With my RA getting ready to buy myself a bicycle. A WFPB diet lots of beans, lentils, rice, potatoes and veggies. Thanks to these DOCTORS who took the oath to heal and not follow big pharma or animal producers. ❤

I agree with you that rice & beans would be healthier and cheaper, but they would give the emergency food in my school to very low income/homeless people. If you're living in your van you don't have a stove to cook rice on. You need something you can open & eat right away. Produce is EXPENSIVE & won't be more than a snack. Meat & cheese could be half a days food. I agree with the idea of what you're saying, it's just a little bit elitist.

@Kate B Yes, there is undoubtedly a political lobby. But (as a poor vegan) fruit is also low calorie. Kids in my school would get that for the weekend because there would be no food for them at home. An apple has 80 calories, & that's a snack, not a meal. A cheese & meat sandwich can have 400-600 calories - slightly more able to feed a kid who's not eating much else that weekend.

I've been eating vegan now for over three years. Lost 50 lbs., cholesterol is way down, BP was never high but is lower than before. My arthritis is gone and my mental sharpness is back. I am able to read and to retain what I have read now. This was a worry to me as my dad died of Alzheimer's. The joy is that the diet tastes good and my mind and body can celebrate that along with keeping my wits, my cataracts are retreating and I have avoided totally the cancer which ran in my family. About time one of us woke up, I am the very last of my nuclear family -- they all died of the Standard American Diet. And it is sad as each one had so many gifts and talents. One of the greatest gifts is to be retired now to be able to research and find for myself what is true and what works. I cook vegan and my husband just got his bloodwork back from the VA as he was a Veteran. His bloodwork looks like he is in his 20 and not what he is which is 68 as of next month. He may have been an unwilling participant in my vegan experiment but had he followed my lead years ago when I was just vegetarian, he may have avoided his Prostate Cancer ... believe me the surgery is worth saving one's life but the side effects for him has not disappeared. Perhaps with further weight loss his belly will no longer droop on his bladder and he will recover the control he lost due to the surgery. He was at stage 4 cancer, so there was no ignoring this. But his PSA level shows the cancer is gone front he bloodwork. Of this we are grateful. I hope to be able to see such good health benefits in the rest of my family as I love them all so much too.

I have no problems, and my physical lab results have improved. I eat more cruciferous vegetables since I have been on the nutritional ketosis way of eating. The best beneficial approach in adapting to the diet has been studying base biochemistry of metabolism. I think there is no universal ideal way of eating.

Keto means you burn fat for fuel. This also happens on a vegan diet. I can easily burn my body fat on the vegan diet, ergo I'm in Keosis. Yes, I use Keto Coach. However, it is crucially important to remain metabolically flexible. You do not want to be in ketosis all the time. If you do that, you will no longer be able to regulate your blood sugar if you want to eat even a small amount of carbs. Your body downregulates the need for insulin. When you eat WFPB your body learns to use just the right amount of insulin to keep blood sugar stable. This, at least, is my own personal experience. 🙂

Being a vegetarian is practically the future solution. it’s basic math -vegetables and fruits grow in bounty even without soil and all the meat produced in US won’t be able to keep up with the demand and an ever increasing human population. Key points hindering the vegetarian message are 1) less and less people cook and prepare their own meals. 2) Even less people know how to use herbs to create different flavors, without using salt.

This video has a nice little segment on it but I wanted to give him a more in-depth video. One of my friends is worried about her mental health because her mom died of dementia at only 56 and she thinks she's starting to feel the effects of it. I sent her Barnard's video about Alzheimers and food. Her daughter suffers terrible menstrual cramps. I mean debilitating kind of cramps. My family has started showing my book to their doctor who supports a vegan diet. The only big problem with going plant-based for them is one of the wives is ADDICTED to cheese. I’ve heard a keto doc say that keto LOWERS metabolism and that we should DESIRE that☹️he compared us to cars in this talk, that a sugar burner is a big muscle car with terrible gas mileage and that a person running off ketones is like a Tesla, uses less energy for same output. Cool for cars but for humans? Yeah sure, drop your thyroid function, as keto diet shows over and over WILL DO, and see how you like your lowered metabolism! @Raccoon The same thing could have been said about slavery within Hebrew culture back 4 centuries ago.....no one at that time would have imagined that by and large, slavery, in most corners of the world, would be regarded as unequivocally barbaric as and immoral. I see the commodification and exploitation of non human animals today in a similar light.....except that many civilized cultures already have a growing portion of their population awaken to the notion that the violent exploitation of animals for pleasure and desire is not a morally tenable position. In other words......a VEGAN WORLD......it's already happening.....in spite of it being arguably in a nascent stage. The arc of morality is long, but it bends toward justice.

@20:00, I have argued with everyone about this...even my nutritionist told me to tone down the carbs. my doctors told me to stay away from carbs. And it sure seemed to me that they didn't know the difference between good (whole food) carbs and bad (overly processed with fat and salt) carbs. When I told my Doctor I was vegan and she tried to get me on the KETO diet for weightloss, I asked her "did you even listen to me?" Once we have an idea in our heads, it's truly hard to break it. My coworkers say "pizza is bad for you" and I tell them "yes...but not because of the crust--because of the oil, cheese, and meat on top..." and they refuse to hear it. You can lead a horse to water...but you can't make them drink.

Based on what he said in the video, animal products are super high in fat. Fat prevents nutrient reception. This causes a high spike of glucose in the system. When you remove the fat, you can eat all the carbs you want, because your body can now process them efficiently.

The Twizzler anecdote was amusing. The group still lost weight. I follow a plant-based diet for weight loss and health and I actually ate some licorice candy when I got hungry walking to the local discount store. It didn't interfere with my weight loss (15 lbs. so far, my BMI is now in the upper range of normal). In fact when I got home I used a keto meter and it said I was still in low ketosis, which meant I had burned up most of the sugar in the candy on the walk home. I think sugar can be OK in small amounts, and I do use some sugar, mostly dextrose, in my cooking (though I'm also experimenting with date powder). A licorice candy has far less sugar than a can of soda, and it's mostly wheat starch and sugar.

Good talk. It makes me want to try the 21 day challenge. Even though I haven't been 100% plant-based in the last month, I have noticed a few changes in my body. Besides losing 10 pounds, I do feel like I overall have more energy and feel more alert. I am always so tired with a constant mild anxiety and that has diminished. I did have a really big tuna salad over the weekend because it had been a couple weeks since I ate meat and I was wondering about my B12 and DHA levels. I have a supplement but apparently it's the wrong one. Quick question: Do I need both chia seeds and flax seeds or do I only need one of them? Everyone seems to mention them together. Also, any tips for a beginner would be great. I already have some recipes I really like but I worry about getting all my vitamins. I LOVE pasta but I wonder if I should eat it while trying to lose weight.

I think the penny just dropped. I think humans only ate meat in barren landscapes (think of arctic conditions during the ice age). As such, ALL foods were scarce - but especially any plant based foods. As a natural response, our bodies are probably responding by increasing fats when we eat animal products, as a signal that food is scarce. So I reject the hypothesis that humans cannot eat meat because we can still metabolise meat and derive nutrients from it. However, meat does trigger a response from our bodies such that, in excess consumption, eventually kills us. Oh the irony.

How do i reverse tooth loss without resorting to cod liver butter oil protocol?
