    he actually is the U53 sub j deadlift world record holder, he did 235kg in comp but he did 260kg later after comp in training under comp standards too (no straps and comp bar)

    @@frespects9624 it’s not about sumo, it’s just that the guy in the vid was built to pull it. there are lifters like Sanchez Dillon who have insane conventional leverages and would be unable to pull nearly the same weight sumo

    I feel like the same people who hate on bench arches hate on sumo deadlifts, maybe except some niche power lifters. But sumo leaves too much flexibility to do extreme lifts like this and lift a lot of weight because of mechanics and not actual POWER, it's POWER lifting, not leverage lifting...

    Matt, what do we do in your program if we fail a set or know we will fail the next sets? Reduce weight to hit reps or keep weight and hit less reps?

    @@eddieberlingeri4257 that will never happen in a million years in reality, everybody has diff arm length no matter what stance u used, many lifters have their arms till their knee when Lockout both conv and sumo, in fact deadlift is prob the only lift that won't be having any change in rule for at least a very long time or prob never imo, banning either stance will significantly impact the powerlifting scene and comp that unless we see something over 95% of lifters switching to a favor stance or lift leverages then it can be deemed to have an extreme favor hence banning that style of lifting, uk Mr deadlift guy, he is literally built to deadlift with insanely long arms and legs and super short torso, lifted 300kg at 60kg, he has the extreme outlier build

    neutral is fine. to keep it fully back was never a necessary part of the movement. just make sure its still not slouched forward when you lockout your hips

    That's crazy only moving the bar what a foot. It's great to figure out how to do the most weight and win championships. Don't you want to actually be really strong as power lifter like your just stronger than most people at everything and look impressive also... but we all have different goals and ideas

    That's why I sumo with a wider grip. Everyone says it looks odd, but since my shoulders are rounded at the bottom, the wider grip is the only way I can get fully upright at the top.

    @@eddieberlingeri4257 unfortunately nobody cares what random set of rule u believe to be counted in lifting if its not ideal or realistic, tons of lifters will have their arms passed down to their quads when lockout in deadlift and for those whose arm hang on their thigh or just below their hips is deemed to have a very poor leverage for deadlift, nevertheless this lift is not meant to be counted anyways in comp, as he uses straps, and deadlifting with straps in training has its own benefit at times

    @@eddieberlingeri4257 the video is literally not a comp pull, it is done with straps and it has its own benefit in training, nevertheless it's not abt the stance that determine whether you can get it pass ur knees, it's ur arm length, there are tons of conv lifters don't even Lockout till their quads because of their long arms hence I said your rule won't make sense at all

    May as well just do rack pulls with that range of motion. Not trying to downplay his technique but I've seen even women have far greater motion with similar weight comparison. Is there even any point other than flexing your ego? I don't have a problem with Sumo because I incorporate it every so often myself but not with this ridiculous range of motion.
