    Over the years of watching the Wizard's videos, I've noticed his magical skills progressively develop to even higher levels - he used to tug on a wheel quite hard to ascertain the states of bearings & bushes... But in more recent videos he merely seems to just touch a wheel before being able to judge the quality of components. Truly a magician of the highest calibre!!!

    I personally love the 2006-2010 dodge chargers , I’ve had 2 of them and I miss my last one. The intake manifold and the air intake is the same as the r/t, the difference between them are the tuning in the computer and the suspension. They’re great cars if they’re taken care of, but it is getting hard to find nice ones out there anymore.

    I bought a 2014 Hemi Charger off Ebay last month. Had a bent pushrod and the valve cover was off. Dodge dealer diagnosed it as a bad engine and quoted the seller $10k for a long block. Bought it for $2500 with 120k. Pulled the heads off it, and found 2 bad lifters. Put New cam/lifters, 1 pushrod and an AFM solenoid in it. Car is back and running like a champ. I went through it and replaced everything that needed to be replaced. Have $4k into it total including purchase price. Fun car to drive.🤩

    These Daytonas are awesome cars. A few mods like a different cam shaft and exhaust can really bring out even more performance. Fun fact, if you ever get a check engine light and codes come up, do the "key dance" and the codes will come up on the EVIC where the mileage normally appears; to do it switch it to on, acc, on, acc, on; it needs to be done fairly quickly though. There's other goodies in the EVIC if you hold the inner two down buttons (music note and the navigation one) on the steering wheel for five seconds; there's a digital speedometer, oil pressure, digital tachometer, and more! I'm surprised to see one of these without the REC navigation headunit, especially since I've grew up seeing them with it all the time. Something else to mention is that the DC jack in the center console is always powered, so you may want to relocate phone chargers and such to the DC jack in the pop-out ashtray (that one is switched). Another fun fact, the cubby next to the shifter is a "phone holder"

    Good pick. Remember that back in the 70's, Chargers, Cudas, Challengers (as well as any midsize GM with a big V 8 were just used cars that high school kids bought and tore up. Now they are worth BIG money just because there aren't many good ones left. This one will be like that. Do the cosmetics while parts can still be had. The door dent can be fixed via paintless dent repair. The plastic fascia breaks can be repaired. Clean it all up top to bottom. It won't be worth a huge amount, at least not for a few more years, but it IS worth keeping.

    I've got a 2009 RT and It's in pretty good shape, it had been taken cared of very well since it left the dealership, I'm the second owner and I may be selling it for 7000 or even 8000 in here in Mexico because it's in good shape. Right now It's being worked on, but unfortunately some spare parts are kind of hard to find here, and bringing them from the US can prove to be a bit costly sometimes, that is usually the last resource. However, I don't mind paying for the repairments, which doesn't mean I can try to lower the costs by any means necessary, because overall, it is still cheaper to maintain when you realize the longevity and fun that it brings to the table. You may pay, for example, 1000 or 2000 on repairs in case many things need fixing, or just preventive maintenance, but the car will ride smoothly for almost a decade. Having owned it for 5 years, I did nothing but the regular service and drove it in Mexico City, a quite harsh city for any car to stay in good shape due to the crazy bumps and uneven potholed streets. Unfortunately, I ended up flying (Dukes of Hazzard style) twice due to some bumps on the road that were basically camouflaged walls in the pavement positioned right at the end of a downhill street as in here some bumps are not signaled properly, and their dimensions are not standardized nor properly placed. In spite of that, The charger's been working fine for 5 years. In reality, I actually didn't have enough money back then to give it a more in-depth TLC. However, I always made sure the engine has been properly taken care for, but right now I am happily paying for the maintenance because I believe that the repair for 5 years of "a bit of" heavy use is well worth it, plus It was my first ride and I was learning all the tricks of the road. Now, I think that the chances for me to purposefully damage it or mistreat it are quite lower than at first, not that I wasn't taking care of it, I was, but my lack of expertise behind the wheel was still a factor, yet, I expect it to last for a long time with the proper care. My reason for wanting to sell it is just that I can see how it's getting harder to get spare parts, I am willing to pay don't get me wrong, but my fear is for the parts to end up unavailable for good, specially in here, and I am not in the business of hunting for spare parts, you can still get them. Nevertheless, being the first generation or chargers, I fear I may have to leave a perfectly good car to rust in a garage because one damn part may be out of stock. Note: If any of you know any good Mopar or Chrysler site that has global shipping, I'd greatly appreciate it

That new 6 w/turbos is not likely to do that. Purchased mine in 2018 w/ a little less than 5000 miles for $28000.00. Have been offered $31000.00 after 4 years. Has 28000 miles in it. If I don't lean on it in town it will get almost 17 mpg. Myself being 79 years; love to hit the on ramp floored. Had another Geezer pal along and he said it relieved his constipation. Love the car. The Dodge Charger was reintroduced for 2006 with a limited production Dodge Charger Daytona package that included a sportier interior, classic high impact exterior colors, a rear spoiler, a front chin spoiler, a blacked out grille surround, rear quarter panel striping reading "DAYTONA" on either side, a blackout vinyl between the taillights on the decklid, and a black vinyl on the hood with the word "HEMI" cut out twice. Heritage R/T badges replaced the Stock R/T's chrome badges. A performance suspension with load-leveling rear shocks was also standard, as well as unique wheels. 2006 wheels were the stock R/T 18" wheels with charcoal grey painted pockets, and lower profile wider tires. 2007 to 2009 wheels are 20" chrome clad wheels. In 2008, the rear quarter panel stripes were removed, and replaced with a strobe stripe on the lower portions of the doors that reads "DAYTONA" towards the front of the stripe. The hood decal was also modified. The 2006-2008 Daytona gains 10 hp (7 kW) over the standard Charger R/T via a freer flowing exhaust system featuring a single pass center muffler, and a larger diameter stock air cleaner giving it 350 hp. The car also had unique engine management software that removed the stock R/T speed limiter. The 2009 features the new Variable Camshaft Timing HEMI, producing 368 hp (274 kW). However she rejected the idea of selling this car, so I e kept it and occasionally drive it. The car has never been wrecked and adult driven with 118000 miles on the untouched motor except for frequent oil change intervals. The only problem we ever had was a leaking water pump that was caught before the car ever got low on coolant a few yrs ago, so I went ahead and overhauled the entire cooling system, hoses, thermostat and also a new surpintine belt ( no better time to change one) I think I’m ready for new tie rods and struts. While the car has never been beat on , these roads now will wear out a tank, lol , great Vlog!

    Great video! I’ve got a 2010 Charger that I bought brand new off the lot, still have it. They ride and handle great, mostly due to the fact that they are all Mercedes underpinnings. I believe the front suspension is from a C class and the rear an E class, although I may have that backwards. The only downfall is they go out of alignment somewhat easily. You’ll know when the ass end starts dancing around at 80 mph. When my girl starts “twerking”, that’s when I know it’s time to get her to an alignment rack.

    I'm the original owner of #3874, and still own it today. My car only has 45,000 miles on it, and is immaculate. I have the exact same option package as you have with the same radio, heated seats and dual zone climate control. I love my car and care for it as best as I can. Tie rods are the #1 most common issue with these cars. I had to have mine replaced at around 25,000 miles, and I feel that the alignment has never been fully correct since. Over the last few months I've even been thinking about contacting you, and setting up an appointment sometime this summer, if you would be willing to look at the tie rods on mine, and perform an alignment. Could be a pretty good opportunity to see a very good condition example.

    Wizard i have a question for you; i have a 2007 charger R/T (its AWD which is neat) but what ive noticed is i have a bit of a transmission seal leak. its only got 124k miles so i obviously want to take care of it, but i just want to know what the correct way to check transmission level is on these motors as there's no dipstick, theres only the little black cap that says "for dealer use only". i work in an oil shop so i can fill my transmission up for free its just a matter of knowing exactly how much there should be in it. any idea? i dont want to take it to a dodge dealer for them to check the level, id rather just fill it myself. just concerned of overfilling it of course. any info helps :)

    A specific dealer dipstick measuring in mm and measuring the transmission temp then charting it using a graph are how we check it at my shop

  • @dannylim3318

    @dannylim3318

    The transmission oil is usually checked by the dealer using a computer with the fluid level and temperature taken into consideration. You can buy a specialty dipstick (Miller No. 9336) and do this yourself. Follow the instructions included and it should be fine, although having a scan tool to check the fluid temperature helps.

    @@thebaerittos2930 i will eventually do that at the dealer, i just wanted a decent temporary solution. called the two local dealers and they said drive it up to operating temp and check it with my dipstick, aim for around 20-30 millimetres on the stick so that’s what i did. like i told the other guy, i already noticed less slipping and it just feels a bit smoother and that’s what matters to me. i got the car about a month ago, and found some slight transmission leaks when i took it into my shop so i just wanted to make sure it was good, especially cus the previous owner probably didn’t check it over the past year lolll

    Question for a Dodge mechanic on the 3.5 DOHC V6 that came in these era Chargers & Magnums. Violent sudden overheating. Fans do kick on. Coolant system pressure test done, holds pressure. Blue die head gasket 'sniffer' test done, passed. But let it idle or drive for a while and it'll get up to temp. But suddenly it'll start puking out it's coolant guts and the temp will spike. My guess is that there's a cracked head or block. Expands when hot to allow exhaust gasses to escape (causing overheating) but cools enough and seals for it to pass the pressure test. Anyone ever tear one of these motors apart to find the root cause? Tried some searches, but most were just suggestions and none difinitive. VT247

    Try pulling a vacuum on the cooling system and see if it holds vacuum. When does it overheat? At idle, or when driving? Can you see coolant flow when running? Has the thermostat ever been changed? Is the water pump noisy? Start basic and make sure it’s the engine and not something in the system first

    Probably not very helpful because it’s nearly impossible to check, but have heard of plastic impeller failure on some Chrysler water pumps. No sign of leakage but impeller broken or stripped, so it does nothing. To verify gotta remove it so like I said, not sure it’s helpful.

    @@retributionaura Yup. I have seen the plastic impellers come apart on the water pumps. I had an old Police Intrepid (2004)with the 3.5l HO the city gave up on. Car would run hot, but would cool down if you turned on the heater full blast. Checked everything externally including chem block check. pulled water pump and it was new. Pulled heads to check anyways for a head gasket and found plastic water pump impeller stuck in the input passage to the head blocking flow of Drivers side head. Thats where the thermostat sat down low.

    3.5L v6 is NOT DOHC. It's a SOHC. As for overheating, I've owned at least a half dozen of those in LHS's and Police Pursuit Intrepids. I have run across the stripped out impeller on a brand new MOPAR brand replacement water pump. I've also bought at auction an Intrepid with a history of overheating. That turned out to be an incorrectly replaced thermostat. The thermostat was installed BACKWARDS. The t/stat also has to be oriented a precise way, too. In all fairness to the previous mechanic, the t/stat is a real PITA to replace because of its location. These engines also are difficult to bleed-out the air which can be trapped in the heads, etc. Consult the intrepid forum for various bleeding procedures.
