good question. I’m a teacher and original was going to do the PLSF program to forgive my student loans. But after watching Ramsey and seeing how the program isn’t that successful and not wanting to wait another 5 years I decided to take things into my own hands. I had most of the money in savings and already work two jobs but the feeling of paying it off myself and not having that debt weigh over me seemed very empowering. Working a real budget also made me realize I was wasting so much money.

@@droid2D2C3P0nothing wrong with a stay at home mom. They do not save their partner a shit of money. That’s just not true. For the overwhelming majority of people, having the wife work keeps the household above water. A stay at home wife is also an excuse to have more kids, so costs also go up having her at home. Unless you find a ton of value of a stay at home mom for just one child, it doesn’t really balance itself out until after 2 children. I pay $900 a month for day care and I make over $10K a month. My wife makes about $3K a month. So we would need 3 more children for the benefit of her staying home be outweighed by the lost of income. My wife is on a trajectory to turn that to $6K. So it wouldn’t save us any money. You can attach a bunch of emotions and physiological value to being a stay at home mom however, the actual dollar value doesn’t make sense until a certain amount of kids. That certain amount is different for everyone, but can be detrrimined by the out of pocket cost for care minus the loss of net income.

The money is funny, and the business isn't profitable. $520K loan on an unprofitable business that he HOPES to break even with in 3 months. I don't believe he'll break even and I don't believe he'll sell it. It's a bad gamble and he'll hold for a "winning hand".

This is why I don't start my own business. I'd probably make the same blunders as this poor guy. And "health fitness franchise?" To me, that's code for Bally's, Planet Fitness, etc. There are thousands of those worldwide competing with KZread videos, weights, and other equipment you can buy on Amazon or Wal-Mart. My smart TV is constantly bombarding me with the Peloton ads. I think I would've chosen a different product or service to offer.

Mo, can't you just go do a real job? If your wife loves you when you're making 60k you don't have to prove anything to anyone else. Combined you make 500k. Tell the haters (in your head) to suck it.
