Why Dota games sometimes feel impossible

Ойындар

In this video, Jenkins talks about the difference between power spikes and timings, and a big reason why most players feel like a game is 'impossible', despite all things going as normal.

thx for your effort but majority of this sounds irrelevant to me jsut because it assumes you to be able to organise with your team. For example u offer to dodge fight in some sitations but in real pubs you cant convince your team to dodge fights for 2 or 4 mins they will fight no matter what then blame you for not attending. Any tip that includes directing your team with you will be almost compeltely useless in that sense which includes this video. Again thx for your effort preparing this.

@@augustuscaeser5895 it was a joke however it is rare I see one before 15 min usually 16-19. Also if it takes literally 25 minutes that's never on the support it means they are very bad at carry, unless it's an absolute stomp but even then anti can always split push.

Dude, these types of tutorials are literally what the community needs. We spent like 9 years watching play compilations and basic guides that don't break down what really goes on in a match of dota. I always told myself, how can I know so much about a game and still feel like I suck and I can never do anything of value. I think part of it is the practice time and other very important aspect is the knowledge out there about how the game works so thanks

Based from my personal gameplay I use power spike as prediction on how strong some hero will become on a balanced game Like for example when someone picks alche I know that if he gets the essential creepings on mid he will get that radiance at 15 min mark and depending if his supports are good are are stacking, Alche will get his next core item after like 8 mins. Another example is Tinker getting a Boots of Travel around 12 mins. With these knowledge in mind. I need to wreck and sabotage their early laning phase to delay their power spikes. Prompting me to dominate early game and get items fast I mostly dominate early game to mid game with my TA mid, late game, we gon a need teamwork since enemy team probably has farmed enough to counter.

Absolutely agree also on the fact that its really hard to play early timings in pubs as it requires a lot of coordination vs just farming solo until the which is quite a common instinct.

This is something that's been on my mind for a while. It's been winning me games, but the one issue I have with timings as a carry player is that if the enemy team has a superior late game than ours, my team (we are a 5 stack) get so antsy in wanting to finish the game as soon as possible, to the point where they don't want to wait for my item that's 500 gold away. I've won significantly more games than I've lost recently, but it's just difficult to stop them from fighting when you're not ready to fight yet.

There is no point in joining 99% of fights as a flash farming carry with huge spikes. Prime example is Luna, which I main on divine 3-4. Even if my team is feeding like crazy I mostly avoid fights till ~25-30 minutes, cause frankly, it doesn't matter. You can outfarm all of their cores combined if you play properly, so it doesn't really matter even if your team keeps dying. At 25 minutes, if everything goes according to "plan", you should have your manta / fly / bkb, you get rosh and then you end the game, right then and there. Actually, its very beneficial as a flash farming carry if your team forces fights and plays really aggressively, but at the opposite side of the map. Even if they lose every single one of those fights, they take attention away from you and you basically have 50% of the map free for you to farm. Ofc that applies to heroes that CAN actually farm, like Dusa / Luna / AM. Don't do that with fighting carries like Juggernaut, doesn't work

@Lance Rovi Luaña gotta love it when your antimages blinks in 1v5 with battlefury and boots and nothing else at 16 minutes after you just secured him a 13 minute battlefury by zoning both offlaners back to their jungle.

Jenkins, great content! Are you considering to make some scenario analysis with hypothetical 5vs5 and with their power spikes as a 5 man (contributions of each players to team power shown with separate colors) and compare with the enemy team? That would be amazing! That can be extended to real-world pro match analysis, where some teams should have won depending on their team power spikes, but still lost due to their inability to reach those timings, or the enemy team reaching their power spikes way before the normal(forecatsed) timings, Your fan from Mongolia! :))

I've been noticing some of the carry heroes' item timings and everytime I notice they're missing from the lanes, I try to tell the rest of the team to be more aggressive in pushing to maybe force the enemy carries to stop farming jungle and prematurely join the fight and hope that they choke. That or I rotate and bring another person to smoke gank anyone and potentially ward and deward somewhere.

Good video man. I play LoD (Legends of Dota) on RGC (Ranked Gaming Client). This is a mod of Dota 1 where you skill draft and pick 4 regular skills and two ults. The balance is a bit different than dota or dota 2 because of nasty combos but the game play is 90% the same. Your insight is true for us too. You gotta be aware of when your team has an advantage and make your move when you can. If only your entire team understood the advantage you have. All too often they want to finish farming the next item because they're only focused on themselves. If your experienced ally is feeling confident about a fight, it's not a bad idea to listen to them. You might be surprised with the outcome.

geez the game changed since i last played. i honestly nvr expected dusa to become an early game hero in todays meta. I remember the fail of ppl trying to make armlet maelstrom a thing on dusa to make her early game viable and manta being an awful item on her but now manta is all dusa needs.

Omg I never thought someone could explain this so logically!! I hope pub gamers can play better after this video..I see some ppl farm radiance no matter what as a first item even though it is more than 40mins into the game..they don’t consider the face that enemy team match up and items to counter at all..

To avoid fights when you weaker and can not fight, what do you do if your towers are pushed in and you can’t split push because they have a support in lane etc

My last game I picked meepo as a 9th pick, and enemy team picked monkey king as 10th. From minute 3, enemy monkey, pudge and clock was hunting mid through mid/jungle, even diving t3 towers, and my team never bothered to rotate. We managed to lose all lanes anyways and lost the game. What should I do in games like this?

Dora feels impossible when we have 5 carries and half the team still don’t understand carrying 4 neutrals doesn’t work, or even how to switch them out.
