Yes, and planet fitness loves people like that. Because they will sign up for a membership and then never come in. This allows them to use smaller cheaper locations and book waay over capacity. That's their entire business model. They don't want people who have any amount of passion towards fitness. Everyone mocked their TV ads and lunk alarms and free pizza, but that was their entire business model. To attract the average person who'll never actually workout.

@@aternaljoy7649 I recall reading that all gym business models rely on the majority of their members not attending or attending very infrequently. It's true of PF, but Gold's and all the rest as well. The problem is not the gyms or any particular gym. The problem is most people take their health for granted, are preoccupied with other things in their life, and are probably self conscious and embarrassed to go to the gym regularly. PF lowers some barriers but ultimately it up to each individual to realize the value of regular exercise and make it part of their lifestyle.

Because to exercise and lift at a competitive level or even an impressive level you are going to need to grunt, yell, or have heavy free-weights available. Planet Fitness has intentionally made themselves a brand that essentially states: If you are trying to get really strong, don't come here. For a casual experience they are amazing. If you have a low income, they are fantastic. But if you are a dedicated lifter, they are bad.

The quality of the experience can really depend on the location and the time you go, the ratio of machines is not always great, but if you go at a time that is very quiet, you don't have to worry to much about that(and the app has a built in crowd meter to tell you how busy your home gym is). Planet fitness has been great for me! They are literally EVERYWHERE so it's been really convenient. As a trucker who wants to stay fit and hygienic the parking lots are usually big enough for me to park, go in and get a good workout and shower and if going during a slow time and can usually stay in their parking lots for my 10 hr break. Plus the black card allows me to go to ANY PF in the world for $24. I prefer them over noisy, dirty truck stops where you have to pay $12-$17 per shower. Not all are 24hrs tho and they close early on weekends which is a slight inconvenience but still worth it! I ♥️ them!

planet fit isnt for the people who go to the gym 5 days a week and hit a new pr every single workout, its for people who are new to the experience, are anxious to be around people who grunt and scream with every rep and/or dont have or feel the need to spend $30,40,50 a month on a gym membership. i started at planet fitness after i broke my leg playing soccer and couldnt compete any more. i probably spend less than 10 hours in any gym but im glad i started there! i was able to express myself, learn how to workout and get comfortable with the movement and able to move up a decent amount of weight with all exercises. they have pretty much everything you need and if youre smart and with a little gym ingenuity, you can come up with a good amount of work outs to push yourself to the max. is planet fitness for everyone? no. but its its a good stepping stone for anyone who is looking to start their fitness journey! they dont deserve all the hate they get, i stand by pf ✊🏽

Glad you so strongly “stand by” a corporate gym that causes all other private gyms in the area of operation to go out of business. Soft people like the ones in these comments are why our nation is declining so rapidly. We used to have a nation of strong willed, motivated individuals. Now we have “Don’t judge me!”. I never thought I’d grow up to out perform the majority of society both cognitively and physically, but honestly the bar is so low that it has been easy to surpass the common man on every level.

It’s actually a person setting it off lol. But, really, it’s to make normies that don’t work out not feel scared. I live in a place that isn’t safe, and as such there is a huge population of “lunk heads”, using steroids. Gyms are very intimidating because of this, and many thicc people think working out it just weights. They also offer free classes! This place is for gentler souls that want to be better, not for those who know exactly what they are doing.

I can't speak for anybody else but the reason I hate the place is due to the 'judgement-free zone' slogan being a flat-out lie...I went with my sister as her guest one day. I walked in ready to workout and after a little while I noticed a few of the staff members kinda low-key watching me. Then one of them walked up to me to let me know that the Do-rag and sleeveless shirt I was wearing was against their company rules! Really?!...I've went to MANY fitness places over the years and ironically the ONLY one to ever make me feel judged is the one that claims to be a judege free zone, Planet Fitness.

The only problem I've had there is I was stabbed in the locker room this past summer by a homeless guy who had a black card membership and was going there only to use the showers. He stabbed me with a box cutter but didn't go deep so if he was trying to kill me he did a poor job at it. Otherwise the gym is a gym. It's got weights. You lift them. Unless you're Anatoly looking to clean, you're going to find plenty to test you there.
