@@X_irtz I don't know, I only see the hobby from the enthusiast forums and such, but I think despite desktop sales continuing to contract, we're still getting lots of "new to PC from the consoles" users. For those folks, not familiar with hobby or it's quirks, Steam hardware survey might seem like a good metric for what folks that do know are using. If they watch this video that idea would only be re-enforced.

I am using a 3060 and I'm glad I got the card. In our country the card is still going new for over 300$ which is just absurd. I got mine during the whole crypto hype which was expensive but I still needed a good enough GPU for that time so I just had to make a decision. The card performs well with my R5 3600 delivering 60fps on native res on newly released ghost of tsushima title.

Depending on games, 3060 can be good enough. It also power efficient and 12 GB of RAM is good. If you play latest AAA titles on ultra it will not make it, but lower to high 1080p and you will be good to go, maybe sometimes with DLSS. It still a solid card, people who think otherwise just have not tried it.

I bought my son the Gainward Ghost 3060 12GB at the start of Covid for £500! Great card but then upgraded him to a Palit 3070 GAMING PRO which blew it out of the water… he’s now rocking a Asus 4070 TUF GAMING OC which was a decent upgrade but not the difference from 3060 to 3070. For £260 ish the 3060 for 1080p is a great deal.

The RTX 3060 12GB still is a pretty good card and pretty much the minimum requirement for a modern FullHD gaming PC if you buy new. I'd check out the RX 6700 XT ( and possibly 6750 XT ) before buying though, because those are faster and actually can provide decent 4k gaming performance for the same price or less.

I have a friend that bougght a 3060 because he needed something with low power draw as well as a GPU that would run WoW at 4k well and didn't have a completely gimped memory bus and lane count when it came to running with a ryzen 3600 which is pcie 3.0. He bought it in 2024 because there was pretty much nothing else except the 4070 which is more power than he wanted to draw as well as about twice as expensive for 90% more performance which means it's a bit less cost efficient for the performance. No good options for him...

The 3060 12GB (Specifically) is an amazing 1080p-1440p *NATIVE* Medium-Ultra Esports and well optimized AAA card. I have the exact same card and model for the past 25 months. It's more of a 1080p card in 2024. Even then, newer games like avatar, alan wake 2, starfield etc require upscaling to get 60fps at 1080p. I also have really bad frame drops in helldivers 2 to 15-20fps so im worried I'll be needing a faster card if i hope to play newer games.

12GB is pretty good for generating high res big tiddy waifus in stable diffusion. But in games (latest AAA mostly) GPU itself just too slow to utilize the VRAM, other than smoothing out frame-times at ultra settings and low fps. I dunno. Why did you buy a 40 month old weak at launch 1080p card for 280 quid when today I can buy an rx 6750 xt xfx qick from ebuyer for £300? The 6750 xt is 41% faster in Rasterisation (pick yr spelling) also has 12Gb vram and the chops to use it in 1440p AAA higher settings gaming. The 3060 'doesnt'. The 3060 was so poor ncr4ppier put 12Gb on it but only 8gb on the 3060 t.i. which is 28% faster. Everybody saw thru this price hiking ruse on the 3060 sh1t show. Generations ago card vendors used to add more ram to crap gpu's but no longer allowed even if possible. So, what else we got? Some utter b0ll0x about the fan blades being curved and higher static pressure? Like they arent on every s.k.u. graphics card? SERIOUSLY? The difference in same price tier gpu cards re noise and temps is minimal, this is not a new field of physics f.f.s. IF you dont know this create a channel about something else. (mowing lawns?) Oh, you want perhaps to help all those people move from a gtx 1650 to an rtx 3060 for 1440p (most of those '50 cards are in o.e.m. boxes) Well, that is going to require a power supply upgrade and once you move off the O.E.M. crap PSU that a 1650 will run on THEY will be spending £55 ish for a reliable gaming quality psu.. ALL. DAY. LONG. (quick look on part picker) Say, 550w for your sh1t heap 3060 card ( but once you get into 550 Watts GAMING quality unit, prices vary less . The cheapest 550 watt unit I trust today is the be quiet sys power 10 550w at £52..(trust long term open / hi flow case) But the be quiet! System Power 10 650 W bronze for £58.. so suddenly a card that needs 650w PSU doesnt look like a deal breaker. You move on to equate graphics card performance to vram, this is a real noob mistake. A 4 Gb rx 4/570 / 80 (and 1060 3Gb if tweaked settings carefully)) will p1ss all over a 4Gb rx 4/ 560, gtx 1050 ti / 1650 in mmo's. And old AAA games @ 1080p. Basically there are a dozen known popular tech tubers who are absolute experts at this AND YOU SIR ARE NOT ONE OF THEM.

The 3060 has the same amount of shaders as the flagship from 2011 , namely 3584 , and since its memory is half the buswidth , 192 , but twice the speed , it performs about the same as the 1080ti. How can it be a bad card. On the other side , the 1080ti is already 13 years old. But for 1080p gaming , rendering and video editing it is a great low budget choice.

Same thing even with the 3070 and 3070Ti - which are perfectly capable cards, but they both have 8GB! 😐 Nvidia done fucked up. Consoles released in 2020 have 16GB (albeit "shared" memory - shared with the CPU - technically APU). 16GB should have been standard by now. We've had 8GB in 2016 (GTX 1070 and RX 480). way better? please. difference is +-10% at most (tomshardware GPU hierarchy list). But 3060 has huge benefit of DLSS image quality as well as DLAA and DLDSR for older games and 6650 is stuck with HUGELY inferior FSR2 (AND it will NOT be getting AI version of FSR when AMD will be bothered to get their ass in to gear, coz RX 7000 series are the first ones with AI accelerators, "ISA"). And depending on the game you can even afford to run RT on 3060, like control and light RT in 2077. So it's not as cut and dry as you make it out.

@@KissesLoveKawaii yes, it is way better because the price of the 6650xt is nearly 20 percent cheaper for the performance, and although the 3060 does have better image quality, and it does have dlss, the 6650xt is still more future proof, the 6650xt, and fsr has been improving pretty good, and without dlss or fsr, the 6650xt still performs better. The question is whether it is worth nearly 20% more for better image quality, and worse performance in most cases.

Not much games (like LoU) overcome 8 GB VRAM at 1080p, even with high res. textures at ultra settings. Tested it with RTX 4070 Ti (12 GB VRAM).

@@Annihilate3275 @abdellahelzhari8127 lets calm down a little bit. The 3060 isn't necessarily a trash card, but I do agree that it is not the best option for cheap. Nelly stated that he was looking for a 1080p card specifically, and that was what he was looking for, not a 1440p card. Now personally, I would probably go for the 6650xt instead, since it can outperform the 3060, and is also about 40 dollars cheaper.
