After like 15 years of watching Muslim/Jew/Agnost~Atheist (like Bart Ehrman) vs Christian debates and having had the good fortune of talking/debating with Christians in real life, I can now finally say that I am done with wasting time on watching debates. The Christian failed to make a good case in the 90~95% of all debates that I have watched in my life, and in the few debates where the Christian 'won', it felt more like that was mostly the case where the opponent (usually the younger and inexperienced debaters/scholars) wasn't sufficiently well-versed, well-spoken or was nervous and tripped up to rebuke the Christian properly. christianity is like a house with rotten pillars; just a kick or two is enough to bring it down. For that reason, it is no wonder that open-minded and rational Christians leave christianity when it comes to obviously man-made super ambigious concepts such as the trinity, the absurdly unfair original sin theory, only John making divine claims about Jesus (for Mark, Matthew and Luke those 'claims' about Jesus were not important???), God instructing his people to only worship him alone for milennia, only for suddenly a polytheistic teaching like the trinity to be introduced? We can go on and on and on. Christians are standing on very thin ice, no wonder christian debaters get overwhelmingly debunked and christian preachers start to flip-flop when you confront them with logic and facts. Recently, I was talking with a guy who attended a Catholic seminar for years. When I cornered him about the contradictions (regarding e.g. monotheism, the commandments etc.) between the OT and NT, he dumped the OT saying "the OT is for the Jews, we only adhere to the NT". What a circus, what a joke. So, the OT, which is an indispensible part of the Christian Bible that Christian scholars throughout history have abused to find therein justification for the divinity of Jesus, trinity etc. gets dumped like that on the spot by someone who even attended a Catholic seminar. May Allah forgive them for what they are doing.

Truth will always prevail against falsehood. We can watch 500 debates, you won't see even 5 debates anyone winning against Muslims. And even those 5 videos, it's non-Muslim preacher against a Muslim layman he met on the road or park. Muslims are not afraid to listen or research any religion. but you don't usually see people of other faith learn other faiths.

So you want them to be silenced and just sit there and be lectured... That is not debating... That is not an argument to validate or promote Islam... Debating is not an opportunity to do dawah which is Deception... Debating is an opportunity to be faced with a worthy opponent and somebody who doesn't agree with everything you have to say or offer... That's the problem of Muslim debaters/apo'lie'gists ... They actually think they need to be protected from critique while they want to critique their opponents views, beliefs, practices and personality without the same protection, whatever that means... If you view debates as a platform to inform, teach and spread awareness while respecting the rights of others to do the same you will have a win win situation... But as you can't afford to lose, you have to resort to crying about not being subjected to critique while you dish it out😮😮😮😮

Just imagine how the Prophet Muhammad pbuh spread the word of Islam, did he do debates or gently call them to Islam and leave and not sit with those who mocked it. Another part that makes me feel uneasy is some Muslim debaters although at the start have good intentions, let the adrenaline rush and ego get to them and they start debating and slandering their own fellow Muslims. Especially in the ugliness of social media, which KZread preacher is better than the other, what can I slander about the other, humans are fallible, even if they make mistakes message them privately, what happened to following the ways of the Quran and Sunnah because of this there's fitnah in the ummah and now the enemies of Islam are making content out of their beefs to show Islam is not as united when it's just hasd of advancing one's internet fame at the expense of another. Al-Mustawrid reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever eats so much as a morsel at the expense of a Muslim’s reputation, then Allah will feed him the likes of it in Hell. Whoever clothes himself with a garment at the expense of a Muslim’s reputation, then Allah will clothe him with the likes of it in Hell. Whoever stands in a position of repute and fame at the expense of a man, then Allah will make him stand in a position of repute and fame on the Day of Resurrection.” Source: Sunan Abī Dāwūd 4881 Grade: Sahih li ghayrihi (authentic due to external evidence) according to Al-Albani

I mean at this point, those who attack Islam, mainly attack it from a liberal point of view.. so it actually liberalism the only ideology that is debated.. they cannot challenge our theology.. then they try to challenge morality.. so in my opinion studying the down side n the danger of liberalism on societies is key for dawah in this age.. we just have to prove that Charia is better for societies.. then it easier for people to accept Islam.. Many reason with Islam and they are stopped from accepting it because of some liberal ideas.. Gender roles.. Capital punishement in Islam.. proving that priority should be given to society first.. not prioritize individual desires.. that the main issues in the dawah today

I have yet to witness a fruitful dialogue between Muslim and Christian. Christians typically employ emotionalism, circular argument, logical fallacies including ad hominem attacks directed at the Muslims or invariably at the Messenger ﷺ. It’s beyond hopeless. However Allah ﷻ nonetheless commands us to try to arrive at a “common word” with them. I rarely see Inter-faith dialogue aimed towards this. Perhaps my Muslim brothers will abandon polemics for the Qur’anic imperative instead. Truth has been made clear from falsehood. The Internet has made all information available. People are free to choose if they have an interest. Our da’wa should be mostly towards strengthening the Believers and inviting nonbelievers, but not engaging in pointless polemics.

Ahmed Deedat was a man who believed in the power of debate to teach others about their religion. He dedicated his life to spreading awareness and understanding of Islam to anyone who would listen. His debates were not just about proving his point, but about getting people to think critically and deeply about their beliefs. It is said that his influence even motivated people like Doctor Ali Ataie to pursue comparative religion. Although some may argue that debating non-Muslims is pointless, Deedat's life shows us that it can be a tool for education and growth.

Even I have experienced exactly that myself. Even though I'm not well-versed in Islam but when it comes to core beliefs I hold onto them with every ounce of my being due to the very simple, clear, and logical nature of Islamic core belief i.e absolute monotheism . And when I start comparing Christian core beliefs to Islamic ones in light of the monotheistic view of God both in the glorious Qur'an and the OT and NT Christianity just starts falling apart. What eventually happens is if I'm pointing that out to a Christian they start becoming either belligerent towards Islam or they resort to extreme nitpicking and facile interpretations of the holy Qur'an which kinda proves the shaky grounds they stand on.

A mere debate is not anything tangible that demonstrates Islam's ability to make things better.... In fact in many cases Islam has made things worse and continues to do so. You win debates. What prophet is that to you? What is the redeeming value? Jesus said WHAT SHALL IT PROFIT A MAN TO GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD AND LOSE HIS SOUL "when I start comparing Christians core beliefs..,, " belief is only one component..Its not ONE SIZE FITS ALL as what you believe "Christianity is just falling apart" You take it as a political presentation....wherein a politician who sweet talk to win a debate automatically makes him the best leader ignoring everything else.

@@jared2244 i dont think you even read what was being commented bro. Why are you even looking for something tangible in a literal verbal debate. You think some contractual law or amendment will be vomited out showing the rights and wrongs that are being debated? And there is this double standard of how when it comes to people who claim to be islam, you generalize all of the moderates and extremists all as one, when many times they dont even claim to be representative of the other, yet people like you dont even want to claim ownership or fellowship with your own extremists who use the label of either christianity or democracy or atheistic beliefs or whatever. And how did you bring in the topic of prophets to suddenly and abruptly link to debate? "Belief is only one component" brother belief is literally the fundamental component in helping a person determine their reason for existence, and whether the belief should be in primarily of one true god, or belief that money is power, or any other belief can be debated in your own time, when you are in the right mind to debate. And id argue that belief is what keeps our souls intact, yet you argue that a fundamental belief is not important while at the same time quoting Jesus pbuh (unsure if real or falsified, but the quote means you should have believed in it) that people lose their souls ie their core beliefs for the sake of the world. You can try to argue that the soul does not mean belief, but looking up a dictionary says a soul links to spirituality, and spirituality is tied to belief, so youd have a weak argument there. The prior comment about how "christianity is falling apart" is literally shown in your comment with how you deflect the question and dont reassert your own core beliefs to tie your christianity to, which is literally why people think it is weak.

99% of the time debates don't benefit the person you are debating because they usually have ill intentions. But they do benefit the people who are LISTENING to the debate. If no one is listening to the debate and it's just one-on-one then you need to know if the person is sincere. If they're not, then you are wasting your time because they will start quoting verses from the Quran, you will explain every one of them, they say "well what about this verse, and what about that hadith?", by the time you explain everything to them A guy once brought me a list of Quranic verses to show me how "violent" Islam was. I took only one of the verses and showed how he took it out of context. He wanted to play the game of "well about this verse, and that verse, and that hadith" while completely ignoring that I just exposed his lie with the first verse. I told him "Wait wait wait....I just showed how you took a verse out of context. I want you to ADMIT you just took a verse out of context to support your lie". He told me he didn't lie and will prove it by talking about the other verses to which I responded "NOPE. I want you to ADMIT you just took a verse OUT OF CONTEXT". He kept wanting to continue by going from verse to verse, but after he saw I persistent I was in having him admit he took verse out of context he said "ok fine I didn't know it was out of context but you will see how violent Islam is from the other verses". To which I replied "Well, if you didn't know then you clearly are not educated enough to critique Islam and should get educated on the matter first." This is when I just shut him down and didn't proceed to play his game. The point is, don't get dragged into their game where you are always on the defense. When you point out a lie, they will respond by going to another lie. Don't let them do that. Pin them down and do not let them jump from one lie to another because you will never finish responding.

I always find it extremely confusing, why certain people keep doing videos of debates with the same mockers over and over again (eg shouting fest at speakers corner and certain youtube channels) -as if they are actually partners and helping each others. Made me have bad suspicion that they are doing this for youtube thumbs votes or popularity. I have to pray 59:10 over and over again because I was scared that I am not a good person for disliking those style of "so-called-da'wah". Yet at different occasion they keep on spreading the same accusation again & again. Clearly they didn't want to establich the truth, they just want to force their version of 'truth' towards public

Sometimes its turn into Liberalism vs Islam. Or how to argue about what do you mean by "we", "do", and "that". But we can't denied that they are those skeptic that are genuinely curious about the truth and most interested in debating about the truth like why monotheism is important for Islam, comparison of prophethood in Islam and Christianity or how Islam see Jesus pbuh and is it similar to the early christian. All of these are questions asked by Christian and its not surprising considering God praised the Christian priests and monks because they are humbled and not arrogant. But these "apologists" are neither a monk nor a priest, so not only they are arrogant but they also associate with some repulsive people that are against their Christian beliefs.

I feel the same way. There is not much substance behind western scholarly research on the origins of Qur'an. It is approaching the level of absurdity. It was written down. Written material were verified by the prophet, and memorized by the Companians. Osman had to send copies to the provinces. Copies were examined and approved by the companions. If someone had a bad copy here and there, which has not been destroyed. it does not matter.

Exactly what I have been saying. The Dawahwise initiative is good and I applaud them but my comments and questions never get answered because I see no reason for engaging Non Muslims or Christians who have no interest in civil exchange of ideas or constructive criticism, instead all they want is to fault find, insult or distort Islam and have no interest in genuine exchange or learning. So why they put much energy in trying to convince those people baffles me because I feel it a waste of time. Time better spent with respectable non Muslims or Christians who wish to learn. Simple.

I've always preferred to look at what is in common. For example, I like the book of psalms and some of the passages there. I like some of the passages presented by other faiths too and see the commonalities across the Abrahamic faiths. I'm a big fan of the Vs. debates and all that etc.. I have too much to focus on improving myself and being good in the roles I occupy.

Then shaykh, maybe you should create a platform that is just answering all the accusation of those kind of people that attacking Islam. Because maybe you don't want to debate those people but those people, like you say, come to young muslims who don't know the answers. Those young muslims need to know the answers before that people come to them.

I am quite disagree. Of all the people watching the debates, maybe there will be people who will analyse the debates with open mind. These people who are seeking for the truth, maybe they can benefit from the debate. To conclude, these debates will be watched for generations to come and will be watched again and again. Just like Ahmed Deedat's video, i keep on watching without feeling bored. We need more new information to address to the non muslims and not to address to the same old issues. Tq

Bare in mind brothers he's not saying debating on this topic vs nonbelievers is useless he said it's useless if you tend to put your ego infront of the dawah and sadly it's hard thing to put back so for most it's very hard thing to be disciplined about so hes saying in essence if you really want to be effective in debate be very spiritually disciplined about your ego otherwise you will devolve your debates into me> you type thing which ofc in almost all cases will not be fruitful. Great wisdom from Ali

  • @sultrys2291

I think (based on the translation in my local language) : Maalik = Owner, Malik = King/Ruler. So the verse will go : "Owner of the Judgement Day" and the other one "The King/Ruler of the Judgement Day". It is actually compliment each other : strengthening/supporting one another rather than contradicting.
