Why Do You Need A Latch Guard?

Latch Guards are designed to protect and guard many types of doors from people attempting to bend the latch back to gain access when they aren't allowed to. In this video from Guardian Safe & Lock, Uriah Ortiz discusses how important having a latch guard can be, and different types of latch guard you can purchase from a locksmith.

I just want something that is not a permanent installation that I can put on and take off when not needed and so I don't damage the door with it.

Thanks for the info, might put one up for my friend. Get this, I just rekeyed my friend's new warehouse and the first random set of keys I grabbed from the tool box and rekeyed to, just so happened to be the same key I keyed up to his old warehouse LOL At first he didn't mind but the fact that if one of his old employees found out then they essentially can get in with the old keys so I had to redo 8 cylinders all over again.

Good to see another variant of product that we don't see down here in OZ. The applications here are similar just a different manufacturer. BDS is a popular application utilised here. The amount of commercial properties that lack that extra layer of protection is wide spread. Like you say, a reasonable priced outlay for a little extra peace of mind. Have a good one:-).

Thank you for the insightful reply! It's really something everyone should have on a business, especially a commercial glass door. The aluminum just doesn't resist prying enough to go without one. Here's hoping that a little awareness helps increase installs everywhere.

Hi, thanks your video on latch guards and aluminum storefront doors. Do you have a recommendation for an aluminum storefront door that uses a deadbolt or a hook bolt? The one my customer wants to protect is not flush with the outer surface and is recessed about an inch. Let me know if you figured out a solution for protecting those latches and not the spring latches. The door I’m talking about use it in Adams Rite lock.

Are burglars destroying the latch itself and that's why it needs to be protected? Because if it's just because they're prying the door open couldn't they just try prying above or below the latch guard?

They are either directly pushing the latch back or creating a large gap and just pushing the door in . What's not mentioned, Is full length latch guard. Offering, bring more protection.

Sure is, but believe it or not it’s not that common. Prying them open is very common, but breaking the glass is much rarer.

@@GuardianSafeAndLock Thinking about it, as a glass man, you are correct. most broken glass is either from vandals or the wind catchign the door. BTW love the content. Just found the page
