruising and heavy traffic to work easy on splitting lanes. NO complains at all. First time long ride San Diego to San Francisco and back to San Diego after 2 weeks of stay with my kids, beautiful no problem at all, I enjoyed the ride. Planned to ride again.

It is no fun actually getting wet, so my bike stays in the garage on rainy days. What is the use of having a MB car if you don’t use it at all. Had one for 3 weeks and wish I didn’t buy it. Moved on to a 1200 sportster custom to a heritage.

Giday mate, Pete here from Sydney Australia. I really liked the way you explained the whole 500 thing. I only bought one because I was surrounded by HD devotees. My next bike is where my heart is , British, Triumph. I love my 500, its been a great bike, but after 12 months I'am beginning to see a few defects regarding quality. ok, Im cool with that, made in India. But Harley Davidson like Levis Jeans is an American Icon. Is the empire dying ?

Anyway glad you've enjoyed the Street for what it is. Quality should be much nicer on the Triumph. I'm a big fan of the Bonneville SE in particular. It's a really easy to handle machine. If you're looking at the Bonneville family I believe it's 2010+ for fuel injection and 2016+ for liquid cooling. Happy hunting brother! :)

After not riding for several years I just bought. Used 750 tonight. It was dirt cheap, only 3200 miles and well maintained. I consider it a throw away bike. Ride it to scratch the riding itch and then sell it without loosing much if any. Picked it up for under $4000

I bought a 750 street. Its an o,k, bike. But yeh the wiring, braking, and lol more loose and incomplete tightening of nuts and bolts . And this was fresh off the show floor. Dissapointed . Highly. This was my first ever harley and first ever "bought fresh brand new off the showfloor" ever. And to top it off , no one wants it for even a trade in. So, Ive been modifying it. Big time mods. Starting with the rear fender thing . Discovered the one good thing that makes it salvageable is the mods.

I've rode Harley's for over 40 years and I have owned a dozen or more AMF Harley's and even though they had some issues they weren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be . Don't try and tell they never leaked oil before AMF and yes you had to tighten things up from time to time .But If not for AMF there wouldn't be no Harley Davidson

I also dislike the Street 750 and feel it's subpar, so this video is PERFECT to share with a Friend of mine, of Why. I heard the Street ROD 750 has some improvements. Still, it's no Sportster, in my opinion.

Hey again! Street Rod 750 definitely has improvements over the Street 750. Maybe if the price is really good on a low mileage used one it's worth it, but if the price is high just because it has a Harley logo on it, I would look elsewhere :)

I got the Street 750 from 2017...second hand!!! I have changed the handlebar for a taller one!! And i think is looking cool!! For me it's a good starter bike!!

Kind of at a loss as to why this popped up two years later on a bike that isn’t still being made. But I guess KZread somehow knew I am thinking about buying another Street. But since it popped up I may as well engage. Probably nobody will see it though. 1. Yeah, it isn’t a traditional HD. And Harley guys hate that. But it wasn’t intended to be the same. That’s kind of the point. 2. Yes the fit and finish falls short of everything else Harley makes. It falls short of what the main rival, the Rebel, does. But making things in America is expensive. To compete in the beginner market that is the price to pay. 3. The foreign factories sucks. But the tariffs are the cause. Harley is already expensive. Foreign markets charging a tax on American bikes kills them. 4. Yup, the mirrors blow. The brakes have issues. Sometimes things didn’t get grease like they should. No excuse but it is what it is. Now why I don’t care. Big Harley bikes are great. I don’t enjoy riding them. I grew up on dirt bikes then rode sport bikes. Nothing Harley makes feels familiar. The Street feels like my dirt bikes. I had been out of riding for 20 years and decided to take a class before I got back into it. Went and took it at Harley so rode the Street 500. Loved the bike and left on a 750 the day the class ended. Rode it for a couple of years then sold it and bought a Dyna on the used market. Hated it and bought a VRSCR. It is we OK, loved what happened when I opened the throttle. Hated the way it handled. Sold it. I have a Ducati Monster still. It’s a lot of fun but i tend to only take it out for a dedicated ride on the weekend. When I had the street I often would ride it to the game during football season, to the club to play golf (clearly not if I wasn’t at my home club- hauling clubs wouldn’t be possible 😂). Or just to the coffee shop to grab a drink. I miss that and want to get something to fill that spot in the lineup. At this point it looks to be the Rebel (500 or 1100… who knows) or the Street 750. I’m leaning towards the street just because I loved riding the thing. The fact that Harley guys a bike night get twisted is an added benefit though.

Yup. Rock on. I don't care what anyone rides, provided they aren't deluded about it. Also a V-Rod owner (VRSCD Night Rod, mid controls and 180 rear, so the second best V-Rod after your VRSCR). Agree with you that handling must be done with intent and extreme prejudice lol

Me personally I like how the street 500/750 looks but it’s also good that these types of videos exist to help us avoid wasting our money

@@Jportill_ I have a video called "10 things I don't miss about my Sportster" and another video called "10 things I miss about my Sportster" - they should give you a good sample of the pros and cons. Overall no motorcycle is perfect but reality is the fit and finish on the Sportster is night and day better. Great character and personality. Pretty bad suspension though. Good bike besides that though. I would buy another, but I would leave a little extra in the budget to do some upgrades

I have a 2017 750 with 30176 miles on it and it looks brand new runs like a champ. I think it’s all how you take care of your bike and what upgrades you want. I’ve test drove the new 883 my opinion it’s a sharp looking bike but my 750 runs better and has more power but it has a bunch of goodies in it. Everyone has an opinion that’s just mine😊

I have a 2016 Street 750 and have owned it and rode it for years now so I feel very qualified to say this: Fuck this bike 1000%. Working on it and servicing it has been a shitty nightmare. The mirrors are shit, the brakes have already had a recall that didn’t fix a drag in the rear tire. The clutch cable was rusting apart and the steering bearings already have needed to be replaced. I live in SoCal and keep it covered or sheltered when not riding. The seat fell apart in less than 2 years. Finding decent parts feels impossible and when you do the fitment is always a little off. The shifting on this bike is a gamble at best. I had such high hope for this bike and it was my very first so I had a love for it like no other. Overtime it has gone from my sweet summer baby to a red-headed stepchild and I’m about to go Mommy Dearest on the fucking thing. TLDR; I am a fixing my 2016 Street 750 as fast as possible and trading it in for a Honda Rebel.

Good video. Well explained. IMO if a bike, any bike, puts a smile on your face then who cares? That's what it's all about. If you test ride it and you're not smiling, don't buy it.

Yup, that's fair, but you can make a beginner bike that has better fit and finish, like many of the offerings from other brands.

I often say I’m the only guy alive that actually likes the Street 750 that understands motorcycles. I’ve been riding since I was 5 years old, and I’ll be 50 in a few months. I’ve owned a lot of bikes over the last 45 years. The only bike I kept as long as this was my ZX7R. I never have had a problem. It rides nicely, it handles very well. It isn’t the fastest 750 out there. But it is a Harley that i can use to commute in 100° weather and stop and go traffic. I am comfortable, it doesn’t overheat, and I don’t see one every 5 minutes. Not sure why this popped up tonight. But glad it did. The street is dead and you can get some great deals from people that got tired of Harley guys talking bad about their bike. You were wrong though, I disagree but liked the video. Definitely subbing.

Just found this channel. My grandfather is a huge Harley fan, and it’s not that douche thing. He’s diehard because of the American history, and sound of the American old school Harley note with the cams I guess? I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I’m looking for a bike. I was looking at the street because of the looks honestly... I love the look of it. But the reviews seem to take me away from it.

To traditionalists, and hell even non-traditionalists alike, there's something just cool about the low-revving big twin engines. Honda even had a lawsuit on them for infringement when they specifically tried to replicate Harley's unique sound. Don't let your grandfather or anyone else's opinion dissuade you from buying the Street if it's what's best for you. I just want people to know the bike's areas of weakness and answer the question of why so many Harley traditionalists really don't like it.\

Moto Guzzi V7, Triumph Bonneville, Harley-Davidson Sportster, Honda CB300F/500F/600F, all modern versions of bikes that have been around and mostly in production since the 1960s onwards. Street line is less than ten years old. It's a baby in comparison where history is concerned. It sounds like you're still early in your search, I'd recommend you just spend three hours looking through your local classifieds and opening 100 different tabs and getting to learn what's out there.

Literally a ton of options. Honda Rebel 500 costs less, and the Honda Shadow Spirit is a few hundred more but much better finished and proper sized. Yamaha's XSR is more than the Street 750 but is a night and day difference in performance and finish... Any of the 650s from Yamaha and Suzuki will smoke the Streets and cost roughly $1000 less depending on where you're located... Tons of options, best just to get familiar with what's offered where you are and choose accordingly.

It’s a price point. Of course it won’t be top of the range for $10k AUD, but it’s a HD and it’s a beginners bike, I think it’s a definite winner with the right crowd.

I think you missed the point that there are plenty of other beginner bikes that cost the same or less as the Street but have much better fit and finish... So it isn't about price point, it's about lack of quality for your dollar

Well, this sucks! I'm taking a new rider course with Harley Davidson (once the quarantine is over), and they tout the Harley 500 for the class. I guess I'll wait and see, and draw my own conclusions!

Doesn't suck at all. I used to work on the team that ran the HD Riding Academy in Canada. It's a great program! But more to your point: every riding school is going to teach on cheap motorcycles because they get banged up by new riders. You'll find the same thing with (car) driving schools. They teach you in a Nissan, not an Infiniti.

I’m taking the BR course at my HD dealer this weekend! 😀. First day riding Street 500 today. Final 6 drills and skills test tomorrow👍. I’m loving my instructor and the program. It’s a fine bike for the starter course. I am leaning towards a used Honda Shadow Aero for my first bike. You can find really nice ones on Craigslist for 2000 - 2500K. Can’t afford a Harley right now😥, but when I do it will most likely be a classic Heritage with a carbed Evo engine for sure! ❤️

It was a way to survive and instead of keep doing better, they stopped. I think it's possible to keep quality and essence in changing world, but it seems they've decided to go expensive niche. I find it really hard to justify the price of new models... In this city, for the price of the less expensive HD I can get the most expensive BMW and take a really nice trip...

The street looks nothing like the rebel this street is way better quality then you say. The street rides way better than an Iron 883 or 1200. I have a 2015 Street 750 and I think it is way better than anything that I test drove.

@@justincraig3419 How do you feel about going out to start 'er up and grinding down the battery ( rather quickly I might add ) and finding out some jack-ass who calls himself an engineer specified shoddy push-on spade lugs instead of quality if exposed wiring doesn't bother you? I bought mine used with 8k on the odo. You're about due... Heh---wait'll you try digging the battery out. When you find out that HD knew from experience that the typical HD buyer can't be trusted to follow simple instructions and disconnect grnd 1st and spent more money/time making sure they couldn't blow themselves up and in so-doing turned a minor inconvenience into a prolapsed anal venous varicosity. Tell us how "cool" *that* looks to you. I'm dreading the next several years of ownership of this rolling trash-pile. When I called HD up to try to find out whether closing the Olathe Ks plant where they crapted these abominations meant that if I bought a new one it would be made in India the dolt on the other end of the phone didn't even know they were closing the Olathe Ks plant and angrily accused me of "spreading 'fake news' from the internet". Later someone must have listened to the tape and called me back to apologize stating that employee was in for some "retraining". That meaning if I bought a new XG from the dealership I'd be paying that dolt to sit through training daydreaming *again*. That's why I bought a used one instead of brand-new. If they'd said he was helping the shoe-making sector of the economy wearing down his shoe-soles seeking other gainful employment maybe I'd have *really* gotten screwed. That's their whole corporate culture though. From the board on-down to the assembly-line. Check out some other y-t videos on problems with HDs. One shows a mechanic having found an in-tank fuel-pump/filter/regulater plumbed-in backward *at the factory* . It doesn't take a roadrunner to drop an anvil on *this* coyote's head. HD sucks and they had to try to jump into the late 20th Century too late because they always have. Their corporate business model is "there's a sucker born every minute". Unfortunately it's all-too-true.

im confused so its not the fastest? its typical asian built? and from the comments its a nice cruiser. handles decent. has abs braking. perfect for a learner getting into bikes, and i know my son isnt going to end up in a ditch trying to race his mates. shit breaks meaning he will have to learn how to maintain his bike and fix shit...... sold hes getting one of these.

Great video. This just further supports my theory that unless you want to drop $15,000 on a motorcycle, H-D would prefer that you just go get f***ked instead of wasting their precious time. We saw this same thing play out 10-20 years ago with their original "entry-level" bike, the also 500cc Buell Blast, which also failed to be on par in terms of fit, finish and performance with its similarly priced competition. This will be Harley's undoing; most new riders have neither the budget nor the confidence to pick a $10,000+, 1300cc+ bike as their starter bike. Guess I'll just have to be happy with a much less expensive BMW G310 or vastly superior Kawasaki Vulcan S. #atleastItriedtobuyamerican

You hit the nail on the head with the Vulcan S, which I probably should have thought of as a great point of comparison. Oh well. I've tried asking local Street 500 and 750 riders to lend me their bikes to do a video review on, in exchange for free service on the bike... sadly, no one has taken me up on it. Ahahahaha! The HD street bikes don’t perform and don’t have the quality of the competition. The question is when has Harley outperformed and have had a higher quality than the competition? The Honda VTX1800 is 20 years old and outperforms and has WAY higher quality than HD.

YouMotorcycle well, since the 1300 isn’t really a VTX, I can see that. Put it against a 1800 (109 cI) and you’d see. The bigger bikes can keep up as long as you’re not in traffic. For that matter, the bigger bikes can’t keep up with your watercooled machine in traffic either

Harleys resale value has continued to drop on every thing they make. Harley isn't the Harley it used to be. Might want to include every thing they role out. I agree Yamaha pound for pound makes better street bikes now days.

Depends a little bit. I mean, even if we look at the Sportster, it's been around since 1957, and it seems like it never goes more than a few years without small tweaks to continually improve it. Sometimes it's just things most riders wouldn't notice visually, but might feel when they ride, like changes to the axle size. It's not all bad for HD. But the Street is just *too* cheap.

I’m no real fan of neither the Honda nor Harley 500cc beginner bikes. But honestly the only thing the Harley beats the Honda bike at is having a cool vinyl sticker on it but I’m not paying twice the price just for a sticker I can make myself for a couple dollars. Neither is anything to brag about but truthfully the Honda beats the Harley at everything on this particular bike including hp & torque numbers. At the end of the day, there still just a cheaply made beginner bike. At least with the Honda, you don’t have to mortgage your home just to buy one. Both are still just a throwaway bike; I’m surprised it doesn’t come with a dodge emblem on it. lol

I feel this to be a biased video. I own a 2017 street 750. I have it for little over a month and already out almost 2k miles on it. I haven’t had any issues. Bike rides well, is light and maneuvers well I haven’t had any issues.

2000 miles and one month isn't a lot. I did about 300 miles in the last 2 days on my bike alone. Also, is it your first bike by any chance? If not how many other bikes and which ones, over how many years of experience are you comparing it to? Keep in mind, the video is why Harley riders hate it, there are many reasons, that doesn't mean I actually agree with all of them. However, there are a few I definitely agree with and it's not a bike I recommend to people

i really should be getting a dual sport so im not limited to the black top but the harley davidson 500 street is definitely on my list of bikes to consider because its the only lams approved harley there is. the fact that harley has moved into this century with some modern tech on its bikes doesnt bother me at all. the only thing harley needs to retain to be a harley, is its sound.

Which it doesn't retain, because the motor does away with push rods and air cooling. Which is fine, my Harley (Night Rod) doesn't "sound like a Harley", but that's okay with me. How long would you be subject to the "lams" restrictions that you mentioned?

@@YouMotorcycle it doesnt sound like a harley with the stock exhaust but im currently searching videos with after market exhausts and some of them bring that harley sound. (pretty much the only thing i like about harley's) atm i am on my L's, i have 2 years in which to do the advanced course or i have to do my L's again, once i pass advanced course i am restricted in CC for a further 12months as i understand it. after 12months of passing advanced course i can ride any cc bike

@@4x4junkie86 nope. The "Harley sound" you're searching for from doesn't come from tone or pitch it comes from the engine configuration. I'm guessing you're a car fan from your name? Imagine me saying I can make an in-line 4 banger sound like a v6 by putting a pipe on it. It's not happening. I'm just gonna end up with a louder 4-banger. Different engine configurations produce different sounds and we can't change that. We can make them sound better, or worse, but never the same.

@@YouMotorcycle been riding bikes since i was 8yrs old,(now mid 40's) first time ive bothered to get my license or even check out the lams harley. but yes cars are a passion too, i can get some 6cyln engines to sound exactly like a V8 with 3into 1 and 3into 1 exhaust, of course it has to be the right engine with the right muffler boxes to imitate the V8 sound, doesnt work on all of em, and while that bike doesnt have the traditional harley sound, when he takes off its pretty damn close. probably the closest ive heard so far. im yet to find a good sounding twin exhaust on the 500 street but ill keep looking.

Love my 750, would rather have gotten the street rod much cleaner and better packaged but yrea pretty much everything you said its just really crappily thrown together exposed wires all over, breaks are shit and the street SHOULD be better than it is

Im impatient and wanted an entry level bike and loved the rod and instead of waiting until I could.afford it I jist financed a street. No mods I could do too it will make it feel the way the rod did though not without basically turning it into a rod or cafe racer. Good video tho all accurate 😂

I took the MSF course on a Street 500, and I had no idea I could outright despise a little motorcycle that badly, ugh! It's liquid cooled, and somehow I was still dying of heat on that thing. The exhaust pipes are obnoxious- they seem to be continually in the way. The itsy bitsy foot pegs rest directly on top of the obnoxious pipes. The seat is awful and uncomfortable. I personally hated the drag-bar style handlebars, and I also just personally did not like the controls on that bike. And yeah, it just feels downright CHEAP. It's everything that you don't want a Harley-Davidson motorcycle to be. It's anathema to the entire company. It's no wonder they don't sell.

No it's not anathema. It's precisely what you'd expect if they even deigned to try to field a modern sensible bike for anyone other than the will-not-buy-foreign bone-heads. I love "cheap"---if it's done right. Cheap puts me way further down the road. But not if I go out to try and start it and find out that "cheap" was done as badly as possible. Then I'm not going anywhere. Well; anywhere except to makers who want a reputation instead of a point-of-origin.

I love my street, I’m always looking for a reason to get out there and ride 👍👍👍

Unfortunately, outsourcing is today's business reality. As an American I hate it, but that's business. I can't blame HD. But if HD follows what GM did in the 80's,.... building terrible economy cars,...it will forever haunt them. people look with suspicion on GM small cars, no matter how much GM improves. People will look at HD with suspicion on "economy" bikes. I'm not just picking of GM....holds true with "economy" cars from MB or BMW.

You're right. And for good reason. My ex had a very short lived affair with a Benz B class. It wasn't up to snuff and kind of lessens your impression of the brand as a whole

If that Vespa it's the 250 or 300 gt that's not air cooled.

No brother. Those are large frame Vespas. That's a small frame Vespa. It's an LX-150. Definitely air cooled and carbureted.

I Think where harley failed with the street 500/750 is in its design & style. If it were a cruiser or even bobber aesthetics to compete with Honda rebel or Vulcan S . Or even i mini- V rod may have been more sucessful. After all. Most other bike manufacturers in this demographic are vTwins

Yep, it's pretty ugly and the finish doesn't help the aesthetics. A lot of people compare it to the Vulcan S and there's a lot of comparison videos on KZread where the Vulcan S 650 just spanks the 750 Street. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but throttle is in the hands of the rider, and you can't fake power.

I take it that would be a "No".

Not unless I was spending someone else's money.

I’ve had the 750,the 83, the 48. And after my 48 got stolen I’m planning to get again the 750. It is a lot of fun, faster than 83,more mile range than most of the big bikes (better not to mention the 48’s peanut tank it’s gas light turned on after 68 miles lol), it is amazing to maneuver around heavy traffic and urban environment. It is liquid cooled instead of Air. It has 6 gears. The only thing I hate is the sound, and the finishes of the the signal lights . But you can easily customize that. And yes HD knows their future goes in that direction!

They *have* no future. They finally took their "shot" and blew it. I don't think anyone's going to hang the "too big to fail" sign-of-shame around *their* neck and save the Milwaukee Vibrator. They'll sell the name and it'll just be another "name brand" POS like every consumer electronic product that says GE on it.

Scary look into the crystal ball, but then again, they sure do sell a lot of t-shirts and clothing now... Imagine how much more they'll sell if the brand becomes even more "nostalgic" by crumbling.

Just got a 2016 Harley street 750 in a trade the other week. I've seen the hate. I've read the reviews. But being the first Harley I've owned, I've seen ZERO issues or bad quality so far. Coming from metric bikes my entire life, this Harley is on par with any of those previous bikes I've owned. As far as power, it's got absolutely plenty of power. I've owned slower and more sluggish bikes for sure. Riding with my wife on the rear was no trouble at all. It gets great fuel mileage while riding two rides at 80mph on the interstate. 🤷 The bike has 19,000 miles on it so far. I hope to get another 20,000 miles out of it if God willing. The ONLY complaint so far is the brakes are a bit squishy. Easily fixed by swapping to a steel braided brake line. I'll be doing that in the future. Otherwise, I really enjoy the bike so far.

​@@YouMotorcycleohh and for a about a 6 month span, I had to daily ride a cheap hyosung gt 650, actually surprised how well it ran. Was also a very cheap Korean made bike, bad reviews, never left me stranded. Was super heavy though.

@@BlueFlagGarage any recent ones? Just curious because you said the quality was on par but some of those bikes (magna) have to be decades older than the Street so it's not really a fair comparison

@@YouMotorcycle to me, I feel like you have a biased toward a vision of what Harley should have done. Not really accepting what has been done. It's not a bad bike. It wouldn't be ready to ride at 20k miles if it were such bad quality. A 2000 Honda magna is not in a different world of tech. They are essentially the same level of tech then as this Harley is now. Welds are always going to be welds, no improvements have been made in that department. Wiring has been decent quality for decades now. Speedometers aren't complicated. Liquid cooling isn't some new science. This bike is no less quality than any of those bikes. I really get the sense of expecting sportster quality out of a bike not event meant to represent that level of craftsmanship. This is $7000 Harley. Not a $15000 Harley. It's as if you're ignoring that most key factor. Non the less , we are all entitled to an opinion. I have mine and you have yours. To me, the bike is nice and does it's excepted task of riding without issue. 🤷 I don't expect Porsche quality when I buy a Volkswagen. But the Volkswagen isn't a crap choice just bc the Porsche they also make is of higher quality. Lol your logic is confusing me. Stay well brother. I really hope you get to enjoy an awesome riding season this year. Lord knows we all need some throttle therapy in today's stressful world. Much love!

I think you're right. Of all the reasons Harley owners don't like them, it's probably the only reason I actually agree with personally.

@@YouMotorcycle Yeah. And my opinion its all about the roaring exhaust. I dont even have HD but street 500 has a lame roar you know... its about the firing order, HD has it own authentic firing order that had been a Legacy. And thats HD treadmark.

Bought my 2019 reg Street Rod XG750A a year and a half ago 2nd hand with only 4K on the clock... can't fault it... made in India or not its a cracking little economical hog that gets me between 57 to 62 MPG, it ain't too drastic on insurance I wouldnt swap it for any other bike on the market and if Harley still made them I'de trade it in for a 2024 model... each to their own huh 😎

@@YouMotorcycle Na dude, over the last 55 years I've previously owned a total of six bikes, over two dozen motors from V12, V8 jags, a V6 3.1 ltr RS ford to 2lt, 2.8 ltr estate cars plus five three ton 2.5 ltr vans, I've also ridden a few other Harley models, a Fatboy and a Lowrider and had a quick spin along some country B roads a few yrs back on a Triumph Rocket, each to their own but I'm well content with my Street Rod as it's an economical little hog to run both on insurance and in miles to the gallon, it's got plenty enough grunt and power for what I use it for and so far it's been totally 100% reliable, the seat height and ergonomics are spot on for my size and build and the ABS brakes on it are as good as any of my other previous vehicles, can I suggest rather than flapping your gob knockin these bikes, get a life kzread.info/dash/bejne/daBtwceSZ7C4k6g.html

@@mickeyflynn1954 what'ing my what? 😂 All that time and only six motorcycles? Dang I have more than that in the garage just right now. Maybe try more modern bikes. You might find better options.
