I donwloaded your dungeon mod a few days ago and I put it in all my worlds now. I haven't actually come across one (aside from creative testing to see if it works properly), but just knowing an incredible dungeon could be around any corner makes the experience that much more exciting to me. I hope you will continue to update it if it becomes incompatible with newer versions of MineCraft, because I cannot imagine going back to boring old mob spawner cubes.

Tbh i like the fact that they learned from their last live updates and the fact that they are focusing on community and tbh the camel just earned my heart especially that i am an Egyptian and i saw alot of camels before but never rode one before so this is so exciting

Oh, and about the video: I agree with you 100%. The last few updates have been wonderful (We finally have MUD!!). "No expectations so no disappointment" is precisely why I do not watch "coming update" videos about any game I care about. I get the bad taste failed promises leave in community's mouths, but I would rather quality content that works right over them cramming half-finished or broken content into the game because they bit off more than they could chew or went in a different direction. Hanging signs will be enough for me to love the new update, and it's already playable, so I am looking forward to the next update. Plus, Bamboo was long overdue for some love. I hope they add rice so we can make rice paper walls soon!

That's a great point, I'll admit I have a bad habit of looking at an excessive amount of update videos. I love getting excited for new features, but it almost inevitably leads to me being disappointed. Rice would be awesome! A food update in general would be great, especially if new food served multiple purposes, like creating a decorative block.

@@Whimzee Oh, yes. A food update would be delicious. I think there are currently more ingredients than there are recipes, which feels a bit backwards to me. Also, I would like to see a proper oven added where we would have to actually cook baked goods. It's always felt silly to me that it's done at a crafting table. I used to burn wood in an empty furnace under the crafting table to simulate baking when I made baked goods. lol

I'm really happy about the way mojang took for the 1.20 update, I was really upset over 1.19 "over promising" issue, especially because some of the features of that update supposed to be part of the 1.17 update, but now because they revealed nearly ended features, I feel really good about this update, I love the concept of focusing on the more decorative and atmospheric side of the game, adding the camels, hanging signs, bamboo rafts, the bamboo "wood", the new bookshelves

Idk I still find the newer updates rather underwhelming. The official stuff we get is often so shallow. Chat report really made me feel betrayed too.

I'm not sure if this happens to the Mojang employees working on Minecraft updates, but there are times where I struggle to stay motivated to make the stuff I want to make for Minecraft now a days. I have came up with so many ideas over the years, and I still haven't put any of my Minecraft mods out there. They aren't even in a stage to be beta tested, heck they aren't even in mod form yet. The closest I got to completing them were making textures, and that's it. But after 2020 hit everyone around the world hard, I became a lot more depressed and struggle to even get out of bed, or take care of chores. So if I struggle with it, I could imagine millions of other people now a days struggle with depression and staying motivated, including Mojang employees.

Now add a couple millions to that and see if you dont get motivated.. and even if you dont get you're a modder, they literally work for the game, so if they dont get motivated to do something fire them and get someone that do something, i understand that people get bored and lose motivation but we talking about money... our money.

great video! i see so much mojang hate around these days, mojang this, mojang that, mods do this, lazy devs. all these people just take things at face value and don't think about it more than that. and yeah as you said, people don't realise how good we have it compared to other games. just today i was reading through a load of conversations with a minecraft dev on the minecraft commands discord about some of the new changes, it's hard to imagine that happening with most other games. anyway i'll probably be sharing this around in the future, you explained everything nicely! also cool dungeon btw, i've been meaning to get into the world gen side of datapacks for a while

would love a follow up now we ave even more announcements and even an official name~! but i def agree that this is a good step for mojang! i also appreciate your little tidbit about ppl comparing the work devs do, to the work modders do, cos you're completely right that modders have a lot less to worry about with what their work effects, another point that i think these ppl who compare the two is that modders are not modding under a full-time game dev schedule (with a whole bunch of suits breathing down your neck) and have more freedom on how/when they work. if a modder, for example, wants to no-life a project in seven days and work on modding for 8-9 whole hours they can...most big company devs dont have that luxuary/freedom unless the voluntarily do (often unpaid) overtime.

the only community focused thing that isnt that nice is the mob votes because any mob that will be choosen there will be 2/3 of the community who wont be satisfied

Bro if you can make mod/datapack of robots like(CHRONOKILLER'S MECHS) so its going to be awesome

You fixed problems with the underdeveloped dungeons and added bosses WITH ANIMATIONS AND PARTICLE EFFECTS in less than a month. Not to mention you got these to auto generate in existing terrain in random configurations. They must have serious issues with leadership if you upstaged them so completely with way less time, resources and manpower. The fact that an entire development team hadn't managed to get around to fixing those things when it took ONE PERSON days to complete says that they have a development issue. My money is on antiquated tools and leadership not focusing on a combination of the most fixable and pressing issues.

i have never liked themed/named updates. they've always been a thing, but in the pre-microsoft days they never felt like it mattered; the adventure update being the exception. 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, were all updates that were pretty minimal overall but all of us remember them fondly.

Challenge accepted, terraria. Minecraft has more sales, but terraria has the better devs who have been listening to their community from day one. It ain’t no coincidence that a devteam of 12 people made the 11th best sold game in the world (as of I’m writing this).

2:20 the only one I can think of is Sea of Thieves. Pretty much every major update was once a player/ community idea

I like the idea of losing the themes for every update. The End is barren and the loot in the deep dark is mediocre. However i dont think they need a complete rework like we got with the nether. The end needs a new mob or biom. The Deep dark needs better loot. The part i disagree with you on is the quality of the minecraft updates. I don't mind that they over-promised things that didn't release. I have a problem with the low quality of the updates we DO get. The deep dark is a cool place, but there's no REASON to go there. There's no Elytra level item to justify traversing such a dangerous location. The content itself is just bad and unfinished. Thats just one example out of hundreds where Mojang adds things to the game that are borderline useless. Goats, camels, frogs, Axolotls, bats, llamas, COPPER, sniffers. They're all practically worthless if you compare them to mods and items from earlier updates. Chickens, sheep, and cows are leagues better than goats, camels, and frogs. The End has Elytra/Shulker boxes/a boss/mending gear. The deep dark has diamond pants. I want Mojang to stop releasing useless/filler content.

Runescape player base has way more on what they can do. They get to vote on literally every single update and adjustment, even all the minor ones. And updates in Runescape are constant and new content is constant, not like in minecraft.

You need to go into the launcher, play the newest snapshot, then enable the datapack that adds the features. If you're on Bedrock, I think you need to turn on experimental features, but I don't really know for sure. I only play Java edition.

I really agree with you... I have been telling my friends the same thing since minecraft live... But you also can't deny the importance of delivering teases and promises... I will still stick to my say, 1.20 isn't bad... I am really hope/sure they will add more and wow us with next snapshot... #I_Hope

The fact that people are mad about everything being delayed and halfed and etc, makes me really angry. It isn't mojang's fault. 2020 was a horrible year for everyone, and 2021, 2022, and this year so far have been pretty bad for a lot of people.

Adding is not the problem. Adding without direction or purpose is. It dilutes the game with shallow content, while they neglect many already existing aspects of the game that are in dire need of reworks and enhancements.

I understand everything you said but i still think this update sucks, they have so much money and the biggest game of all time and they cant put some cool stuff in the game one time per year??? like.. bruh theres so many mods that fit into minecraft, theres actually people from the mod community working on minecraft... why not add that to minecraft? not realistic... too fantasy? bruh we have literally a hell dimension.. like what they did with the 1.19 removing stuff for stupid reasons.. i understand that this is a way for them to have less work but bruh they get millions and millions every year, they can do better than this. And just do add im not trying to put hate on you okay, is just that mojang annoys me, dumb decions made with lots of money, minecraft deserves better.

@@ColaDad Bamboo, trims, netherite nerf, diamond buff, camels, sniffer, archaelogy, pots, decorated pots, a TON of technical changes and bug fixes, new controls (mobile), new menu, control customization (mobile), MASSIVE 'nbt' overhaul etc. These are just off the top of my head. I doubt you remember much of anything. 1.20 was a good customization update. Not the greatest but NOT 'meh'.

I want to be respectful when I say this, but you’re getting a lot wrong. You say Minecraft has a lot of community input, and I guess at face value it does. But designing different mobs and biome changes and then having the community vote which of them shouldn’t be cut is bad community input. There is no community as far as Mojang goes. There is no unified vision at Mojang. There are some working there that are super creative and get their ideas past a brain-dead management i.e. sculk, underground cities, nether biomes, village update, bees. and then there’s the visionless devs and the brain-dead management that put out useless and/or game breaking additions, i.e. turtles, underwater conduits, foxes, phantoms, elytras, and the fact that there is such an emphasis on adding locations and blocks that don’t interact with anything else already in the game. Gameplay comes in drops. At its heart, Minecraft is a medieval-industrial fantasy game set in what feels like a mysterious post apocalyptic time period. There should be more fantastical mobs with multiple functionalities that drop a variety of items with multiple functionalities. Combat NEEDS a ground-up overhaul desperately. There’s so much else that would be enhance the game immensely: the ability for villages to grow and the player to found a kingdom, survival mechanics like temperature and fatigue, bosses with more movesets, actual challenges late game in the overworld that necessitate shelters with defenses. Fighting is so boring and frustrating that I completely avoid it. I wish I didn’t have to. That one Zelda boss you coded into your updated Jungle Temple was really cool except for the voice lines (they were good, just don’t fit in Minecraft)
