True, but I don't see far far away as a regular traditional monarch but as a monarch Republic - Hollywood type place , cuz there's literally easily a dozen or more powerful influencers in the land , you got princess Fiona, princess Cinderella, snow white , Rapunzel , prince charming and fairy godmother who was a queen in her own right

Exactly Kings and queens aren't born there made , Shrek could of easily become a prince in his own right after saving Fiona and in the castle she was locked away was a huge pile of gold coins and gems that would make him very rich like a prince and making it easier to be king of far far away

Oh yeah, Shrek's family would be the most interesting royal family known. Fiona would make an epic queen especially because she has her own dragon, Shrek would be a king that can actually fight his own battles, and the ogre triplets, being 2 princes and 1 princess, would save lots of trouble of choosing other heirs outside the family

I feeling that because Artie is still young. He will seek counsel from fiona and her mother. They have the wisdom to help him in many ways. They may not rule the kingdom. But that doesn't mean things can't change with their help.

I Believe by whoever rescue Princess Fiona from the tower would have proven themselves King by going to the trials of rescuing her. The Princess Fiona from Shrek 1 and 2 did not want to be Queen. It wasn't until Shrek 3 it was up to Fiona to rescue herself is when she wanted to be a ruler. I believe is Princess Fiona was allowed to Rule the Kingdom she would do you like Shrek after a while and not want to rule do to her natural ogrish nature. Arthur was the best person who could be king she knew what it was like to suffer as a peasant so he would know how to rule honorably. as far as I know there is no law that states Princess Fiona Shrek could not become the monarchy later if they decided to.

Listening to what you said about everything this video, it all makes so much sense. But they honestly were a lot happier without taking the throne.

I always felt that she could have helped Shrek to be a good king, but it would have been a big challenge to get the people to accept an ogre as king unless he proved he could do it. Since he was unwilling, Fiona felt pushing him into it would be wrong & make it that much harder to accomplish. As long as she felt that a good responsible leader was in place, she was able to sacrifice her plans to be part of that leadership, even though being Queen would have given her the opportunity to have her husband change the inheritance law regarding who could rule. But that's why I commented on the video about their kids that I feel 1 or more of them might actually go back to their mother's country & help their cousin in some regard, even though he is king. After all, they are still part of the royal family there. Their mother is a crowned Princess (also their father was given knighthood by the ruler of another kingdom), & that makes them royalty. I'm certain that Fiona will teach them their family history & fighting skills too. Maybe they would become knights or hold some government position too, even the girl, as being his cousins they might be able to convince Arthur to change the kindom's law & allow for gender equality in inheritance law & government positions.

Fiona has always been a great Queen in my mind since I was a kid because she was an amazing leader and she has always been my favorite Disney character, besides Cassandra from the Tangled series. She didn’t give a crap about Charming until he tricked her into believing he was Shrek, and she is an excellent fighter, taught by her awesome mom! Go Fiona’s Mom (I don’t know her name)!

I was surprised that they left the kingdom to a teenager, one who helped saved the day, but who had no experience or proper education. Plus he doesn't even appear in the fourth film, mostly because the timeline is changed, but still. I think Fiona would make an excellent queen with her passion and hopes for the kingdom. Yes, she broke tradition by marrying an ogre and leaving her home to live in a swamp with their family to make him happy, which is good because it shows she cares for him, but her happiness matters too and she deserves to have her childhood dream come true. She worked so hard in the films and showed how capable she was, she should be queen.

I do wish Fiona at least have a chance! We see in the forth film that she's more than capable of being a leader.

Either way Fiona and Shrek would co-rule like the Pharaoh and the Great Royal Wife. She knew a lot about the kingdom and how to lead it from the many books she read and her training. Shrek knew about the rights and needs of the creatures outside and inside Far Far Away. If they ruled together then which child would be the heir apparent. The eldest or the eldest boy? Which triplet was the eldest? Or would Far Far Away split into three, Middle, Western, and Eastern Far Far Away?

You didn't use Poots in Boots as a source for the talking or average intelligence of animals in the Shrek universe. And his back story is different then what he gave in Shrek 2

I actually asked the Internet if Fiona would be an EVIL Queen in the alternate universe in Shrek 4 because she wasn’t saved from the tower and evil queens are princesses who were never saved and one person said that she would’ve been Queen if Shrek had faded from existence, but not an evil one.

I mean, it'd be interesting to find an explanation as to why Puss became fat or as to why the Muffin Man now organizes gladiator fights, as well as answering questions like where did characters like the Fairy Godmother and Lord Farquaad go? My personal theory is that it's not just the disappearance of Shrek that led to that future, but also the fact that Rumpelstiltskin retains his memories, inclining him to hate all the ogres or to ruin Shrek's old friends' lifes somehow. Reality: The third movie is so bad that they forgot that Harold was just a toad who fell in love with the princess / queen Lilian of Far far Away.

I find the third one underrated, the movie wasn’t that bad it’s definitely not emoji movie level of bad, but it’s a terrible sequel to the second one and it’s definitely the weakest and the worst one in the franchise, but it had it’s moments.

Historically, when the king of a kingdom dies the crown is passed to the oldest son but if they didn't posses a son then the princess would be married to a royal individual. Since shrek wasn't of royal blood he couldn't be crowned king, despite that he was married to the princess, due to the fact he was a commoner and not of Royal birth. The only way Fiona would've been queen of far far away was to have someone of Royal blood to rule along side her, but in doing so would have to provide the new king an heir since none of her children could be future rulers since shrek wasn't of Royal blood. Along with having this fake life with someone else in order for Fiona to be queen where it would be more or less just for show, which Fiona couldn't do to shrek.

Yes, she would have been a rightful ruler as is the birthright of her. BUT I don't think that was the point of the story. Some people truly just want to live a normal life. That's all Shrek wanted. That's how the story began was him only wanting to have his Swamp, his home because Royalty/Rulership decided they wanted to start harassing the locals. As much as Fiona loves her family, I think in the end what truly mattered was that sometimes its good to live a simple life, run a family of your own and not have to stress. Shrek was about putting parody to the classic fairytales we grew up with and put a modern spin to them to make them relatable. We've all been there with our in-laws where we felt like we had this massive pressure to please them, to fit into the family, to do our best to prove why we are in love with who we love. However, Fiona didn't fall for the peer pressure or expectations of her family or Kingdom. Fiona wouldn't ever compromise or forsaken her ideals or the woman she had become just so she could rightfully be Queen. She might be rightful for the Throne but that doesn't mean she was ever fit for it and that's not because she's a bad person but its because what she loved and valued in living a life with Shrek was more important to her than royalty ever was. Even if she could change the Kingdom for the better, that amount of responsibility would have torn Shrek and Fiona as Shrek never wanted such goals. He just wanted to be in his home in the Swamp and that isn't a bad thing to desire. At the end of the day, Fiona & Shrek represent the ideal that sometimes you don't need to be Queen. Sometimes you don't need riches, or fame, or good looks. Sometimes you just have to be you and if that's staying home to enjoy a mud bath within a Swamp, then that's okay.

Thats the problem I had with Shrek The Third I mean why can't both Shrek and Fiona rule the kingdom together but instead they were more focused on living in their swamp. They let some teenager boy become King and it was such a missed opportunity.

The issue with this is the society. It just wouldn't accept Fiona to rule cuz she's an ogre AND a woman. Sadly, changing that mentality would take decades. I think that the way the movie was written is more realistic, but i also think that having Fiona as ruler would have been better cuz it would give more possibilities for future Shrek films

well the thing is she could have reigned as Monarch, if the title of "king" wasn't exclusively a Male title. Take for example King Jadwiga of the Kingdom of Poland. Her Father only had Daughters and nearing the end of his life, a compromise was made to change the law that made it so only a King could be Monarch, by changing it so a Woman could be "King" if there were no other Male Heirs. she was actually not in line for the Throne until Her eldest sister died before their father and her second eldest sister married into the Hungarian Royal Family and the Polish Nobility didn't like him so they chose Jadwiga to be the heir.

Maybe for the fifth film, Fiona and Shrek could be Arthur's advisers but then Arthur had to sacrifice himself to save the kingdom and maybe the couple could rule next.

Why couldn’t Fiona be KING! There have been female Kings in the past in the real world.

It depends on if you believe the Maleficent movie. Since in the movie Stephen stole her wings after telling her he had given her 'love's true kiss', I would say she would have cursed Aurora regardless. If you don't believe the Maleficent movie, then it would be up for grabs.

I would have LOVED Fiona to be queen. But since it’s centered around their king, it would be redundant. I was just watching Pan Pizza's review of 2d animated DreamWorks movies. Don't you miss seeing 2d animated movies on the big screen?

This might reflect true history, where women were.mostly not allowed to rule alone, of course, over time this was this rule lifted (eg. England had many queens from 16th century on), but in the medieval times this was not allowed (eg. also from England, where Maud, daughter of Henry I. and granddaughter of William the Conqueror was overthroned by her cousin Stephan). Even that those two after years of fighting made an agreement that Stephan will rule as king until his death and will be succeeded by Maud's son Henry. This also caused change of dynasties, even though Maud was descendant of norman dynasty, her son was the first king from Plantagenet dynasty (his father was from house of Plantagenets). This happened somewhen in 12th century, and even in latter times, kings were desperate for a male heir to pass on their family name and power (eg. Henry VIII). Also if women got to rule, it was mostly as regnants for their children, while members of council tried to overthrow them. Also when a woman somehow managed to become a queen in her own right, she was strongly opposed by nobility (eg. Elisabeth I. in England, Maria Theresa in Hungary) so I think that such historical accuracies are also implemented into fairytales as well.

In theory, using the British royal family as an example, Harold shouldn't have been King either, as he married into the Royal family. Just as Prince Philip couldn't be titled King as 'King' is higher in rank than Queen. The line of succession favours male heirs, but as Lillian and Harold's only child is a daughter, Fiona, then yes, Fiona should be Queen with Shrek as Prince. But obviously the Kingdom of Far Far Away favours Kings, allowing spouses to rank higher than royal bloodline. As Shrek (and Fiona) technically abdicated, then the next male heir becomes King, which was Arthur, presumably with Lillian and Fiona acting as advisors.
