We all have differents opinions. That's the way of intelligence, the hability of thinking. I wasn't here to be interresting, and I don't say Georges will have done a better cause he would certainly have not. Star Wars was great because of the team behind it. Georges have decide to work alone for the Prequels and it was not the same. Not only that, he took credit where other have work at his place. We all know Spielberg have make the Second movie, number 5 for confusion. Georges did good thing of course, and the prequel wasn't all that bad. I still love the story, that have created a lot of contenue and lore. Just can be better writing and he should have accept his weakness. In my opinion, I think the last trilogy was a waste. You can be desagree, but it could have been something. The war of Director destroid all the good in it. Now hear me out. I am not here to say Disney is Evil. We got good thing from them since they have star wars, but still, you have to admit we have lost a lot since. On the other hand, Georges seems to don't know what he was doing. Now you can see, I gave my opinion even if I am not english native, and I will be glad to read yours. 🙂

I always assumed, at least in part, he did it so it would continue. I don't know if any of his family were prepared, or ever expected, to curate the Star Wars IP, like Christopher Tolkien did for Lord of the Rings, or who else at LucasFilms could, if something unexpected happened to him, and while he might have been getting tired of making Star Wars, or catching flak for what he made, he wanted to make sure someone would be there to keep making it. Disney wasn't going anywhere, they could afford it, they were powerful within the entertainment industry, and often had a good track record with writing good stories, and using elements of history/mythology to loosely inspire them. He made a lot of money, had freedom to do other things, certainty that his thing had a future, and probably expected to continue to advise.

His mistake was not selling his masterpiece, it was WHO he was selling it to

Maybe he could have sold it to the 20th Century Fox (when it was still existing), or to another major film studio, like Universal, Warner Bros, Sony, Paramount… Because now, I feel like Disney is a big conglomerate who wanted to control everything…

Nah the it was unfair to his employees thing is bullshit. Shows like the clone wars and the future show rebels were and going to be huge money makers both in just the show itself and merchandise, they just had to stop canceling games like 1313, battlefront 3, and what not. Other games like swtor still bring in massive amounts of money per year enough to keep all of Lucas arts employed. They had plenty of books and comics that many considered cannon to make movies off of (which is what Disney is starting to do since they realized they can't create anything good). Star wars was in a VERY good place still when he sold it arguably the best it's ever been till that point with how diverse the fan base is with the entire star wars universe.

The worst thing about Star Wars is the “fans”.

GL made a great movie bc his wife was an AMAZING editor. He basically made two hour toy commercials after they split. Congratulations on making that money, re-releasing the OG trilogy and cutting out your ex was excellent for the bottom line. As far as the franchise is concerned, the further away from Lucas it gets, the better it'll be for the fandom.

He should have pass the franchise down to his children

I've seen the rise of skywalker and it was the best star wars movie I've ever seen and I've seen every star wars movie in full. The older films are awesome but a lot of the love for them is nostalgia. The phantom menace is my second favorite star wars movie. I'm not trolling and yes I understand my opinion is hugely unpopular and I'm okay with that

I’m personally glad Lucas sold the films. The state of Star Wars in the 2000s was very similar to the state of Harry Potter now: a franchise created by a visionary decades ago was being slowly ruined due to said visionary having too much control, being unaware of their flaws as a storyteller, and not listening to anyone else.

If Disney payed him to make a 4th trilogy It may redeem the franchise.

I feel like Star wars went downhill because like they lost with the original idea came from it's kind of like he thought it would be like how Minecraft she went notch sold it made a lot of money off of it and now Minecraft's excelling but even the wrong way because like physics and all kinds of stuff broke cuz I couldn't find a good director after that

It's too bad the ghost of his good friend Jim Henson didn't come back to warn him. When Disney bought The Muppets and ruined that franchise years beforehand I knew then and there Disney had become a toxic company.

He was tricked into selling his amazing creation through lies and manipulation. The fact that he wanted to stop depriving the fans of new Star Wars stories so much that he trusted a company known for prioritising revenue over good stories and believed they would respect him without any legal requirement just shows how selfless he is. He trusted them with his creation so we as fans could get the new product we wanted and so we could still get new product after he was gone, but they took advantage of his desire too deliver on our requests, and his need to find someone who can keep it alive when he no longer is, and they cast him aside the moment he had no legal ability too call any shots, and they’ve been leaching and sucking it dry ever since

Money over everything people. Everyone has a price and Disney could pay it.

It’s a shame that the executives of Lucas didn’t push back against a Chinese backed corporate propaganda machine. But I would crumble at the sight of that money too.
