Erling Haaland has already established himself as one of the very best players in the world with a goalscoring record that few other strikers could hope to come close to. Could he realistically become the greatest goalscorer of all time? JJ Bull has crunched the numbers and discovered that it might not be quite as simple as you think, even with Haaland's astonishing early record.

    People criticize Halaand for "scoring too many tap-ins," but to me that shows a incredible understanding of timing and positioning to score those easy goals, and understanding which will be seriously helpful when his monstrous physical attributes begin to decline

  • @diablejambe3460

    @diablejambe3460

    Exactly, its so dumb. Like his job is to score. Who cares if he gets those with more tap ins than he does screamers from outside the box. Just like when immature ppl call ronaldo "penaldo". So he regularly dispatches his penalties and somehow thats a problem or sth to make fun of? Its literally his job to make those, just like its haalands to score, no matter how. As a german, i sure as hell would love a "tap in merchant" right now who can guarantee us a goal or two on a very consistent basis.

    @@pedrogrillo lol yeah, ppl act like hes incapable of scoring from outside the box. Or the whole "any half decent striker could score that many in that team". Right, which is why no one has done it. And like u said, he did it at salzburg and dortmund as well. Sure dortmund r one of the biggest and better teams in the bundesliga, but they rnt some world beater like city. And yes, a tap in counts the same as a goal from the 50 meters out, like who cares. Id much rather have a guy who give me 1-2 goals every game than a striker who scores from outside the box every 3-4 games.

    I think what attribute is often underrated is that he has a very high understanding of the game. We love to praise Müller as the Raumdeuter but criticize Haaland for the same playstyle. He scores a lot because of his physical ability but mostly because he knows in which place he has to be to score. Nobody knows if he will break the record or not but the fact is that he is striker like we have never seen before.

    one of my friend told me its unsustainable when you have tall player like haland building his game also around speed to sustain career as ronaldo or messi. the fact is his hamstrings are longer and while he plays longterm this speed physical machine style, he would start to be more injury prone. its theory but makes sense, lets see

    I believe last season we saw signs of Pep holding him back and frankly, Erling is good enough to have the entire team working for him and the captain’s armband. After the treble I would have liked to have seen him move to Real or AC Milan as I think those two could give him more smiles per mile. Of course, he can still thrive and enjoy himself and grow at Man City but superficially something just seems off there between him and Pep whenever Erling gets a lot of media attention from his goals/records.

    Isn't it weird to judge a striker's creativity only on the base of dribbling and passing? What about creative runs? Imo that's more important for a striker.

  • @jesusojeda7850

    You're failing to take two important things into consideration- Regardless of the number, goals "count more" depending on the league they are scored. In the future, people will not just count the total number of goals Ronaldo or Messi scored, but the number of goals they did at the top leagues (if that isn't the case, we could cut the bulls*it and just say Pele scored 2000 goals playing with his buddies in the streets of Três Corações). Also, you can't just consider the club goals, but the international goals. Haaland also plays against the low-ranked national teams in Europe, so he is likely to score lots of goals there, like Ronaldo does.

  • @jamesduffy7549

    @jamesduffy7549

    He also plays in a low ranked team himself though, which means he won't score anywhere near as many international goals as Ronaldo, Mbappe etc as he just won't get the opportunities.

At the age of 22 and 23 he became the best scorer in the Premier League, was the best scorer in the Champions League when he won it with City, broke Andy Cole and Alan Shearer's record for most goals in a Premier League season, finished second in Ballon d'Or voting. Nobody knew who Lewandowski is when he was 22 and 23.
