Why did Christian never have the WWE career that Edge did? | The Wrestling Outlaws

Ойын-сауық

Vince Russo really likes Christian as a person, but he got frustrated working with the legendary pro wrestler in TNA. He mentions that he never saw Christian in the same light as Edge when the two men came in. EC3 and Dr. Chris Featherstone are huge Christian fans and they both put the man over big time.
EC3 also mentions how he could have become a viral sensation in NXT but a writer decided to play it safe. You only get this content in The Wrestling Outlaws.

Ability wise, Christian is one of the all time greatest talents! In the ring, on the mic and in terms of his range as a character, Christian is too good! Vince should've pushed him way more but that's not a shortcoming on Christian's side. Vince commited many crimes over the years.

Being a perfectionist is never a bad thing. It is what it is! Christian Cage is a 1/1 performer; he has a vision, and it's a VERY consistent vision. He embodies everything it means to be a wrestling CHARACTER.

I think its more the broken formula of picking the supposedly best of a pair in a tag team and only pushing that one guy . Christian proves that formula is broken because they both could've shined. Edge was the standout early on but through the years while gaining more experience Christian turned out to be a great ring general in his own right. Plus he had more longetivity, and quite honestly turned out to be greater on the mic/ more charismatic than Edge. Edge had a great run in the 00's but you can't deny Lita's role in helping him get over as a big heel.

Vince made sure to give everything to Edge early on! Gave him the King of the Ring, Money in the Bank and a Royal Rumble win to name a few things to make sure he gets over. He wasn't getting reactions before Lita yet Vince made sure his guy gets over no matter what. Christian got none of these chances and he got so over on his own in 2005 yet Vince just wouldn't push him! He could've easily gotten a main event push then but Vince always held him down. Even after proving himself as an absolute star in TNA Vince still held him down and put him in ECW yet he still carried that show! Christian is truly one of the biggest talents ever and it was not fair how Vince treated him over the years.

Most tag teams have a Shawn Michaels and a Marty Jannetty. One who goes on to be a huge name, and the other is the bridesmaid. Bret Hart was the Shawn of the Hart Foundation, Neidhart was the Jannetty. Davey Boy (HBK), Dynamite Kid (Jannetty). One flourishes and goes onto greatness as a singles star, the other flounders, One is the hero (Batman), and one is the sidekick (Robin). Well, in this scenario, Edge is the huge star, multi-time champion, main-evented WM etc. Christian is more the guy with the mid-card run. Edge is more likely to fight a Triple H, John Cena or Roman Reigns or Undertaker. Christian is more likely to fight Rey Mysterio, The Miz or Chavo Guerrero. Christian's best singles runs have come from when he wasn't in WWE, (in TNA and AEW) where he isn't in Edge's shadow. Christian is massively talented and charismatic, but he is a more successful "Marty Jannetty" type wrestler, who will always play co-pilot on the plane captained by Edge.

I can't remember him main-eventing a WWE PPV. His ECW title defences weren't ever last on the card. He had short World Title reigns, where he lost every match to Randy Orton. Then you really make a fool of yourself by trashing Edge's legacy and saying that he isn't that good. Edge main-evented two Wrestlemanias, and many other PPVs. He has held the main belt for long reigns and then, after a career-ending injury, he came back and was able to put on good matches. Edge is also a Hall-Of-Famer. To say Edge has achieved nothing is akin to saying that Shawn Michaels achieved nothing after the break-up of the Rockers. It is ludicrous. Now Christian has had a better career than Jannetty, but both live in the shadows of their Tag-Team partner.

There's nothing wrong with being gay-don't be closeted about your sexuality; like one Vince McMahon. At the end of the day, WWE (and wrestling as a whole) is not a real sport-it's only a TV show; about a real sport. When a director casts a set of actors; it is the director who ultimately decides what role the actor will play. The actor's role is evaluated by the director's vision. Actors are a means to an end; for the story that the director wants to tell. This scenario is no different. Vince McMahon has a track-record for only pushing wrestlers who arouses his vision. Christian never aroused his vision; that's the real reason why he never got the WWE push, and Edge did.

Completely agreed. Everything Edge did in his career-Christian did it first (and I'm not joking when I say that.) Before there ever was a Matt Hardy/Edge/Lita love triangle; there was a Chris Jericho/Christian/Trish Stratus love triangle. Before Edge ever got the opportunity to main event a WWE PPV for the WWE Championship-Christian already did it first, when he main evented Vengeance 2005 against Chris Jericho and John Cena (c). I feel like Vince McMahon just observed Christian's work in the early 2000s, saw how much more passionate he was about the business than Edge, and then essentially; VKM slowly tugged the rug from under Christian's feet, as soon as Edge returned from his neck injury in 2004. By the time Christian left WWE in 2005 however, that's when VKM really catapaulted Edge into the main event scene. And he did that-because he had no choice; he KNEW Christian was going to blow the roof off TNA, and he had to do something to retaliate. And that is the BIGGEST reason Edge (HIMSELF) had a flourishing WWE career -It was because Christian broke the door down for it to happen!

All you *REALLY* just said, is that you (yourself) were aroused by Christian when he had long hair, and that he does absolutely nothing for you; now that he has short hair. Or do you not even realize that yet? Cool. Looks don't matter; they're SUBJECTIVE. Look at a guy like Darby Allin-they would never utilize him like a Rey Mysterio Jr. (which is what AEW has BEEN doing). Darby Allin in WWE would've been the equivalent to Shannon Moore in WWE; a jobber-enhancement talent. Darby's in-ring ability and character work would never be showcased appropriately in the WWE. How do you figure that? Christian was just as good a worker as Edge, the WWE were just more consistent with edges booking

In the ring and on the mic Christian is a better worker. Edge got pushed more because Vince liked him. Ability wise, he had nothing on Christian.
