    Hijab In Different Religions If you are a follower of a religion you should follow its principles. Why woman has to cover the head? Lets look. I wonder why muslims only cover their head when other religious scriptures say its compulsory 1. HINDUISM God made you women, so that you shall lower your gaze, do not look at men, keep your feet close, cover your head and do not disclose the garment, which should be concealed with the veil (Rig Veda Book 8 Hymn 33 Mantra 19-20) “Unlovely is the person is the husband who covers his thighs with the garment of his wife. “ So the Rig Veda says that wearing the clothes of the opposite sex is prohibited. (Rig Veda Book no. 10 Hymn no. 85 V. no) When Purshuram comes, Rama tells his wife Sita that “He is our elder, please lower your gaze, and put on the veil. (Mahavir Charitra Act 2 Page 71) 2. CHRISTIANITY But if a woman has long hair, is that her glory? Her hair is given to her for a cover. (Corinthians 11:15) If a woman does not cover her head, let her cut her hair. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to cut her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head. (Corinthians 11: 6) And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. (Timothy 2:9) The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God (Deuteronomy 22:5) So the Bible says that wearing the clothes of the opposite sex is prohibited. Y ou have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:27-28) The hijab is still worn by nuns and Amish women who are traditional christians. In bible and vedas its shown as an authority of man and in in islam its not. (Its upon her own choice.) In different part of the world no woman is safe after dark. During the day time women had been attacked in the streets. Look at the Nuns. Nobody gives them a second look But what about a woman in bikini or more exposed dress. This is the nature of man, god made us like that. The only thing that allures man more than anything on earthly existence is woman. do you know that? Look at some Motor vehicle advertisements, They shows woman on bikini on their advertisements. What has the woman on the bikini has got to do with this? Smart marketers Knows this and they tap on this emotion of man. As I said before, there are hormonal differences between males and females. Women and men respond differently. How many men are victims of sexual harassment? Women? Look at the ratio of the two. How many men are abused? Men have less control than women (for women it is a power ). In fact, the man first evaluates the woman by looking at her body. A man's hijab is his eye. Holy Quran says to men “Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (avoiding its concentration on a person’s body, or a certain part of it) and to be mindful of their chastity; in this they will be more considerate for their own well-being and purity, and surely God is fully aware of all that they do”

    @Norse Mythology Its only natural that the father has to be included. When you send your children to school the first time you also want to meet the teachers and the school system befor your child starts there. Its the same concept. The father being a man himself can see the intentions of his daughters boyfriend much better, becuase he rather thinks rationally than emotionally. Its not a sign of the girl being a chattel, its more like that she has authorities who need to be included before she engages in a hopefully everlasting relationship. People tend to forget, having a boyfriend or a wife isnt something that should start today and end tomorrow, a relationship has a big future, and thus the 2 individuals priorities have to be set from the get go and thats what parents especially fathers do best and thats prioritizing.

    Hijab saved my life. Before wearing the hijab I had eating-disorder (started when I was 7 years old) and later used 2 hours a day just preparing my makeup, clothes and hair. I was constantly thinking about my looks and was constantly depressed because of this. I was looking at other girls and constantly compared myself with them. I was so depressed and tired of the constant struggle to look Nice. I just wanted to end my life because I was so tired of myself. Everything changed when I started covering myself with the hijab, now 10 years anniversary 🎉 if women only knew how much freedom hijab gives us, they would switch to it, especially the pshycological freedom. The constant burden of looking nice: makeup, hair, hairline, bigger lips, bigger thights and butt, smaller stomach, hour-glass figure, perfume, smaller cheeks, foxy eyes, thick eyebrow, poreless face, bronze skin, tight clothes, no double-cheek etc... OMG, do you call this freedom??? This is hell on earth! Freedom is wearing my hijab and walking outside my house and not caring about my looks or how other percieve it. My face and body is from my Lord, He decide me to look like this and I am thankful. My hijab is my freedom, my life-saver.

    As a woman in Hijab, I feel my life is easier, if I've to go out I just wear my abaya and cover my face and just go... I don't have to spend hours in choosing dress, doing makeup... and all that time wasting stuff to please people whose happiness doesn't matter for me at all... why I'd want to let people stare at me and feel awkward... I only want to look attractive to one man and that's my husband... if he's happy I am happy. beauty is something which is not in anyone's power, people are born beautiful or not beautiful, if one is not beautiful its not what should hurt other people and that person have to hide or beautify oneself... its Allah's creation... and he choses best. others should not feel necessary to bully or look with contempt on such people who they themselves think are not beautiful.

    When I started wearing the hijab, I became more comfortable in public and my self-esteem increased which I thought was rooted in my appearance increased! Ideas about plastic surgery, Botox, make-up, dressing update attractively all escaped my mind. I stopped comparing my appearance to others, which was a huge relief.

    So it makes you lazy?? You don’t bother looking after yourself is the take away here. Most Women dress for themselves.. we have families to look after and businesses to run/work to do. We aren’t out attracting men!! We dress for function. Most days I wear jeans and a t/shirt as it’s functional.. yet I still take care of my appearance for me/my family. I don’t need to hide myself away. That’s ridiculous

    @@shams8256 Hijab is imposed on both men and women in a different way, since both men and women are different -even physically -, so the attractios of women for example aren't as the attractios of men. So, both of them have to cover specific areas that Allah told us about. According to that person, may Allah guides him and his girlfriend, and guides everyone and us, Ameen.     I was so obsessed with my appearance and didn't feel comfortable in public, I always had this sense of inferiority because of it. When I started wearing the hijab permanently as a teenager, all those concerns and feelings of inferiority washed away. Let me be clear, I always wore modest and loose attire and never wore makeup. My self-esteem increased quite a lot and I was able to be comfortable in public. As a result my public speaking skills and confidence improved. Alhumdulillah, getting closer to my religion has made my depression manageable, improved the quality of my life and has instilled this unexplainable peace in my heart that I never thought I could have.

    The problem was not with you wearing a hijab ? You have self confidence issues . That’s a mental thing . A hijab didn’t change nothing . It just suppresses your self confidence issue . Same way depressed people take drugs to ease their pain . Becoming mentally stronger is the real key that would help you so you would care les what people think of you . A Hijab is just an illusion of confidence

    Basically, people dress to impress. Your dress tells people about how you want people to address you. For example, men wears suits to imply that they are on a higher level and to impress the women to be their partner. Women also wears beautiful and sometimes revealing clothes to attract the men to be their partner, also they wears makeup to cover up any visible flaws on the face as men are visual. The only people that doesn't dress to impress are bums or someone that doesn't conform to other people's opinion. Because they have no intention of getting someone's attention to them and they don't care. But as Muslims, we dress accordingly based on the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. Modest is the key word. Our dress are not to shiny and not to 'ugly'. We don't want to attract any unwanted attention while still look decent. That's what the Muslims have been preached all this while.

    @Solo Ann when was the last time you put your best dress when you're at home? Just being at home and never expecting anyone? I can tell you most people in this very world don't do that. Why? Because we are comfortable being ourselves in our own home. The dress is just a persona that we all use to project our image towards other people and how we want people to perceive us. We dress decent bcos we WANT people to acknowledge that. But if you dress in a way people might be thinking in a negative way, a part from it comes from you, and the rest are from the people that think like that.

    @@SoloAnn I think fashion is a totally separate thing. My boyfriend is a lawyer and wearing suits and looking formal conveys respect for others. We also both enjoy fashion and mixing styles and colors. It is not about being sexually attractive to others, it’s having fun.

    Hijab In Different Religions If you are a follower of a religion you should follow its principles. Why woman has to cover the head? Lets look. I wonder why muslims only cover their head when other religious scriptures say its compulsory 1. HINDUISM God made you women, so that you shall lower your gaze, do not look at men, keep your feet close, cover your head and do not disclose the garment, which should be concealed with the veil (Rig Veda Book 8 Hymn 33 Mantra 19-20) “Unlovely is the person is the husband who covers his thighs with the garment of his wife. “ So the Rig Veda says that wearing the clothes of the opposite sex is prohibited. (Rig Veda Book no. 10 Hymn no. 85 V. no) When Purshuram comes, Rama tells his wife Sita that “He is our elder, please lower your gaze, and put on the veil. (Mahavir Charitra Act 2 Page 71) 2. CHRISTIANITY But if a woman has long hair, is that her glory? Her hair is given to her for a cover. (Corinthians 11:15) If a woman does not cover her head, let her cut her hair. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to cut her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head. (Corinthians 11: 6) And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. (Timothy 2:9) The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God (Deuteronomy 22:5) So the Bible says that wearing the clothes of the opposite sex is prohibited. Y ou have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:27-28) The hijab is still worn by nuns and Amish women who are traditional christians. In bible and vedas its shown as an authority of man and in in islam its not. (Its upon her own choice.) In different part of the world no woman is safe after dark. During the day time women had been attacked in the streets. Look at the Nuns. Nobody gives them a second look But what about a woman in bikini or more exposed dress. This is the nature of man, god made us like that. The only thing that allures man more than anything on earthly existence is woman. do you know that? Look at some Motor vehicle advertisements, They shows woman on bikini on their advertisements. What has the woman on the bikini has got to do with this? Smart marketers Knows this and they tap on this emotion of man. As I said before, there are hormonal differences between males and females. Women and men respond differently. How many men are victims of sexual harassment? Women? Look at the ratio of the two. How many men are abused? Men have less control than women (for women it is a power ). In fact, the man first evaluates the woman by looking at her body. A man's hijab is his eye. Holy Quran says to men “Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (avoiding its concentration on a person’s body, or a certain part of it) and to be mindful of their chastity; in this they will be more considerate for their own well-being and purity, and surely God is fully aware of all that they do”

    I encourage you (positively) to start cutting off people if they at some point keep dropping question after question, not letting the former question being answered properly. It happens so often, and when it does, we quickly realize that there is a strong prejudice/bias. And that they are firing their questions only to dismantle or to judge. Please tell them kindly to let you go topic by topic. They are totally free to ask as much as they want, but please one thing after another. It would make for a way nicer conversation.

    Why a woman finds it necessary to wear make up outside? - Socital pressure Solution is Hijab. Then why are u finding it necessary to dress up nicely in suit outside?- Isn't that societal pressure, why is the solution for you is not Hijab? If the problem is societal pressure, then can't we move towards changing our thoughts instead of changing the clothing? Beauty industry is blooming as u are asked to look a certain way to be considered beautiful. Correct. Then shouldn't we change the standards of beauty. If the problem is wearing make up which is not good for health due to societal pressure, then normalizing the looks without the makeup should be more of a solution.

    Not all have problems with it but Switzerland has banned and would even go as far as banning hijab. The swiss society is very islamophobic. The sad reality of swiss people is being hidden everywhere. Trust me I am a Swiss Muslim. They gave all rights to Jewish and Christian folks and pay their schools, are granted scholarships whereas almost half of Muslims are preserved in an asylum or are more likely to be dependent on a minimalistic welfare system. Muslims are unwelcomed.

    I had worn the hijab and was also a non-hijabi. I'd say the hijab was the best thing ever, it helped me be true to myself and love myself more. It made me care less of how I look. It also taught me that women are not there to be only beautiful but also many qualities. Sad that this guy was so ignorant and couldn't listen to what you had to say.

    Honestly the way you dress gives a sign of what your personality and how you want people to perceive/ treat you if dress in vulgar way you attract the wrong kind of men cheater not the husband material won't treat you nicely either and as soon he finds a prettier girl he will follow......on the other hand if you dress modestly most likely you will attract the right kind of people who will respect you and appreciate you ....I was a hijaby since I was 9 and my style changed through out the years alhamdulillah lately I started wearing abya or modest dresses now men treat me with more respect and see me as an individual rather than harassing me or treating me like prey and if they approach me is not to ask for my number but my parents number 😁 (to summarize it the way you dress either invites a thief that breaks in through the window or the owner of the house that gets from the front door with his keys)

    In the USA, I often saw young Muslim women at the mall. They were wearing the hijab but at the same time they wore tight blue jeans, and tons of makeup. This situation seemed completely ridiculous to me. Their jeans and makeup were trying to attract and seduce men but they had the idea that they were being modest by wearing a hijab!!

    I’m a Muslim woman and you are DEAD wrong…society doesn’t pressure or force me to do anything, I am a stay at home mom and every day I dress up in clothes that make me look a sexy and beautiful, wear makeup , do my hair and spend money on my skin, fitness and beauty treatments…..and guess what? NOBODY sees me except my kids all day day!…I do it for ME …I enjoy being beautiful and I feel proud of how well I keep myself together for my age….women are not slaves to men…women will usually dress up MORE in front of other women because we care about their judgment more since they know our beauty standards…men are simple, breasts, butt and little waist….that’s it..it’s not hard to impress a man….

    1) The makeup argument can make sense against the makeup industry, but it's not an argument for hijab. A solution for that could just be : don't use makeup and that's it. 2) Whatever woman use makeup, or that they are covering themselves, they are objectified in both cases. You wouldn't need to try to cover something if it wasn't objectified in the first place. I mean, think about it. In which case something is the most objectified between: - Just let it be. - Cover it. 3) Yes, men and women generally like to look "attractive". They both have some "beauty" standart. I would say that the core of this debate actually is : is this wrong ? 4) I would tempt to think there is a difference between looking for being attractive, and be objectified. Meaning someone being attractive doesn't necessarly means he's objectified.

    That's exactly what I found problematic in this video. This man & statistically many men consider women 9 year olds who do not have an authority or mind to make their own choices. Hence the whole debate. But my perspective is, why not just let them be, why is there a need to "protect" women from vulture industries. This constant need to decide/impose what's right for women is everything that's wrong with every religion.
