No offense as this is not meant to be a negative response but the reason you feel that way is because you’re depending on Uber/Lyft too much When these companies started, they were never intended for people to use full-time and pay their bills/raise their family/buying houses … they were designed to use as extra work on the side to make some extra money or pick up a ride here and there when you were going to a certain location Start networking with your passengers and get involved and some other type of work that you can offer them while you were talking to them and also start asking if they take Uber frequently and try to see if those rides make sense to you to offer them private ride service Which pays 2 to 3 times more than what the Uber Ride will pay you Good luck out there

I'm driving for both. Like you, I can't stand the constant trip radar requests, and the destination filter for going home is a joke. This morning, Uber said going 15 minutes in the wrong direction was on my way home! Lyft also has its issues. This morning, my rider was going from her hotel to a restaurant. It was a $5.75 trip. After we left the pickup spot, she added a second destination, the airport, which was in the opposite direction. So my ride distance and time DOUBLED, and Lyft did not adjust my fare at all. I complained multiple times via the app and kept getting the same responses. It was so infuriating. They finally got tired of me and gave me $5 as a "one time courtesy". lol... Bottom line, I've found Uber passengers tip more frequently, so that ends up being a bit more lucrative.

Must be a highly "depends on your market" thing. But lyft better than uber... uh, don't think so. They're both horrible. In my market (Tampa Bay, FL) lyft pay sucks donkey balls. As bad as uber is, lyft's pay offers run 20%-30% less than uber offers for similar time/miles. On those rare instances where you can stack several of lyft's bonuses... that just gets you back to about the same as uber's base pay. Yeah, sure, lyft's driver app has a couple quality of life features that are nicer for drivers. But you can't pay your rent or buy groceries with "nicer" app features.

I’ve noticed Lyft giving lots of, pretty much weekly, “ride challenges”. You’re given an option of three “tiers”, the more required rides the larger the monetary bonus. I pick one and then setup a “stay within area” filter. It allows me to complete the rides I need in a decent amount of time and even though the rides are relatively short I still make money and get a the bonus within the allotted amount of days. It adds up and I end the week always making my earnings goal.

I hate that too. You'd think by now they would have poked their heads out of the office to find out about speech to text features on smartphones, and do away with that annoyance. Also, the "LIMIT TAPS" warning is another pisser. Sometimes, I just need to unzoom the mapp so I can get a better idea of where the pax is going - because their mapping sux too - and the "Limit Taps" warning pops up repeatedly. It's more of a driving distraction than just letting me use the maps like I want to.

Mostly not true… At least not here in N. Florida. Uber is horrific, but Lyft is even worse. When you set “stay in area,” the bonuses magically disappear. And I’m in one of the most popular and busiest tourist areas in the nation. Long trips routinely pay .40-.50 per mile. Those are undrivable. Short trips are just as bad. Turbo is useless unless it is >30%. And if it is high what do they do? THEY DON’T GIVE YOU ANY RIDES. This way it keeps you from doing Uber, which is their actual goal. When Turbo is high, (if you get a ping) the rides are long pickups and average out to about .70 per mile. Not even enough to cover the cost of ownership and operation of a vehicle. The “70% guarantee” is also bullshit… and you should know better. Yes, they have expenses… SO DO WE! So their expenses get paid first after deducting mystery fees, then we get 70% of what’s left? In what universe is that fair?? Please don’t shill for these monsters. I’ve been driving 9 years in various markets and both platforms suck. But Lyft is much worse than Uber in every way… making it just about undrivable.

For a $9.25 ride, would you drive for 45 minutes, wasting gas and depreciating your car (tires, oil, maintenance, adding all those miles), and on top of that, at the end of the year, you pay 25-30% in taxes? So if we do the math, you made $4.5 in 45 minutes. It’s a scam; steer clear of them.

To whom it may concern you can always turn down your volume on your phone, if Uber overrides that which happens because I've proven that Uber overrides that while you're manually holding down the volume button it will it will technologically override your physical control of the of the button and still increase the volume to maximum a for trip radar, turn off all sound notifications, and then when that gets override the next work around is to turn on do not disturb, everything will technologically work unless you authorize it, the only problem I find with that is if you're using the voice navigation that will no longer be able to be heard so once you have a ride going turn back on your do not disturb so you can hear the voice navigation and then you know turn it back and off accordingly, also use two phones

In my area, Lyft has ruled for 7 years with about 80% of the business. Lyft now shows map layers (called Map Explorer) that show you wait times, recent ride demand, nearby drivers, and gas discounts. The nearby drivers layer shows up to 20 drivers, as opposed to seeing the maximum of 8 on the passenger app. Lyft does do the pop-up radar thing but it's only when there are very few rides out there, and usually only when you're using a destination filter. I have noticed that on rides with bonus features and/or percentage turbo 10%-40% by the hour, the ride base fees are adjusted so that the fees come out about the same as they would have on a normal ride. I think those are just gimmicks to get drivers to accept rides they would otherwise turn down. Uber in our area shows nothing but the driver pay per mile seems to be a bit higher. But I lave the Lyft app on while I'm heading to an Uber pickup, and if anything appealing comes through, I cancel the Uber fo the sure thing on the Lyft ride. I've sent this info to Uber but they really don't even want to do business here at all - so it falls upon deaf ears - go figure.

I agree with these reasons. More reasons I prefer lyft now is no acceptance rate or cancelation rate. My area is still busy enough that I usually will get another ride pretty quickly if I cancel. I have found that I can get 3 to 8 more rides in a day if I only wait for a rider for 2 to 3 minutes before I cancel the ride. Waiting the extra time for a low cancelation fee is not worth it to me, especially on a $4 to $5 ride. When I cancel after 2 to 3 minutes I almost always get a better paying ride within a minute or two. I make more by taking the loss on the time and distance I traveled to a rider that isn't ready then I would by losing the time waiting for them. Also it is in the worst sections in my area that the riders make me wait the longest. It is not safe for me to be park in these areas.

REALLY GREAT VIDEO! I both agree and disagree with some points though. My experience multi-platforming is that UBER upfront fares can be better than Lyft. But the key is to accept only the rides that are worth it. UBER RESERVATIONS and airport rides can be significantly more. But at least in Los Angeles, the time to review an offer request on UBER is not 10 seconds… it is often 3 seconds and sometimes 2, meaning I go to accept and it disappear!!! (Providing no time to review an offer should be illegal… don’t they know that we’re often driving when a request comes in? Lyft is definitely better in that regard, but Lyft definitely changed the trip radar so now it brings up a confusing new screen with multiple rides and very fine print that’s hard to read. The old way was better because you could see the info on the main map for just the ride you were wanting to check out, etc. Also, without bonuses, my pay has gone from $35-$45/hr to $18 - $25 / hr… before expenses, meaning rideshare is no longer a profitable business for drivers. I keep trying to find ways to make up for the loss of bonuses, but only taking the higher paying rides often means I end up exhausted and hours away from home. The destination filters on UBER are completely useless. Both apps don’t care about driver fatigue. Lyft gives ZERO warnings about being kicked off the app nor any info of when you can start driving again. UBER is so much better in the regard. Also. both UBER & Lyft are no longer paying that much more, if anything, for comfort rides. It’s inexcusable that they don’t tell us about changes that affect our livelihood, treat us a slaves, etc. (They both say QUESTS and Ride Challenges are offered “periodically”, but that’s hard to fathom or believe… is my landlord going to allow me to pay the rent periodically?

I do Uber more because I can do rides, Eats, Shop+Pay, alcohol delivery. With Lyft and DD, it's only either rides or deliveries. It's nice to break it up. But I agree, Lyft gives you more bonuses. If I'm offline for two weeks, I'll have $300 for 10 rides. I haven't seen that with Uber at all. It surges a lot in our area, too, and the most odd times. I'm still sticking with Uber, its how I'm able to keep my rental

I would have to agree with you on a lot of things you pointed out. I do in fact drive both Uber and Lyft. I don't drive Uber as much because the ride challenges that are sent to me are ridiculous. Like most of the challenges are for 30 rides for $5. And I notice there's barely any surge within my area. I tried to turn the app on for Uber;but the rides are priced far too low on Uber. So,I just keep the Uber app off completely. On Lyft,I noticed I'm getting paid a little more than what Uber is playing for the rides itself. I still see surge within my area and I'm also getting bonus and turbo to help earn a little more money. I do like the fact their trip radar on Lyft doesn't constantly beep at you how Uber does. I feel like Uber is becoming an app that's becoming very frustrating because of the annoying trip radar. And because they keep sending shitty pay rides at you.

I feel the pay is crap on both apps. I drive a luxury car and I used to count on getting maybe 1 or 2 Lux requests with Lyft. Those would boost my income for the day significantly. Then Lyft did away with the Lux option. Uber still offers Premier, which is similar to Lux. Now I'm always hoping for Premier requests, but they are few and far between. I am currently seeking another source of income. Driving rideshare is really not worth it. When you subtract your expenses out of your earnings it doesn't leave much. Factor in the wear and tear and depreciation on your car and you're probably in negative numbers. Now factor in the risks of an accident a breakdown, a traffic citation, it's just not a good way to make money.

Better pay from Lyft must be entirely dependent upon market. In my market (OC, CA) I usually get a never-ending string of minimum paying, $2.40 rides on Friday and Saturday nights. I've been waking up at Oh Dark Thirty the past few days to compare morning prices since my school job will be ending in a couple weeks and Lyft *does* offer me way more airport runs to ONT/SNA/LAX/LGB. I think Uber is holding a grudge because my acceptance rate is so low (10%). I haven't even been offered an LAX run in over a year and it's been since October or so since I've been offered a reserved ride aside from any that are missed by whomever *DID* accept it.

Same in my area (McAllen, Texas). Uber doesn't even want to do business here. In 7 years, I've never even seen a streak bonus or received one of those elusive "pickup premiums" they try to entice us with by saying "likely". And because I can't see what Uber is offering, on long pickups, I leave the Lyft app on while I'm heading toward the Uber pax. If anything decent comes through on Lyft, I'll cancel the Uber and take the sure thing on Lyft. In this sense, Uber is making a big mistake by NOT listening to drivers.

I find lately on Lyft, that unscheduled ride-backs don't pay double the fare like they should. I had one that asked to return to her hotel for a 12 mile trip and the app only added $3 over the upfront pay. Complaining didn't change it either. So now, when the pax asks for a return trip, I pretend to accidentally end the ride and tell them that I'll wait 5 minutes and they can order another when they get back in the car. Of course, if a better ride comes through, I take it. It's all about the money!

Uber also pretends pickups don't exist when pulling up your trip activity, making it impossible to track your active times. Their destination filter is also terrible, "toward my destination" can literally end with you only 0.1 miles closer to your destination. Uber keeps trying to screw over third party apps like Maxymo and Mystro. Uber forces me to wait 7 minutes before I can get my cancelation fee. I could go on and on, I hate Uber. I do both but my resentment for Uber continues to grow, but I have no choice because that's where the money is (especially from tips, Lyft passenger tips are downright mythological in my market).

1 I agree... Trip radar is super annoying, mainly because it doesn't show me where it's going so I don't accept it if I don't know what direction it's sending me. 2. Uber almost always pays more here. Slowest times Uber pays more... Kind of busy times, Lyft will do a little better and I'll stay on there. Crazy busy and I'll kill it on Uber as they have much better surges and much more business. 3. This is definitely much better. 4. 70% rule is BS. They pay the difference, but it should never be below that because they charge 10% or more for commercial insurance as well here in Nashville. In Cali they drag them through the mud for commercial insurance, yet the customers seem to pay the same fares. Getting the $5-10 back that's below it is cool, but I'd prefer they didn't screw me at all and stop taking so much altogether. 5. It's great, but not when the pay isn't anywhere near as good as Uber. That and most of the rides in downtown here, you'd be a fool to take. It'll take you 45 minutes to move a half mile. Lyft as an app is better than Uber. The functionality is better. The stuff they are more open about is an improvement... But the money isn't better on Lyft for me at all. Not even close.

I'm pretty new to all of this, about four months, but from what I've seen so far Lyft is definitely the superior platform. I really like their destination platform, and I also seem to get more riders tipping me. The 70% guarantee is terrific and I got my first one a week or two ago. However, unless I misunderstand it, tips are included in the computation of whether you reached 70% or not. If I'm reading it correctly I don't think that is fair, because tips are not a part of Lyft's fare but rather a gift to us from our passengers. That said, the guarantee is still superior to what the competition offers. I'll still use both because Uber has provided me with excellent reservation opportunities, and quite often with a follow up reservation that is close to the destination of the first reservation.
