As a french citizen I am proud of our history and culture when it comes to knives, but I have to admit that I LOVE spanish cutlery brands : Joker, J&V, Muela, Salamandra, Nieto, etc... They tend to build very good models, durable, no matter if it's about producing folders or fixed blades. Still found of their MoVa58 steel, a kind of 1.4116 with very good HT bringing it to 58HRC, it reminds me of Buck's 420HC quality when compared to other manufacturers. But it's also about the design, the quality of the materials involved, the prices.

Very cool. No experience with Joker Knives, but a good bit of experience with Bohler steels like N690 and K720, and Sandvik 14C28N has become one of my favorites to be honest. I learned to appreciate a good stainless blade many years ago and with the right heat treat and cryo-quench the 14C28N is an impressive blade steel.

They are a phenomenal knife all around. It is hard to find something wrong with them. I currently own the Nomad. Simply awesome and will be adding the Joker Nessmuck soon. I wanted to carry the Nessmuck as I am from the Adirondacks and would find it honorable to carry a knife so similar to the one carried by George Washington Sears. Again, I can attest to the craftsmanship and the durability of these knives. They are kinda stand alone. I am so glad that you opened the door to the Joker company and that I took your advice. I've just bought the Joker Compero for hunting. Haven't yet used it on a deer but I'm keen to see how it handles field butchering compared to my original Coldsteel Master Hunter in carbon V steel which is what I judge all my other knives against. I did eventually put my own edge on it (just a bit thinner), because I'm so used to it, but it's really just fine the way it comes. And, like you said, the sheath is outstanding. Have you tried the Jeo Tec brand? I just bought the Jeo Tec model 39 off Amazon. It seems very comparable to the Joker brand... at least from what I see from your video reviews of the Joker brand. I might add a Joker knife to my tool box thanks to your reviews.

Great review! I've had a Joker Pantera, but it just didn't work for me. However, the fit and finish were flawless. I have the Joker Erizo and will never part with it, I find it to be the perfect companion and EDC knife. I'm buying another Joker knife today, and the Campero is at the top of the list, but I need to finalize my decision between it and the Montanero or Bushcrafter with a full flat grind. I'm sure that it'll be the Campero that gets the nod. Thanks again for the great review.

I just received in the mail my first Joker knife, it literally arrived yesterday. I bought the LUCHADERA with a stag handle and Mo V 1.4116 steel I have no idea if it's a good steel or not but I love the look and feel of the knife and the sheath compliments it nicely it will probably be my new EDC belt knife and I'll see how the steel performs over time.

4116 is a German stainless steel that other brands have used such cold steel, and thats what they use on the pocket bushman which is really tough. As long as you know how to sharpen that steel won't bother you, doesn't hold an edge the longest but its good and tough (assuming it has a proper heat treat, which im sure it does lol)

That steel gets used a lot in high-end kitchen knives. It's more on the toughness end, but for an outdoors knife that's a good thing IMHO.

Ruike knives (pronounced 'Rake') makes a nice fixed blade model called the Jager F118. The blade steel is 14C28N with a 4.3" length. At about $63 on Amazon, it is a very nice knife. The handle may be a bit short for large hands, but the contour of the handle and fit & finish is very good. I have used it and it makes a very good camp knife. Seems competitive to the Joker knife.

Probably the reason I have 20+ of them. And they are all good! I also have some models in Böhler K720 carbon steel but where I go I usually prefer stainless. They also have extremely well made traditional puukkos in 3 lengths. All you have to look for is the BS-9 stamp on the blade (Grupo BS-9 are 9 professional bushcraft and survival instructors) and/or designed by J. Sabater. The Nomad and Ursus have the thicker spine for when you need that.

@@jimlahey5623 BS-9 means Grupo BS-9. 9 Spanish bushcraft and survival instructors who tested and approved the J. Sabater design. It should be on the blade near the handle. I have two Nomads and both have them. Maybe you have a very early design? In fact all my Joker knives have this stamp except the traditional Puukko designs. They are designed by J. Sabater but don't have the BS-9 stamp. Joker does make knives without the stamp, even pocket knives, but the Nomad should have it.

Might have mentioned before I've batoned the Nomad through Aussie redgum fence posts with no deformation of the edge and hardly a scratch. Not something I'll continue to do, unless in case of emergency, but If it can do that for under 100 USD with the bonus of stain....less properties and outstanding ergos, I'm sold !!!!. Cheers Duke.

@@gideonstactical in fairness, it was with the grain, I just had to know how far it could go, the price threw me completely, lol. Think I paid around 140 AUD, roughly 90-100 USD at the time. As it stands on exchange rate, this one would come in around 100 AUD + shipping. Sure very different designs but even your CS SRKs, Strongarms and the like, struggle to compete with Joker bang for buck wise. Btw; prices are sneaking up here, I expect in part due to logistics issues i.e. supply and demand, on top of "normal" inflationary pressures. My point is; if its within ones means, probably pay to grab what you really need/want sooner rather than later.

I'm watching this video while I sit here with my brand new Nomad which I am really enjoying. I purchased the Lynx while I was still waiting for the Nomad to arrive, based on your reviews. I'm patiently waiting for it to ship. It was the last black micarta model on Amazon. Now you post this vid and that burlap micarta Campero is really calling to me. Currently only one available on Amazon. I'm trying to resist the temptation because I think the Lynx and my Cudeman MT5 should cover my needs for a 4 inch blade. You are right about Stainless. I really don't understand the obsession with Carbon steel. I would rather have a good stainless that I don't have to worry about and modern stainless is plenty tough. I'm glad I found Joker because there isn't much comparable out there for stainless field knives, especially in the price range these sell for.

UPDATE: I now own a stag handled Nessmuk and the Campero with Olive Wood handle. The first Nessmuk I received was a little wonky and exchanged it for another with a more symmetrical handle from left to right. The Campero does not have the fit and finish quality of my Lynx (seamless between scales and tang/liners). I wanted to note that my Campero does not have J Sabater on the blade and was wondering if you knew anything about Jokers that are not marked as such when others are. Thanks.

Nice knives, but after carrying outstanding BPS and Rapid-Fire fixed blades for the last 4 years during extensive hiking and camping trips, I found these to be practically indestructible. Whether stainless or D2 steels, they maintain a very sharp cutting edge, resistance to rust and are less expensive. As always, however, thank you for your informative videos!
