Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s greatest teachers of Vedanta Philosophy, left his physical body on July 4th, 1902. He was just 39 years old. Vivekananda fulfilled his prophecy that he would not live for forty years. He was cremated on a sandalwood funeral pyre on the bank of the Ganges in Belur, opposite where Ramakrishna was cremated sixteen years earlier. It is stated that on the day of his sad demise, in the evening, around 7 p.m, Vivekananda went to his room, asking not to be disturbed. He died the same night at 9:10 p.m. while meditating. According to his disciples, Vivekananda attained Mahasamadhi. The rupture of a blood vessel in his brain was reported as a possible cause of death.

Who said he died? I read his books, and follow them. he is alive.
Swamiji didn't die while meditating. He consciously left his body through a process of yoga (as per the prophecy of his Guru Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa ji) for his work was done. On 4th July 1902 at 7pm Swamiji went to his room and asked Brahmachari Brajendra to go to other room, Wait and Meditate till he (Swamiji) calls him. At 8pm Swamiji called Brajendra and asked him to fan his head and then he fall asleep for 1 hour. He was lying to his left side and then lay down on his back and shortly after that he cried out like a baby cries for his mother. Then his right hand trembled and there was perspiration on his forehead and his head rolled down the pillow. There was silence for minute or two and again he breathed in the same manner, his body became still. It was 9.10 pm.
