My mother taught me to have a nighttime routine. She would say we were “putting the house to bed.” 💗

T hats great. ❤ I Love ur vids. I'm 53. Always a caretaker of someone except me. And with little money. You give of urself for free. I've learned more from you than any life coach...organizer.. Or Psy. Lol. Diane let me count the ways you have changed my life. Travel, inspiration, family, friendships, organizing, all aspects of housekeeping,.. Most of all you've blessed us teaching self-confidence, positivity, fun & PEACE. Thank you! ❤

What lovely words, Kat - thank you so much!!!
Dear Diane, You are so beautiful and truly an inspiration! I love “what people think of you is none of your business”. I just turned 30, started my career as a professor at a university, and I am trying to get my house in order. You have no idea how much of a positive impact you have had in my life and the life of my family. I have such a hard time not taking all of the comments and criticisms of my college students so personally and I also need to work on accepting myself, knowing everything can’t always be perfect, and not judging or comparing myself. Thank you for everything you do. From my heart I thank you 💜 Sarah

Oh Sarah, this makes my heart hurt for you! Please don't let the negativity of others bring you down. You're working on bettering yourself and that is something to be proud of! Celebrate your small victories and listen closely to the compliments you get. Negative people are only happy when they demean others. Remind yourself that their opinions mean nothing. It's how you feel about yourself that matters and it seems to me that you have much to admire about YOU!
This is the best video for me personally I've seen in a long time. My word for the year is accepting. I m having a hard time accepting that I'm chronically ill and that my body doesn't function the way I need to. But the flylady system helps me a lot with keeping as much possible independence as I can.

Hello Wilma Caspers -- I too battle chronic illnesses, daily struggling with limitations-- acceptance is a good word! I am thankful I found Diana in Denmark just a few months ago -- it was as a result of going to YT and searching for hygge -- after reading an article on how Danish combat winter blues. I am still trying to implement flylady. I will place you on my prayer list, and ask if you would kindly place me on your prayer list. God be with you and each of us. Thank you Diane in Denmark!

@@wendystockton4235 I love this quote, thank you so much for sharing it. I, too, have been struggling to accept that I'm 52 and disabled because of a back injury that happened 2 years ago. I'm blessed to now have my best friend as my home care aide and it's only because of her presence that I've been able to reverse my spiral into depression. It's still hard to accept that I can't do so many of the things I used to do, both fun and practical, but we're all a work in progress and the quote you shared inspires me to redouble my efforts. I thank you for that. 💜

@@kimtaylor9096 I am definitely open to learning about new approaches to care. I have been hit by 4 different drivers not being vigilant, once due to a cell phone, over a span of years. Resulting in surgeries. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, CFS, CMPS and several undlying associated conditions. I am thankful my Physician respected I never wanted opiates or similar approaches to care. Some prescription meds and natural supplements are helpful yet costly. Husband asked for divorce after diagnosis. I am no longer able to afford neuromuscular massage therapy, which helped enormously, as did heated water aerobics. It is with God's help I move forward in life each day. Please share any suggestions. Thanking you in advance.
"Accept" is a great word of the year as it includes so many things: accepting oneself, life in general, other people but also opportunities. Thank you. By the way when watching those videos from 2018 one notices how much more energy and sparkle you have in 2020. You are such a vibrant and fun person.

I, too, have had a word of the year for the past few years. I really like your “Accept.” My word for 2020 is “Bloom.” I have been dealing with a chronic illness for the past four years and I’m into my third year of retirement so I really want to encourage the seeds I’ve been sowing to bloom this year. Thanks for all you do for us Diane. You are awesome.
"Accept" is a wonderful word with so many applications. My word for the year is "Listen."
This was spot on! Thank you. What a sensible way to approach goals. A year ago I started exercising in my pyjamas with Jane Fonda DVDs first thing in the morning. It was so easy to not have to go out to a class, that I stuck with it. Now I’ve added other workouts from KZread. There is no dramatic transformation in appearance at all, but today I realized that I now have a strong core and can balance easily and steadily on one foot. That’s important for a senior for safety. Lots of my aches and pains are gone from the exercise improving my posture and strength. Now I also sleep well. Keeping it simple really does beat out lofty, unattainable goals. I used to start with “I want to lose 50 pounds” and it didn’t take long to crash and burn. Now I’ve achieved something I didn’t even know I needed. Thank you for all your encouragement and advice. It’s truly the daily routines that count. This year I’ve added a short Spanish lesson every evening. Now I’m confident that next January I’ll be glad I did that, even though progress is not very evident on a weekly basis.
Winter swimming? Naked? In Denmark? Wow. Just thinking about it makes me cold. Very very impressive. So adventurous! I was born and raised in Florida so what you are accomplishing is beyond my ken. I am going to ponder some adventure, a warmer one, that I could train to accomplish. And I am adopting your word of the year for myself. Last year I stopped coloring my hair and I have almost completely grown it out now to its natural grey. Nothing wrong with coloring your hair. I just didn't want to do it anymore. At first it was hard to accept my new look. But I have embraced it now, accepted that I am no longer young, and, after a period of mourning, I feel a peace and acceptance that is empowering. I feel I am no longer hiding who I am. No longer living by standards I let others dictate. I feel authentic. Who knew silver grey hair had such power? I am going to build on this and accept those things that move me forward positively. Thank you for this video.
I've been struggling with my daily word this year. I felt like you were talking directly to me when you talked about the word "accept" I am the queen of comparing myself to everyone. I don't garden as well as so and so, I don't cook as well as so and so, I'm not artistic like so and so...It is a never ending barrage of self criticism. I hope you don't mind that I use "accept" as my 2020 word. Accepting who I am, what my abilities are and where I am capable of going. And congratulations on stepping outside your comfort zone. I am so proud of you for saying yes to the swimming competition.
My word for the day is very similar to yours. "Shine". This is a word that represents showing my talents not hiding them. And it also means being my natural positive cheerful self even when circumstances are kind of negative. and that's because it's just a good reminder that who I am doesn't change because of circumstances and I am by nature a very cheerful person. But I do have a very serious side and that side tends to have run the show lately. I want to shine more this next year. But I also would like the main living areas of my life to shine more too. So my focus this year is on more tidying. More home blessing tasks and routines and not much on zones. I am one of those people who can get a toothbrush and detail clean something in a room that is otherwise a disaster. So I just want to have a more tidy environment that has a basic level of clean. and I want that not because it's the right thing or because of some sort of judgment but specifically so that I can shine more and be more creative and do more writing and other positive activities. So shine means more than just being cheerful it also means being more creative. and I know that in order to achieve that I need to work on having a more tidy and basically clean environment and less focus on heavy detailed cleaning this year. just my daily routines and my weekly cleaning and a couple little things for the zones. But not much of an emphasis on zones.
@ForbiddenChocolate

I'm sure that once you get your home in order and shining the way your spirit does, those creative floodgates will open for you! I'm very creative too and since my home has become orderly again, I find myself full of creative ideas. I've been working on a birthday cake for my kids for two days and can't wait to get it assembled today. It's going to be a giant hamburger! This is the first time in several years that I'm making a specialized cake for them and I can't wait to surprise them with it. I couldn't have done it with my home being a distraction the way it was before. Good luck to you, shine on!
After many years of reading self=improvement books, following trends etc. I have also learned that the small changes implemented into daily routines are the ones that stick and then eventually grow. Many of these little changes are thanks to you Diane and your cheer leading definitely helps. Thank you for all your mentoring!
This video almost feels like you knew exactly where I am in my life journey!!! I decided to do something active everyday this year and so far I have done yoga twice, been cross country skiing twice, ice skating many times, bowling yesterday....it's been great fun! My binder of routines is done and I am decluttering a bit each day. Reservations are made for dinner out with hubby tonight too. I am trying not to be so "results" focussed and just "do" and enjoy every day as best as I can. I think results will appear if I just keep doing!!!!!!

That's fantastic Alison! Go you!
I’m so glad that you referred back to Bahookie Camp as I had been planning to do it anyway! You’re so right! The message is the same and all the systems are the same. Really like the point about incorporating goals into your daily routine. Otherwise it gets too complicated. I’ve had the blahs for a few days and decided to take your advice and do something for me today. I’d been staying home with the intention to get things sorted, but I just hadn’t got round to it - when you have all day, it takes all day... today I went to my gym and got baby settled in the crèche and had a coffee by myself for half an hour. I feel like a different person! I’ve come home and got all of my jobs done easily. It’s opened loads of possibilities for me knowing that I can get some exercise in and a bit of time alone. I’ve been in the house for the last 8 months and it hasn’t resulted in me getting anything more done. Accept is a wonderful word for the year. I’m so pleased that you accepted Carol Tuttle’s invitation for October. I’m working up the courage to book a ticket! Thank you for everything Diane!
I admire your courage and can't wait to hear about your competition! Accept is a great word for the year, I think I will make it mine as well. There is much I've been struggling to accept about the direction my life has veered to. Accepting the circumstances that can't be changed will make it possible to make improvements in the rest of my life. Thank you for the inspiration, Diane. You're a very special person and all who follow you are truly blessed by your positive spirit, inspiration and encouragement! From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!
Oh Diane that's so exciting! I know you will take us all along with you to Slovenia and I cannot wait to see/hear all about it! You truly are an inspiration and so often you are the voice in my head saying "go you" and "rah rah rah" it keeps me going and helps me to accept myself, and for that I am forever grateful. Accept is a beautiful word; a lovely choice.

There is no way you will ever understand how you have changed my life. I am homeschooling my son who has extreme special needs. He doesn’t sleep well at all and needs round the clock care. My life feels like constant chaos spiraling out of my control. I never know what’s coming. But your routines and positivity have helped me find an anchor in the storm. You are a ray of sunshine with your kindness and encouragement. Thank you seems an insufficient thing to say for the difference you’ve made in my life. Hello Diane. Today you are shinning. Thanks for your beautiful advices and thoughts. My words for 2020 are "Don't worry be happy".♥️
My word for 2020 is “Content.” I have felt so much anxiety the past few years. Now I’m finally feeling content with where I am in my life and with myself. I’m increasingly able to tune out things around me that make me anxious. Fantastic about the winter swimming championships! Sounds like a lot of fun especially because you’ll be participating with friends.
Good morning Diane! Love this colour on you and the scarf is wonderful! Happy new year to you and your family and I hope 2020 is a magical year for you all.
I am also saying yes to new experiences and getting out of my comfort zone. For me it’s doing things alone. I will be flying for the first time alone this year ( to the DYT convention rah rah rah 💃🏼) and saying yes to experiences i always wanted to do even if i do them alone which is out of my comfort zone. If we don't have an actionable plan, it won't happen! I have MANY lists of goals and good intentions, going way back. Now I need to create the practical plans! Thanks Diane! Love the Accept too.
Good luck on your swimming championships Diane, its great you're taking part. Well done for accepting the challenge. Thanks for another inspiring video....pure dead brilliant!!! 😁
Go you Dianne! Rah rah rah! Wish I could find a pompom picture to post! Such a great video xx
Diane with your determination, you can do this with your eyes closed! Xxx
Just have to say how amazing you are and how grateful I am to you. You have honestly inspired me and taught me so much over the last few years that I have been watching your videos. What you've shared has helped me to grow and learn how to take care of myself in a way that I have never felt before and I cannot thank you enough for that. Congratulations on accepting your new opportunity and I wish you lots of luck! Hooray and pom pom shakes back at ya!!!
I love your word. I love piggy backing off of my word from the following year. Last year mine was restore and transform (my consistency and relationship with God) and now this year my word is Abide. I want to abide in His love and intentionality in my life and who He is. So much follows from this but if I feel fear or worry, the word abide pops in my head. If I want to conquer a goal I see abide and if I don’t want to get out of bed because I’m still mourning the loss of my little baby, I will abide and know resting is where He has me that day. Thank you for your encouragement!

Great insights, Diane! I struggle with making being active part of my routine what with harsh winters, busy job, hour long commute....I try to fit it in at 4 AM. Most times I'm just too tired. Exactly what I was saying just last night about resolutions or goals.
You have no idea how motivational you are! I love how you break things into little chunks, such as exercising, routines, etc. I have been retired for a year and a half and it's been crazy busy. Our daughter got married, we hosted our other daughters Canadian boyfriend for a week ( we are American), my husband and I took a trip to Europe, then my husband had two surgeries and my father had one. I am finally getting time to go through cupboards, drawers, closets, etc. Truth be told, I feel like I am getting reacquainted with myself again. Getting rid of things that don't fit who I am now. I've been following Dressing Your Truth. I'm pretty sure I am a type 2 with type 1 tendencies, though it's taken me a while to figure that out. Thank you for your great ideas! 💗 Have a great day!
what a great message. to accept yourself. its so hard to do in today's world. thanks for inspiring.
Enjoyed very much. Thanks for sharing with us. You are very pleasant and inspiring.
You are such a guiding light for me, Diane! As I’ve been watching your videos this week, I’ve been reminded that doing little bits of something every single day is so much better than biting off more than I can chew and convincing myself that I can be perfect overnight. I often convince myself that five minutes of physical activity is pointless, so I do nothing, or that somehow if I can’t mop the whole house every week, I shouldn’t even bother doing ten minutes. Why is it so hard for me to get it through my head that small actions done daily are the way forward? Thank you! You and your channel have helped me so much 💗💗💗💗

Hello Diane! I just finished Magpie Mysteries after taking your recommendation and wanted to say *thank you*!! It was such a fun read and kept me engrossed over the holidays. I took it everywhere, just in case I might have time to read a few pages (a true sign of an excellent book). Happy New Year!
Hello from Belize. I fell off the wagon for few months...but I am back for 2020 with my word "Intentional" .... be intentional with what counts, when chatting with my 4year old, my customers, staff, making daily plans etc. Thank you ... I missed you while I was gone!
Hello, Diane! It's raining here, in Córdoba, as well.
'Feel the fear and do it anyway!' (Susan Jeffers 1987) How wonderful! Mine is 'quality over quantity - in all things'
You are so wise! Thank you for the inspiration. I bet you are a great mom as well! I’m struggling right now with my “know-it-all” strong willed 7yo. Maybe you have some parenting tips you’d like to share 🤗
If you are out driving today in central Texas, watch for high winds. Severe thunder storms and tornado watch for today.
Thanks so much for your fantastic content and wise words Diane. I thought at first you were saying hygge camp, I think that's the first time I've heard "bahookie" online! Love from Scotland x

Hi Clare and welcome! I say bahookie here All The Time 😄
Love your sweater and the color, Diane. Good for you to step out and take on the swimming event in Slovenia! Is that in the sea as well? Thanks to you, I do go to the gym a couple of days a week. I'm certainly not athletic but do it for myself. The gym is close by so there is no excuse!

Aww, thank you so much!
It's not raining here in Wales this morning but it will be later. I am having a break watching you after doing a little decluttering. My words are act as action changes things and pop which is progress over perfection. I am going to try to get back to sea bathing at the end of the month. I am being very conscious now of watching my weight. I am 7 1 / 2 kgs less than January 1st last year. Fantastic that you are going to Slovenia. Accept is a great word. Have a great weekend Lots of love xxxxx Margaret

Hi Diane 😊 I would love to know how long ago you implemented these habits of exercise..or were you doing this even before you retired? I m a stay at home mom so these video have been a game changer for me. Very motivating. 💕 thank you!🤗
Oooh that's a great word! I suppose my goals and word (creative) are focused more on FlyLady pamper time 🤔 Interesting, I hadn't thought of it that way. Hope you have fun with the competitions, sounds awesome! X x x

Hello in Ohio, Pam!
I'm reminded of an instructor from nursing school. Who used to ask us, "What's your plan? [for your patient] A goal without a plan is just a wish!"I'm happy to say that my morning routine (parts of it) have already become second nature, and it's almost a fight with myself not to do them. LOL. Thanks for the reminders and the cheerleading. Go you!! =)
You've mentioned a few times that you read cozy mysteries and that genre is my favorite, too. Have you ever read the Aunt Dimity mysteries? I've only been reading cozy mysteries for about 8 years and Nancy Atherton is my favorite author. Happy New Year!

I can't believe Diane in Denmark is coming to Slovenia!!!!!!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁 🌊🌊🌊🌊 That's amazing! I have no clue how the championship works but would you like to have some cheerleader for you there this time?! 😄💪🙌 this course is helping me a lot, and I guess the word "consistency" ressonates very well with the season of life I'm going through, that and "baby steps"... Literally, 'cause my 1y.o. is just learning to walk 👶😻 thanks for all your sharing and wish you a great and prosper 2020! 🎉🎉🎉

I saw now the Winter Cup is in Bled 😍 I think Slovenia is very beautiful and I'm sure you will love the experience and have a lot of fun 😉 (and I'm saying this without being a native, but I live here with my Slovenian family for a while). The 1st time I went to Slovenia also stayed in Bled and it was remarkable ❤ Slovenians are great hosts, I'm sure they will let you know about lots of traditional goods. Wish you all the good luck, that everything will go as best as possible and that you will have a great time getting to know this side of Europe 😊 For you I say: Rah-Rah-Rah! 🎉🎉🎉
I’m active too, I know what you mean about sports. I love to swim, walk, work out. But no serious marathons or other stuff for me! Ha!
