Why does Windows S Mode continue to exist?

Ғылым және технология

Windows S mode used to be a "feature" of a version of Windows 10 known as Windows 10 S. It was intended to be a competitor to Chrome OS, and limits the use of the computer to only signed Microsoft apps from the Store. While it could be argued as a very secure Windows, it also heavily cripples what you can use your computer for. When the project sorta flopped, Microsoft did not want to give up their precious computer crippling S mode, so now it curses almost every new cheap computer shipped with Windows 11 Home. It does not cost extra to get out of S Mode (although I believe Microsoft had originally planned to charge a fee), but you have to use a Microsoft Account to download the Get out of S Mode app from the Store. There are workarounds to get out without the MS Account. Why require the MS account? Why not make it a setting to exit this garbage? Why does it even continue to exist? Why punish low-income PC buyers with this junk?

Basically Microsoft: “according to statistics, 0.01% of people stay in S mode, so let’s just keep forcing it on their devices!” What kind of company does that

I did a little research and I tried for 2 days to get mine out of S Mode. I bought a new one at Walt-Mart, and another at a pawn shop. I got them both out of S Mode. It took some research, but I did it. This is Microsoft trying to bully everyone into using just their apps and software. I needed to take it out of there because it would not let me install any other programs. Now I can.

I've ran into this same issue with customers laptops runing Win11 home edition, and it is frustrating, I'm not a huge fan of Windows 11, the old joke was that every other OS that Microsoft puts out is a good one, maybe Win 12 will be a winner. But who knows.

Every cheap computer with Windows 11 Home in S mode sucks anyways. You get what you pay for!

It's not only installed on cheap budget computers. I had a nice Dell Inspiron 3000 come in last year loaded with s*** mode. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJqrwbyleMTHdZM.html
