Not sure how to feel about this... But the content Pastor shared is 95% from Elijah Lamb's How to Save Gen Z on TheosU. I understand Pastor gave credit to Elijah during the podcast, but to take someone's hard work with little insight added (mostly the 5 college kids on the trip) I believe is unethical and unacceptable. In academics this would be called plagiarism and is equivalent to a death sentence in the field. Would love to point back to the source on TheosU for those that are genuinely interested and to support the original content creator. We can certainly do better in the Christian community!

I taught a breakout with Elijah last year at conference and I know Micah mentioned he got some data from there on the podcast, but I’m pretty sure the data quoted was from the Barna study (also Elijah’s source material?) Again, I haven’t seen it so can’t speak to it as the host. I didn’t prep beforehand and hadn’t seen any of the data he was referencing. I just showed up and asked questions 🤷‍♂️

@@loganmketterling thanks for replying! You are totally correct on the mutual source referenced. But the way the insights were structured sounded too familiar after watching Elijah's a few days ago. The point was to give credit where credit is due! I certainly enjoyed the questions you followed up to add depth to the arguments:)

Bro had literally no idea what is happening in the world around him. They need fathers? How about the ability to earn a living wage? How about a fair society? How about a world where we don't see the rich getting richer while the poor suffer more and more. No bro, you don't get it. Step outside the bubble and actually ask people what's going on with them instead of this stupid "father" argument.

Having a father in the home is proven (from non-religious sources) to be one of the biggest factors in avoiding poverty. Secondarily, pornography and social media are proven to affect mental health negatively, especially among adolescents. Global poverty has dropped over 50% in the last 30 years. We aren’t just making this stuff up!

@@loganmketterling ok... Sure. I guess it is father's, not the failed system we are all trapped in. Step back for a second and think about that. Do you honestly believe that these extremely complex issues have one word answers? And you can say all day that poverty is going down, but all you have to do is literally open your eyes and look around to see how devastated people are by poverty in this country. Things are a mess and I promise that the solutions to today's problems aren't going to be found in a nearly 2000 year old book.

@@eggplntironically, yes I do think the family is the greatest institution for human flourishing. And I’ve seen it first hand. I never diminished those who suffer, but my purpose is actually devoted to helping people. The humanitarian work we do and encouragement/inspiration Christians bring will never be enough for you. You don’t want Christians to do good, because you hate God and hate when people give Him a good name. Thankfully, that’s not how it works. Grace is available because we all are brutally sinful. Yet, I have belief and hope daily, knowing that even when the world hurts, even when my anxiety and health diagnosis isn’t what I hoped it would be, I know God is good and I can help make the world a better place.

@@loganmketterling this may sound crazy to you, but I have the same purpose. I also never doubted your earnestness in your belief. I would just encourage you to ask those questions and then, instead of just assuming you know why, go find the actual answers. Look at what lots of different people have discovered and then use reason to decide if what they are saying is true. Ask more questions, seek more answers. You will find that sometimes your intuition is correct, but many times you will find that the answers are much more nuanced. As a general rule of thumb, if you see an issue as a dichotomy (right/wrong, black/white) you are probably incorrect because this is just not how things in the real world work.
