One thing to keep in mind is the fact that the Warriors have so much firepower on offense means there is less pressure on Draymond to be a scorer (which isn’t his forte at all) and so he’s able to pour all his attention into the defensive details which is his god given strength. If only play good defense when you have Iggy on your team. Iggy is the guy who really improve others on to play great defense. Great defender can't never only show up when his team is a elite offense. Great defender has to make difference when his team has a poor quality of offense, like Rudy, Ben Wallace, Kevin Garnett, metalworldpeace, this type of players by their defense made their team makes playoffs and final. The turnovers and fouls really come into focus when the shots are not dropping like in the last few games. Holding the other team to 100 or less isn't always going to work. Last night Pacers had the low shooting percentage but were up most of the game because of turnovers. Even if fouls were lopsided, it's easier to look past those because officiating bias and sometimes you have to test, if for instance the officiating crew is down one member like last night. 😐😅😐.

There is a lot I could say about Draymond, but I think his absolute love for the game and undeniable competitiveness is unrivaled. He is absolutely in love with Basketball and it translates onto the court. I have stopped many three on one breaks in pickup basketball in my time on the court, which I have never seen anyone else really do. It is a unique talent I seem to have with this particular sport. I do it against people of various sizes and skill, yet Draymond does it against the most elite athletes in the world. He is truly a David amongst Goliaths and it shows that Basketball, while requiring great skill, size and athleticism to thrive , is truly a thinking man’s game and can be dominated by the player with the greatest mind. Draymond is that player and that is the best compliment I can think to pay him. The smartest Ball player I have ever seen!

Draymond Green is one of the best players in the league period. In my opinion anyway, if you disagree it's because you overvalue scoring. It's important, yes but in a team sport you NEED guys who can do the other things too and Draymond does literally everything else except for score and on top of that he makes everyone around him better at those things. He'll never win an MVP but there's a reason he's my favorite active player right now. I love watching him operate as much as I like watching Steph shoot.

Hey, Bill Russell. How's it going? What do you think of this guy, this Draymond Green? I certainly would like to hear your opinion of Draymond Green. Is there anyone in the last fifty years of the NBA who's so similar to your playing style?

He's very good on defense, but his biggest defensive skill is his effort, by far, in a league that almost entirely disregards defense and defensive effort a guy that truly breaks his ass on defense will look like a top 10 defender of all time, even if he isn't. So more than his very good defensive skill I'd say it's his willig¡ngness to defend and defend well that makes him a great defender, mostly in today's NBA. Also we can't ignore that the refs let him "defend more" than most other players by letting him handcheck when contesting or chasing opponents or being more physical down low and when contesting (this happens to a few other players too, but nevertheless it clearly helps), and they also give him a few drawn charges that almost no other player gets. So for me it's 80% effort, 10% skill (though in other eras when defense is actually important it would be more like 60/30 or 50/40) and 10% that extra inch (sometimes foot) the refs allow him

There isn't one player in the league that can say that Dray isn't one of the best or the best defensive player in all the league. Draymond usually guards and locks down the best player on the opposing team. With out a doubt Draymond should be and is the DPOY.

They want to award DPOYs to guards who can stop top players (the Kobe stoppers or the Jordan stoppers) or Centers who stay near the ring and block shots. Draymond is actually both. And he has shown he can guard the shifty perimeter player AND the rim in the same play. I don't think Rodman or Bill Russell or Gobert can do that. And to add to that, he Directs the defensive alignment of his team mates when he can PREDICT the plays his opponents are about to hatch. So, ... yeah, when he says he is the best at what he does, he is judging his defensive prowess using his own standards. If you want to compare him to a 7 ft center who won't (can't) chase 3point shooters so he can camp near the basket and accumulate the most blocked shots per season.. that's fine. The coaches and real fans know better.

Mix his historically elite defense and fantastic play making/ decision making he most definitely is a 1st ballot hall of Fame.
