    Thank you for the information. The video suggest using waterbased laquers with isocyanate hardener in DIY environment? Lady is sanding with Ros sander not wearing mask? The person who is spraying is not wearing gloves? I heard that isocyanates require spray booth and air feed respiratory protection plus full body covering suit?

    HI Matt, glad you liked the info - we tend to focus on the industrial and commercial environments and although all paints and hardeners have some element of isocyanate in them (it's unavoidable with current technology) the levels in ISO free paint are exceptionally low compared to solvent based paints. We did use some stock footage just to give the viewer a more visual idea of what we were talking about so well done on the eagle eye for Masks and Gloves. Ideally if you use any paint gloves, mask and overalls and if you can an air fed mask like a Honeywell is always recommended. Whether you need an air feed generally depends on whether the paint your are using has a high ISO level and whether its 2 Pack or 1 Pack. 2 Pack definitely needs air fed masks and full respiratory gear. 1 Pack its advised but not the rule. Hope that helps and if you need any further help on any products or features just drop us a line on here or at sales@ultrimaxcoatings.co.uk. BR Ultrimax Team

    @@ultrimaxcoatingsltd Thank you. Is the AU 454 primer suitable for coating over existing old Acid Cat, Precat and PU laquers after solid preparation by degreasing and sanding with 180 grit? Also does the dry primer film need to be abraded to provide mechanical adhesion for AT99 or it can be over coated straight with AT99? I appreciate your help.

    @@mattgloss8580 yes you should be fine there with AU454 if the pre-existing is relatively old and cured? and you then abrade give it a good degreasing and sand then you've done your due diligence on preparation. As an extra precaution would probably just suggest to section of an area and do a test patch before coating the full object for a concrete system.

    Is this product inclined to raise the 'grain' on MDF? Conventional water based paints do.

  • @ultrimaxcoatingsltd

    @ultrimaxcoatingsltd

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Elliott, crosslinker and at99 combined is a very good timber covering so the grain tends not to raise but you can use au474 primer before the at99 topcoat (with or without crosslinker) to ensure the grain doesn't rise first for a perfect finish.

    The data sheet recommends 1 coat of AT99 but depending on the colour you sometimes need 2. You can overcoat after 2 hours

    Hi, the spec sheet of the AU474 primer and the AT99 mention conventional sprayer, airless, etc, but it doesn't mention HVLP. Not sure if it's suitable for hvlp as well. In this case a Graco 9.5 HVLP. Could you please advise? And would them need the respirator and full gear as mentioned in the other comment or just if I add the ah1550 and xa4080 respectively? Thanks

  • @ultrimaxcoatingsltd

    @ultrimaxcoatingsltd

    3 жыл бұрын

    You can use the AU474 and AT99 with a Graco Turbine but you would probably need to thin the AU474 primer with water to get it to spray correctly. A normal half face respirator is fine for spraying AU474 and AT99. If you use the AH1550 hardener in the primer then we would recommend an air fed mask. The XA4080 is a cross linker and this is fine for use with a normal half face mask. br Ultrimax Coatings Team

    PU Polish is Polyurethane Lacquer which requires a hardener to cure. Lacquer polish could be solvent based or water based products

    Hi Stene at its simplest hardeners speed up curing time without affecting the chemical properties of the finish. In a DIY application a hardener may not be too necessary (ie: if you have no deadline and you can afford the paint to go off by itself then all good and I wouldn't worry about it. ) However in industrial scenarios you have projects , deadlines and a back log of work that must fit through the paint shop. The hardener therefore speeds up curing chemically and allows you to move more jobs through the paint shop (more jobs more production effort , more profit etc ) . In terms of crosslinker in Sayerlack this acts as a hardener and ease of use hybrid. Not only does it hardener faster than without but it also prepares the surface to make it easier to sand down for any final stages. Again in an industrial setting this can shave a lot of time from work and increase productivity and profit. Hope that helps Ultrimax Team

    @@SteneWoodwork Hi no unfortunately we are UK only but can advise from our side we think Sayerlack (sherwin williams) is definitely the best for interior wood and Teknos for external (do you get that brand in the US?) But Renner is well liked over here in the UK as well - here Renner is prob classed as a mid-tier WB product but overall no real complaints about it.
