What’s your advice on a 2018 street xg 500 for a brand new rider who passed their mss on a grom? I’ve been primarily looking at naked bikes as that is what appeals to me most but recently sat on a 2018 street 500 and it honestly felt good. Very comfy and for a bike that weighs more then the naked’s i’ve been sitting on, i honestly didn’t really feel that weight. I was able to rock it back and forth easily w/ my legs alone while seated and the bike was off btw. Seems like i would be able to handle it. Def interested in a test ride. I don’t own any bikes. I’m still shopping but i do have a list of what i am looking at - some of which i’ve either tried already or have yet to try. Ruby is beautiful! I haven’t seen any xg 500’s past 2018 up here where i live. I wonder what the main differences would be b/t years. I’ll have to google. The dealers want $6495 for the 2018 ones. Rumble On website - lowest i found was $2500 and there was no issues with either but i think it was a 2016. The majority are in the range you stated $4k+. I wish i could find a Harley Davidson super low 373cc - those are not made anymore but I’d really just love to see one of those. Street 500 is the lowest hd displacement i can get though. How easy is it to ride for a new rider? When i was in mss, my grom stalled a lot - my problem was stalling when coming to a stop or leaving from a stop. No other issues other than a lil rough on some shifting but I’m curious on this bike. Everyone says sportster is the way to go for a beginner, but i don’t know about all that power and weight honestly for me. Hence why i am looking at naked bikes. I don’t want power nor do i feel i need all that yet. I’m going about this in a smart way i feel. I think ppl are nuts to go thru mss and then go out there and buy a 850cc+ as a first bike. There’s a reason why entry level bikes are made ya know. I think the street 500 is ample - it’s not a 250cc, and it’s not a powerhouse either. So i don’t think i would get tired of it easily as say a 250cc. I think it’s a good mid-range cc bike compared to the rest of the entry level ones out there. It’s affordable too imo. Idk yet but I’m looking at it. I liked what i felt when i sat on one. But i need to test ride one and see how it compares to what I have ridden. I’m curious on what my insurance would be too. I’m 42 yrs old and have been driving a car for 17 yrs - no issues. This would be a first bike for me.

Love the bike. Really good looking bike. I am looking at one right now. 2018 Street 500. I use to ride when I was 20 then thought I am going to ride again. Started riding again 32 year later. How I miss riding. I had 1985 Honda Interceptor 500 first bike then bought 1992 Kan of tuna lol katana 600. Then now bought a 1993 Yamaha YZR 600R. And now I am looking at the Street. Funny thing is I wanted something lighter then my Yamaha that weighs 425 pounds. Street is 500 plus. But dose it really feel that heavy. If anyone could let me know. Love the vide. Everyone that rides, be safe and stay safe. God bless

I’ve been looking primarily at naked bikes as that’s my preferred style that appeals to me. I learned and passed my msf on a grom. The lightest bike has its advantages but it does have cons too. I’m still curious about the street 500 and i want to test ride one. I find a lot of ppl that hate them and idk why. I mean the msf uses street 500 a lot - our school had them too. If it’s a good learner, entry level bike, then why would it suck? Especially if mss has lots of them. Idk. But i found myself looking at a nice 2018 XG 500 - have to say, it was comfy! This a lil under 500lb bike, honestly didn’t feel like it was. I was able to comfortably rock it back and forth just using my legs alone while seated on it (bike was not on btw). Didn’t feel as wide as other Harley’s or bikes i sat on either. Also I’m 5’6 197lbs and female. We had a big tall guy in our mss class, fit and he started out on a street 500 but apparently couldn’t handle it, so they switched him to a Suzuki tu250. I was surprised but he couldn’t. I thought about that when i sat on this bike rocking it and feeling it out. Cuz I’m nothing compared to the build of that guy

As far as I know there wasn't very many differences on the Street 750 or the 500 throughout their years it should pretty much be the same thing some had alarms and the color schemes would be different

This revolution engine is far better than the sportster evolution engine.. The 750 street rod with more powerful engine is even better… there are some very rich you tube reviewers who consider street not Harley ( e.g Marvel Kid)

Yes I still have Ruby. I bought Ruby after my wife died unexpectedly in 2020. I had to get out of the house. Went through probate court to get her bank account and the state took all of her $5000.00. so I bought what I could get and that was Ruby. Thanks for subbing. I follow two people in Australia, awesome people there
