    I didn't want to make this video but I am seeing too much of these investment "romance" scams. If you want to give a stranger money then just do it as charity but don't give money to strangers for investments, check if the company is registered in Nigeria, do your own research on any investment opportunities!!

    Nigerian scam? You mean there's also American scam? British 🇬🇧 scam? Indian 🇮🇳 scam? Or even Mexican scam? Why not simply say scam? You're unwittingly promoting the Western narrative about Nigeria. Self-immolation is not a virtue.

    Dear Ivevoma, so good of you to address the topic of Individual Fraud Victims & hhank you for sharing tips to invest safely. There is so much more within the big picture. These guys scatter Opportunities for legitimate Nigerian businesses; diverse potential investors & people who commit themselves to promoting Investment Opportunities with businesses. Your reply was not harsh, getting scammed is the rude awakening. They may take advantage of ladies being unfamiliar with how things are done in a foreign country; openess to meet men of a different cultures; preference to connect with Nigerian/African Men; or desparate for love. So often it's not their sweet mouth or smartness as much as it is the adamant & persistent belief that everyone else is stupid. So many challenges have increased in affect to Citizens of the globe over the past 2 years. Being incessantly bombarded with scam attempts is a longtime nuisance, but they have become more aggressive at broadly targeting the Naija communities in that prevention has taken crisis intervention.

    Benny said she had planned to move to Nigeria & the investment may have been her attempt to build financial security on ground. You may be surprised at how many Diasporan's ardent desire to repatriate to Nigeria/other African countries, but are deterred by insecurity perils, scams, or being excluded.

  • @IveomaMedia

    @IveomaMedia

    She isn’t Nigerian so I think through her romantic relationship she developed the interest in moving to Nigeria. This happens a lot. If it was a real attempt to move to the country, the money would have been paid into her personal account. One of the real reason I create content for Nigerians in the diaspora is because I don’t think they are deterred by anything. Even in the midst of insecurity Nigerians will always visit their home. The ones that want to invest in Nigeria will do it. Some of the largest negative talkers about Nigeria will be quietly building their retirement house in the country too. It’s quite interesting.

    Great Video Share. One pushback on your advice. Even with so-called "Friends", i still think that is not a solid foundation to do any business, because i am speaking from experience. The one suggestion i got from a friend was that if you want to invest or do any business, to use a bank proxy because whoever the agent at the bank you use, has to vet the business or individual and thus put their reputation and working credentials on the line. I have had business with a couple of folks (to include family) that literally DOA. Kudos on the content topic and exposure for future potential investors.

    Great tip!! But If you are investing in a startup that won’t work. But it’s definitely sound advice for an established business that has been around for years with a track record. I was advising that anyone who is interested in Nigeria should start to learn about the country via their friends they have met in the States or wherever they are based. It’s better than starting from no where. But you are right it’s not a guarantee of success. Your friends can still disappoint you.

    No!!! With regards to the Naija romance scam, these foreign women are too lonely and desperate for love and attention. Someone has to say it. I have a coworker in her late 50s white lady ( a nurse) who told me last year that she met a Najia guy online. She told me she knew he was trying to scam her for money but she still went to visit him in Nigeria. She went to his village etc. She has been to Naija multiple times now. Just spoke with her last week and she told me she just came back from another Nigerian trip. And guess what? She got married there!!!! Why??? She willing got married to her " scammer"!!!! That is insanity. She told me she is treated like royalty when she goes to Nigeria. Now she is asking me the best way to send money back to Nigeria. She had been send money via Crypto ! she is now filing papers for him and his children. So most of these ladies are aware that they are being used, but they allow it because that is the only attention they are getting. It is sad!
