Stats are stats. If Gonzaga wants to win it all four things must happen 1. Perkins must be an offensive threat 2. Rui and Clarke have to box out on rebounds considering they will play more long and athletic teams. 3. Norvell, Perkins, Crandall, and god forbid Kispert have to contain quick guards penetrating. 4. Few has to use a zone defense and even a full court press here and there to confuse or slow down faster paced teams.

@@reygaribay5542 I agree. I just know they arent playing against the same athleticism in the WCC. Also, the WCC has some of the worst officiating in the entire NCAA. Teams in other conferences are actually allowed to play physical. However, I think Gonzaga will adjust.

You absolutely 100% correct man. Totally agree on 1. That is the most worrying one. Perkins ain't dynamic enough on offense like Williams Goss. They really need Tillie back to help with the scoring. Think the team that got to the final 2 years ago was more loaded and talented but this one is still good enough to win it.

I am impressed with Gonzaga now. they are a small school, but they get international players who do well. Few has built a good program which feeds itself. for a long time I discredited Zags cause they always played weak teams in conference but they do play a strong schedule in Dec.

As a Duke fan every metric and watching them play and watching them beat us you are are correct. And with Tille getting back in the lineup makes them even more interesting. But things do change in the NCAA Tournament. There are a lot of matchups that can be exploited when teams face them. As with every team, its one game.

Tillie injuring his foot again was a huge bummer. Even if he's able to play in March, the last half of the regular season was needed to establish the chemistry/role with this group and his own rhythm. At this point if he can at least spell the bigs with a few quality minutes in the tourney would still be a plus. Just a shame.

Coach Few never gets enough credit. The man is an offensive genius. It is really what made this program. Normally "mid major" teams like Gonzaga slow it down and play conservative, but even in 1999 vs. UConn, they were not frightened to run and gun. As it he progressed, the program started getting top 100 talent or international McDonald's AA like talents like Sabonis,, they continued to follow the Carolina system. I very disappointed by the UNC fans back east who disparage Gonzaga when they should view them as their little brothers. As Coach Few said in 2017, they model their program from the UNC system. I thought that would make UNC fans like Gonzaga, but I guess it is just not the case. There is just a universal hatred of teams outside of the BCS system.

Just saying. I remember the first time the zags got a number 1 ranking back in 2012 (the olynyk clinic). Everyone was saying the played no one. They went 6-0 against the big 12 that year.

Definitely a fair argument! Zion and RJ pose a unique challenge for a defense. But with Jack White shooting 30% from 3, Jones shooting 28%, and DeLaurier/Bolden being non shooters -- you can get pretty creative in your defensive gameplans against Duke. That being said, the fact that Duke is STILL 4th in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency despite being one of the worst high major shooting teams is a testament to how special those freshman are
