How can it be alright to allow into heaven those who have sexually abused others? If so, is that forgiveness from the heavenly father of an errant child or a bribe for doing His work though much harm has ensued? Has he repented, made amends or did he spend a life time on earth covering up? Merely by calling Abba father and preaching the word of heaven but living a double life, can a person go to heaven? What did Jesus ask law teachers to observe, a higher standards than others. What did he call them, hypocrites. What did he compare them to, tombstones externally beautiful, internally full of worms. What did He say awaits them, Hell.

Still listening to Ravi after listening to McArthur on the problem of evil. Ravi is by far clearer more humble man who is not so quick to have the answers for everything, in all his weaknesses I think he still has a message for believer and unbeliever. God continues to have mercy on the human race even though we continue to fall far short of what He has for us, let him who is without sin cast the first stone. As a side note we should not fall into the same trap Job and his friends fell into, I do believe God does want us to know deep things that is why He gives us the mind of Christ, but always in relationship.

I can't believe the claims. I just can't. The fact that they came out only after he had died seems extremely suspicious to me. Like the devil trying to destroy the ministry of a great man of God.

"The Word of God" does not refer to what is written in the scriptures, hence "His name is called the Word of God", in addition to that, Word is often capitalized, as a word referring to a Deity or God. You may want to know what the hell Word actually means, along with a host of other things you undoubtedly misinterpret, when you read the evil book. Let he who believes he knows, what God and Its' Bible are about, cast the first stone.

I’m of the same mind. When the news first broke I distanced myself from watching his stuff and I LOVE his teachings. However after going through a season of having wild accusations thrown at me, I take all “news” with a grain of salt.

What I take issue with, is that we're beginning to understand how the subconscious mind controls our actions - our conscious reasoning and deliberation of why we choose a particular action is merely an attempt to understand and justify the subconscious. In other words, free will does not exist, simply because we are at the disposal of our subconscious mind. If that's the case, why would a just god create a hell, and punish people for eternity for actions by which they had no choice?

Why do God take the people away that I love

Some questions cannot be explained by religious teachings or even logic unless you "just believe" (teachings, Scriptures, dogmas). It seems there are things we don't want to accept that we really don't know, so we resort to believing. You believe what you don't know. We need to know and understand God rather than just believe, and know things as they are rather than trying to find explanations that confirm our beliefs. The problem is not the existence of God because it's not us who created ourselves or the universe. The problem is the way we humans interpret or imagine God, the nature, characteristics and functioning of God versus our life, which causes confusions yielding in different religions, interpretations. The reasons there are believers and atheists, on both sides, they are struggling to find explanations to existential question (better to understand them than blame them). Still the problem comes back: 1) Why does God have to allow problems/sufferings/complications so that he teaches or improves us while He is almighty, omnipresent, and omnipotent? Why does he have to allow our sufferings so that he has glory, he is righteous (he doesn’t need humans’ approval to be God, he is already God). 2) If God has left responsibility to humans to choose between good and evil, so human decision is not the initial cause of evil: evil existed before humans because humans were created to choose (freedom to choose, you choose when there are alternatives). What is really the root (initial) origin of evil, why do we put the initial responsibility to humans who were created and given two paths: good and evil? How can a fruit (physical food) cause sin (spiritual) as per the creation narrative (myth)? If God created everything and controls everything, then we seem to be victims of a theater we didn’t start. If God is in control then to what extent do humans control the change, how shall we take the responsibility? God is timeless and can see in the future he knew Adam and Eve would sin: so did God create the earth as a provisional residence of humans to test humans? How do we know God plans? Does God need to do things provisionally as if he isn’t able to do final things? God asks humans to do good but allows the evil and sufferings: is he testing us? Isn't he sure of our capacity (the Creator is not a factory engineer who has to test a machine before selling it. He is supreme). 3) We are the product of God: why do we have to struggle so much to understand God, to be like God as if there is a huuuge distance between us and God, yet we are taught God is in us, with us? 4) Probably we don't want to accept that there are things we really don't know, which will be known in future. We struggle to convince ourselves and others that we know everything, trying to confirm our beliefs, thinking the current generation’s knowledge and understanding of life is the latest. Yet human knowledge is tiny and miniscule compared to the universe, let alone God. If we can’t understand fully an atom in its entirety, how can we be sure we understand universe, let alone the Creator? 5) Either we interpret God and its characteristics according to our wishes and level of knowledge, or God exists but does not operate as we think or wish. We imagine God as humanlike (give gender to God (why-He), we determine his authority and power, we think we know and teach the history of God, where he lives, his plans, what he likes, that he cares all our wishes….). There are evils caused by us humans, and there are those caused by nature (eg: natural catastrophes)-maybe it’s the nature’s design since the beginning. A Human cannot control everything that happens. Why do we tend to attribute responsibility to demons (Satan?) 6) Responsibility given to humans means that we have to use our decision to choose, our intelligence, thinking, reasoning to understand God (not leaving this to other forces -such as grace, prayers, spirits…like some people believe). 7) All ideas I have written express my longing to know, I really need to understand.

GOD gave mankind free will. We choose to be good or evil. As we disoby HIS laws, we reap the consequences. We cause our suffering. HE gave us paradise. Woman tempted weak man. Self gratification rules. The choice was made then . The sins of the father.

In hindsight, sadly, given what became known about Ravi at the end of his life, his comment that even in the pursuit of pleasure there is pain was prophetic.

I think about this every time I think of Ravi. But in the end, he was fallible like the rest of us. It's unfortunate, but the truth he stated cannot be undone by his actions that were contrary to the teaching he espoused. For example, few things were more fundamentally impactful on my edification of philosophy and Christianity than when he said, "a philosophy cannot be condemned for it's abuse." This means every single time someone points to bad things Christians have done as an attempted refutation of Christianity, I ask a simple question: "Where does God's Word command Christians to do that behavior?" If we were not instructed to act in a bad way, then Christianity, and God vicariously, cannot be condemned for the actions of Christians who are disobeying Him.

I have so many questions, hope you can answer them all, starting with the fact that you told. 1st of all, Why God gives us free will? and 2nd, You said, "Man doesn't listen to God". If God wanted then he could make us listen to him. But why did he not do it?! BTW why did God even created this Universe? to enjoy it? or to get praised by humans which he doesn't need.

God allows SUFFERING on EARTH so that we will be much more INCLINED to take him up on HIS OFFER . . . LIFE in HEAVEN with HIM; or, DEATH in HELL with SATAN. earth is where we prepare for heaven. sickness and sorrow is the result of disobedience. laziness is vanity. man must do GOOD WORKS. we suffer when we do wrong. simple as that. Must be holy to get in HEAVEN. Hell is worse. then the suffering we endure on EARTH. it entails all the pain and sorrow you CAUSED by your behaviour on earth forever and ever.
