I'm Damaris and I am a full-time accountant at a big 4 firm. More specifically, I specialize in audits in the telecommunication, pharmaceutical, energy and banking industry. I’ve worked on audits ranging from Public Interest Entities and listed companies, to local mom & pop shops, helping them create a financial statement that is suitable for reporting purposes. Currently, I am specializing in the implementation and audit of emerging technologies such as blockchain, RPA, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The kindgebonden budget is mainly for parents who face more costs than usual to raise their child. For example when the child is disabled or seriously ill and needs special care or adaptations that need to be made in the house, or the continuous presence of the parent, or if they need special care and attention at school. Dutch children have much freedom, yes, they bike everywhere from an early age. What's important to mention here is, they do this unsupervised. A child of 9, 10 years old goes to school, friends, clubs on his own. Without his parents.
1 Thing is also very important: Education and how this develops more and more. Teachers know the special effect of intrinsic motivation and use it every day. or better: the kids use it every schoolday:>) Nice topic though!
Interesting topic Damaris. I believe you will make a fine parent one day. I like that you provided pictures of many different looking families. Yes, I think Americans could take a few lessons from others in the world about how to provide a more stable and nurturing home environment for children. The family unit is an integral part of The Human Experience that I do not think we put enough emphasis on. The world would be a better place if the people were raised in a loving and nurturing environment. There are a lot of people out there who don't even know their birth parents. That can be a sad situation. But it is also a little Pollyanna on my part to think that everyone can have a solid family unit. Thank you for the information and your thoughts. Keep striving and making moves Damaris. I think you are going to do something in the humanitarian field sometime in your life. Curious to see.

what made you want to move to the Netherlands?
I wouldn't ride a bike, especially in that horrible weather. I'm an American...I need a big V8 muscle car to drive two blocks!

Good luck in finding a parking space, paying road tax and insurance and discovering that your big V8 muscle car is banned from many parts of the cities. Chances are you'll have to get out of your car at the end of the first block because the second block is a designated pedestrian area.
