    I'm on a very low level comp team, and for a while, all we had were frontlines and midlines. no one played backline or anchor. we finally found someone, but they're in a very different timezone than us. I'm trying to re learn all the typical anchor weapons so that we don't have to rely on them solely, but I've been doing Frontline for so long, it's very difficult. I will say that TRI stringer has been the easiest to learn, since it's very mobile. anyway ty mino (said backline) for helping and being so patient 😋💕

    I'm a tri stringer main and it makes sense that you'd be able to pick it up, it's definitely the most easy backline to play at midline and more aggro. However, if it's your only anchor, you really should try to play it more as a pure anchor, and not go in as close, because it's really what your team will need

    I'm just playing randoms in series but using the Explo and Hydra Splatling more seriously had made me learn how rough switching from frontlines to mid and back weapons are because of how much I'm relying on the other people so much. I find myself as these weapons at the front of the team way more often than I'd like, partially because it's what I'm used to and I need to break out of that, and partially because the front liners are off in some weird position that's largely unhelpful

I got sniped a couple of times early on but the opponents stayed at a distance to control their space from their elevated spots and weren't really able to push well. I was on quick respawn and in the last minute or so we just constantly overpowered and outnumbered them. it was annoying but in the end it was a fairly easy win

    What I would recommend to do is to practice on using torpedo by trying to throw it behind the opponent

  • @4Monadonis2

    @4Monadonis2

    Жыл бұрын

    If you're approaching from limited cover, chuck torpedoes at them when you see them ready to fire, then paint-n-swim and off to the side of the torpedo while approaching them, and dodge roll once to break the last bit of distance you need to approach. dodge roll again if you need to dodge an attack, or to gain more ground if you see them retreating from the first dodge roll early on. Or if you have a teammate approaching with you, act as an extra distraction and dodge attacks by swimming and rolling while the teammate gets the job done. If you have an available flank route, you might throw a torpedo from a frontline position first to reveal your position. (This may not always be something you want to do.) Then, use your lightweight speed to take the flank to try and approach safely for a close-up fight. Revealing your initial position before taking the flank can trick them into thinking you're still apporaching head-on. If you do it too often, they might predict what you're doing and preemptively pivot to a different position, so try mixing it up by not throwing the torpedo all the time to keep your position hidden entirely.

    If you're going to try and approach a longer-ranged weapon, especially one like a charger with a one-shot, it'll get to a point where you either aren't seen until you're in range or it's just not safe to push. You can't expect a charger to miss after a certain level of skill; you may get lucky sometimes, but their aim gets too good for that. If you can sneak up on them in under ~10 seconds it might be worth going for, but if it would take any longer than that before you're having an impact on the match again, just play around cover on a different part of the map so the charger just can't see you.

Although I primarily play turf wars most of the time tilt still happens to me and it even ended up with one time where I broke my switch comfort grip due to me tilting. Kinda weird how sometimes you don't tilt and other times in the span of one game you go from good to borderline putz12. Wonder why does that happen?

    I’m glad this topic was discussed. Within the community I also see frontline players complain about e liters being OP and there aren’t enough flanks. While e liter is the best anchor in the game, it’s still an anchor and it’s very comp dependent. In most cases, all players have to do is move an e liter out it’s spot to effect it. Once it’s line of sight is gone, that’s when it’s time to push the objective. It’s basically 3v4 at that moment.

    This one time on Splatoon 2 Sturgeon Shipyard, I, a Custom Splattershot Jr., was paired off with 3 other chargers. At first, I pushed with the Chargers. And then soon enough, the 3 Chargers were just pretty much spawncamping the other team. Which then I would jump back and ink my base. And when I got my Inkstorm, I just superjumped to a charger to unleash it. And when a charger died, I would just jump to the front to cover for them until they respawned again. Basically, the other team wasn't having a fun time.

    I'd assume that midlines are sort of a middle ground. They don't excel at pushing forwards and gaining space like a frontline, they don't excel at locking down an area and holding space like a backline, but they can do appreciably well at either job, so you get a more flexible team comp if you have one of them.

    On the off shot you see this comment: When you say a team should have 2 frontline weapons, is there in general or specifically frontline slayers/skirmisher? Asking because I usually play support for my team

  • @SquidSchool

    @SquidSchool

    Жыл бұрын

    Support is a different role. I address this in the video; if your playstyle isn't to be playing aggressively to start fights and push the enemy team back, you're not going to help push the zone of control forward. If you try and push the zone of control forward aggressively with something like a junior, you're probably going to lose the matchup against a .52 gal or tetras or splash and fail to accomplish your goal.

    Snipers are a problem child of any shooter game, 1-shot from any range. Very high skill ceiling which can make the sniper almost invincible. At least chargers don't have full map range and there's some 3D terrain, but Eliters are still the problem child of splatoon.

  • @Arcavi0us

    @Arcavi0us

    Жыл бұрын

    Nah, counterplay exists especially in Splatoon. Eliter isn't the problem child of this game. It's map design. Eliter was good in both 1 and 2 consistently but not a dominant force because map design keeps them balanced. Cover and flank routes in s3 are a bit of a luxury but a long range weapon is still a weapon with weakness and if that isn't covered by your teamates it can and will be punished

    You have to move forward on Splat Zones. If you don't, the enemy team gets to walk back to mid after a fight and immediately start painting the zone again. If you're in their spawn, they have to fight you first, so either you win and then you're still in their spawn, or you lose but instead of losing after they've already neutralized the zone because you let them get that far for free, now they have to spend another 5 seconds getting to the zone, and you're scoring and respawning that whole time.

Joking a side the maps really are the culprit, when you can cover nearly all of the action with no risk of flank routes the game turns from multiplayer shooter game to shooting gallery.
