WHY did this F1 track get ABANDONED?... and WHO lives there now?
Exploring an abandoned formula 1 F1 track that is inhabited by people who are putting up their own homeless shelters. I was exploring this abandoned track in Valencia, Spain and I give background knowledge and history about the abandonment of the track. The track used to host the European Grand prix until it was shut down early due to corruption and lack of funds. Half of the track has been repurposed, but half remains behind gates where there are new inhabitants of the old F1 track. It is wild to see people living in the old track, but am happy their is a place for people to stay and they do not seem threatening at all. This weekend if Mexico GP

Thanks my man! I appreciate you
Excellent! My husband and I are big F1 fans, as well. Well, tbh, my husband is more of a fan than I am these days. I started watching when Eddie Cheever was racing. I loved to watch the Professor (Alain Prost) and Mika Hakkinen (who I called "mumbles" for obvious reasons). Racing is exciting but there is a lot of corruption a fair bit of skulduggery. Keep them coming.

I knew you were cool!!! Wow I am actually so excited to know that you and your husband are F1 fans. Are you exited for the Mexico GP? Hahaha I love your nickname for Hakkinen, it is so fitting. The sport has changed quite a bit since then I suppose, do you still enjoy watching the races? There are so many mistakes being made by the FIA that sometimes it can be a challenge to support

@@comfortablylost6459, it has changed a lot and I'm happy about many of the safety changes but I feel like the competition has gotten a bit predictable. I can hear the cars in the background as my husband is watching the Mexican GP. Do you have a favorite track? We're partial to Spa. Being in Asturias, we were also big Fernando Alonso fans. (Hamilton is in the lead right now so I'll get back to watching.) You are a pretty cool dude, yourself.

@@j.n.sloane You are right about the safety standards, I am happy to see the drivers walk away from huge crashes. Spa is a great track! Honestly, I love anything that isn’t a street circuit. I feel like the race tracks just have so much more opportunity for exciting driving than the street circuits. Alonso has been really fun to watch lately as Alpine seems to be getting their car sorted out. Hopefully we see a bit more shift in the top 3 next year. As you said, it seems to be the same drivers taking podium every race
Wild to see it change so fast

Thank you for commenting! I am always a fan of exploring it as well
The fact that there is a homeless shelter there now is the perfect metaphor for what happened to this circuit.

Right! Such a contrast to the pristine track just 10 years ago. Rumor has it the property has been bought by an investment company that will eventually repurpose the land

I get that Valencia was supposed to be a street track, but why is it so abandoned?

Honestly I’m not sure how they let it get to this point. I figure they could’ve at least hosted various other events throughout the year instead of F1. I’m pretty sure though that the lack of money became an issue, and when they don’t have money to upkeep a track it eventually falls to pieces
