joke's on you, the predator 21X (most powerful and biggest laptop of its generation) and the swift 7 (thinnest laptop in the world when dropped on the market) are acer laptops that cost over 2000$. Acer as a brand is actually able to produce both solid low-mid range stuff as well as more "premium" things.

@@theking-wv7dp the predator 21x was a halo product and the swift 7 was solely built to be "the thinnest" laptop. Yes rhey are premium laptops (and accordingly priced) but that doesn't make Acer a premium laptop brand/manufacturer. Acer builds more value oriented laptops, which are also important.

Porsche is not Bugatti. Porsche is the car space's Apple. All in the branding, because not any one of their consumers cares about something else than status. You don't have a fancy fast car who requires a bit a skill because of it's back-mounted engine, because at the end, you know nothing about cars. You just have a Porsche.

Porsche Design is not the same as Porsche AG... It is simply an apparel spinoff by F.A. Porsche. If this laptop were to be designed by Porsche AG it would do the Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes and the screen would be backwards.

It is designed in Zell am See, but the quality and the components are disappointing. You can't open it with one finger. Apple, HP or Microsoft are making some better laptops. Porsche Design is just expensive, but the accessories are really nice.

that's just a thing on all acer laptops with hdmi output and it's designed to be taken off, my acer spin 3 which is almost identical but cheaper had that but it peals of so easily and it has a stylus with wacom stylus and i got it for £510 with NHS discount, so yea this a bad deal

Hdmi tag is necessary by law. As every company has to license the hdmi connector from sony and everyone needs to use that tag on their device if it has a port that uses hdmi protocols (cheap Chinese companies can skip cuz they don't need license as chinese laws don't give a fuck about foreign rights😂) ..

I remember the Acer Aspire 7520g that I once had, for something around 400 euro's that thing was a beast with easy fan cleaning, easy RAM-upgrading, easy HDD-upgrading (having slots for two 2.5 inch drives) and for the time a proper mobile graphics card (GeForce 8600M GT). Unfortunately it died a couple of years ago so I had to put it away but damn that thing was epic. It was heavy and big but when I bought it I was 14, that's 12 years ago.

I wouldn't say this is a product for actual rich people. This is a product for people with disposable income who actually buy into the design and branding. It's another chunk of the same segment Beats sells to, or that buys a brand new base model Ford Mustang. Rich enough to waste some money, not rich enough for the waste to be broadly impressive. An actually rich person wasting money on a PC is going to get something custom, though perhaps not as custom as the illuminati build LTT did. Not to say that a rich person might not own Beats or even this laptop, but this isn't some sort of excess inaccessible to the middle class of first-world countries.

Porsche doesn't commission companies to make stuff for them, in fact "Porsche Design" has nothing to do with Porsche (Porsche doesn't try to push "Porsche Design" products in any way). Acer in this case bought the name so they can slap it on their garbage. You and I can buy it and stick it on a piece of candy for all they care. For acer, it's basically just intended as a marketing thing to give the veneer of a company that deals with premium brands (nobody's gonna buy it, no matter how stupid). Usually however, crap brands buy the name to get some recognition and pass the name cost onto the consumer.

One power supply that's usb-c, but maybe you want to leave that port open for something else, then you can charge with the barrel connector and keep your port open. I think it's awesome they include both ways to charge it in the box!

I like to think that aftermarket support (repairs, drivers, etc.) will be better than their self made laptop a few years ago, since their piggybacking off of Acer's support channels.

@@enderan647 Well, if i'm not mistaking, overclocking is achieved exactly by pumping into processor more electricity. So, kind of, yeah. In this case however it would go into the battery and battery then would regulate the current to optimal one so this wouldn't work but anyway I reread your question and it seems you're asking a bit different thing. Yes, you can say what's horsepower for cars are hertz for computer. In some way. Pumping in more electricity will make it run on higher frequencies thus increasing speed

Man, Alex has come a long way. He used to be a pretty insecure, but now he really is a great host!

See they included a barrel charger as there is only a single type C port and if you are using a dock which doesn't support charging pass through, you actually are in need of that barrel adapter. Granted they could have just provided a barrel cable which you could have swapped out with the included power brick instead of a separate one.

I have a pretty cheap old HP EliteBook and just put it onto a pillow and pushed down on the keyboard - no flexing at all. On a hard desk it's the same.

The barrel charger is there so you can charged the laptop when using an eGPU in case your eGPU doesn support charging.

That leather bag is generally used to keep documents related to your car in your glove box. I'm guessing it might be for the "warranty booklet" that was in the box, as well as anything else you might wanna keep in there. Or is that just a German thing? :D

Im German and if I speak English I pronounce it the same, because its fucking weird to forcefully swap how you speak And by the way most guys who try to pronounce it "properly" sound equally wrong to me (like a German with a heavy accent speaking english)

This is like those laptops from the past design reconfigured to be thinner, twistable, touch screen feature, new updates but it's flat out straight tbh and not an all rounder.

Porsche should just not even try, anyone who's paying a premium for a name in the tech industry is buying Apple.

you are probably meant to keep and reuse the box, i do that for a lot of other boxes. storage, organization, etc. the better the quality of the box, the better its going to look when you use it in this manner

I like the additional charger thing, then I can keep one at home at my desk and have one to take with me on the go. However with everyone moving to USB-C for charging thats less of an issue since one probably has already another USB-C charger for the phone anyway.

My dad had an Acer ferrari laptop, super wicked at runescape, i also confessed my 6th grade love to a classmate on it

I wish i was rich enough to get stuff that doesn't work and then when asked why i bought it point at the logo

Acer use to do this quite often, ten years ago or so. Asus too. Acer at one time had a Ferrari Version of this which was a laptop with a matching second monitor. It was pretty cool.
