    Name Explain Bosnia has five regions. Krajina, Posavina, Upper Bosnia, Podrinje, and Herzegovina. The country was always called just Bosnia, but Ottoman empire and Austro-Hungary changed that and they added Herzegovina to the name of the country. But that doesn't change the fact that Herzegovina is just one of the bosnian regions (southern Bosnia) and one day (and that day will come) we will change the name of our country back to Bosnia. Republic of Bosnia. Cheers!

    Why is Galicia a region in spain and also the name of a region is eastern europe

  • @Vitalis94

    @Vitalis94

    6 жыл бұрын

    It's just the English name that's the same. Well, Germanic, to be exact. Eastern European Galicia is the latinization of the Russian/Ukrainian name Halych. What's the etymology of the word Halych, well.. That's unknown. Some historians tried to connect the name Galicia to the Celts (that's where Spanish Galicia got it's name from, as there were Gauls/Celts in Spain at some point), and point to the word 'hal', meaning salt in Celtic. But honestly, we just don't know...

    In Polish Halicz/Ruś Halicka and Galicja are two different things - the former referring to the state which existed before being conquered by Poland and the latter to the region of the Austrian Empire after the partitions. Their territories are quite significantly different.

    I did go to the trouble of explaining on your "Führer"-video that "Herzog" is a German word which also effectively means "leader" (albeit a military one). Other languages have it from us, not the other way round. So once more: it is a compound of "Heer" (army) and "Zog" (cognate with English "tug") meaning "lead out". Its derivation and development parallel those of the word "Duke".

    serbian word ''herzog'' wtf and why did you skip the fact that Bosnia was a kingdom since 10 up to 14th century and had it's own coins and royal dynasty. Also why did you skip the fact that the country was called Bosnia until Austro Hungarian occupation, it was the Austrians who gave a country two names during the Berlin congress. The AH monarchy pressured under Russia wanted to create two states one called Bosnia and other called Herzegowina. But they backed down after Istanbul convention in 1890 keeping the country united but under two names-

    in 1:27 you claim the german "Herzog" would come from old serbian "herceg", which is bs, "Herzog" is a germanic composit of the word for army (in modern German "Heer") and lead (in this case "(voran)ziehen") (cf. www.dwds.de/wb/Herzog ) the old church slavonic word "herceg" might be an adaptation of the german word but not vice versa

    BiH has a strange way of governing itself; three distinct governments (one for the whole country, and two for its constituent parts [the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Republika Srpska]), three capitals (Banja Luka for Rep. Srpska, Sarajevo for Fed. BiH, and the free city of Brcko). No wonder things are very slow to get done over there, but fortunately the situation is improving somewhat.

    First part of your sentence is "strange". US do not have states? There isn't one govermenz for the US and another for e.g. Texas? And Washington DC is a state or "free city"? So, BiH is a kind of union of two entities: Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska. Brčko District is autonomous as it is not part of the two entities, it is a self-governing "condominium". Capitals are: Sarajevo (BiH and Federation of BiH) and Banja Luka (Republika Srpska). What is interesting is that Republika Srpska is unitary entity, while Federation of BiH (as its name says) is a federation: it is composed of 10 semi-autonomous cantons.

  • @Gameflyer001

    @Gameflyer001

    6 жыл бұрын

    There is a difference between the US and BiH, in that in the former, the federal government has clear influence over the individual states, and they aren't exactly autonomous as they have to comply with federal laws to govern themselves. In the latter case, the two autonomous entities are more or less equal with that of the federal government, making agreements between the triumvirate harder to come by.

    Bosnia has five regions. Cheers!

    Great video! How ever I would like to mention that Herceg is an old Bosnian word and not serbian as the Serbian language was based on the Bosnian one. Anyway, the video is cool 👐

    This is a wide deception of Muslim people from Bosnia, believing that there is a separate language called Bosnian just because there was a Bosnian dictionary made up in 17th century but people don't know that "bosnian" language used in the dictionary does not have any similarities with the language spoken today, because it was old slavonic language and written in arabic letters which is really wierd.

    What Ever Let me first say that I'm not muslim, but I do accept the facts that the Bosnian language existed a couple of hundared years before the Serbian language did. So pls, let's not have some discussions because we can't change the reality and facts. If you want to speak Bosnian and say it's Serbian, well that's fine by me. I won't force anyone, but the facts has to be mentioned and accepted. 😊

    tgghgf hfghgf I don't know. Maybe it is. Probably there is no 100% correct answer when it comes to this topic. The only thing I wanted to mention is that it's impossible to claim that somethings comes from serbian when serbian language in fact was based on the Bosnian one.

    the word Herzog derives from Hungarian and it means prince, therefore it was the land of the prince Stefan Kosaca. About the language I dont want to go to dispute, you believe there is a different bosnian language I lay claim that it is the same language as Serbian, agree to disagree end of the story I wont make you think otherwise you wont make me.

    Herzegovina name is product of the Ottomans occupation of Bosnia and later Austro-Hungarian Empire leave that in name of the country for theirs occupation reasons. Actualy teritory which someone call today "Herzegovina" is also part of the Bosnia. No, "Ivan Planina" is not border between Bosnia on one side and Herzegovina on another side. From boith sides is Bosnia, Herzegovina is part of the Bosnia.
