    @@dreadequation7320 you can only live off of your tarnished reputation for so long, Diablo Immortal might be the "eye opener" but give it 1-2 more games like it, people are simply not going to bother even trying to play their games, even if they are "free" to play. in fact, i have a gut feeling that diablo immortal won't last to the end of summer before it drops in playerbase numbers so significantly that blizzard will be forced to remedy the P2W system currently in place to attract more players, and the reasoning is simple: f2p won't last vs. p2w. if all the f2p players quit the game, the whales will only be competing with other whales and if everyone is a whale then nobody is. when a whale cannot roflstomp an enemy player in 3-4 hits (like they currently do f2p'ers) while being able to take 30 to 40+ hits before they go down themselves, they will rear their head and go "you know what, this is not fun because i am not winning". in a sort of tragic turn of events, the whale will realize that he needs to f2p leeches to enjoy his game, all but too late for it to matter.

    League of Legends is a PvP game. Balancing the game for Challenger means that in the hands of the best players against the best players, a champion should have a 50% win rate. But that logic doesn't apply for PvE: the AI that fights the best raiding guild in the world is the same AI that fights your PUG, so rather than you getting the benefit of a dumber opponent that is worse at using the tools available to it, you get destroyed.

    Using development time to create awesome cosmetics only to put them behind a cash shop paywall, despite having paid a full price for the game is still crossing the line for me. Like, that was the first step, and now that it's become normalized we all think it's fine since it hasn't stepped over the 'pay to win' line. Cosmetics should be rewards like any other kind of reward for overcoming obstacles in a game. Doing raids, quests, world bosses etc. Also, why the fuck does every game now need a damn battle pass in the mix. Like, we all know why, so can we stop fucking supporting it please. It's just a clever layer to do the same god damn thing as paying to progress faster, but now we can get you to play the game a little and drip feed premium rewards. There is no good intentions for the players when these things are designed.

    Companies have pushed it and pushed it with new awful things, and now even the most anti-AAA people are saying "Well, it's fine if it's just cosmetic". That's exactly what these companies want. • @PQED

    @PQED

    I agree. They've been pushing things like microtransactions for a very long time now (remember when DLC was called "microtransaction" (still is, really), all the while costing almost as much as the game in some situations? And the "content" it offered wasn' t like an expansion; it was just paltry bullshit that was never worth the price. It has been going even longer than that really, but as usual people just wave it off like no big deal; and they still are. That's a HUGE problem, as this doesn't even have a remote chance to improve until people open their eyes, and I fear they never will. They just see one outrage as a contained thing, and when that's dealt with, that's that. They don't see that the problems are still there and growing faster and faster. The future of gaming looks really dark, especially on the AAA front. The games are more monetization than game (Diablo Immortal is a perfect example of this). I can only hope that the governments will come down like Thor's hammer on them, but we know how slow-moving that machine is as well; provided they do anything at all. There's also the problem of not being able to play the games you bought once the servers are taken down, but that's a bit of a different issue, excuses for it included.

That if they counted 'small caves with enemies/loot/chests' like not all Caves in Elden ring were massive structures with some 'final boss', then MAYBE? Absolutely dreadful, I can't see why 'Diablo fans' stuck with Diablo 3 for so long before waking up. I usually ask myself, with games like these, before hopping in, is "Do I Care about the world I'm meant to be saving? Do I even care about the characters and the threats/enemies thrown at me?" Diablo 1 and 2 I could say yes, but nothing else has really made me care. Just as I agree with Asmon that 'Blizzard games at Endgame content is usually flat and boring', Diablo 3 especially. I played Diablo 1 and 2 to death but only played through Diablo 3 once and 'a little bit more', then uninstalled forever. I do like the MMO-social hub aspect of Immortal and what will be Diablo 4, and we know 'we'll get our moneys worth' of $60-$70 but the questions raised are valid, PoE is Free and Diablo 4 may also just be another money-grubbing tactic of desperation. Why do people call the Necromancer a "brand new class" when it isn't brand new. What was a brand new job class is the Assassin in Diablo II, since there was no Assassin class in the original Diablo. Necromancer is an original job class, thus has been in all of the Diablo series. It's just a returning OG job class coming back in Diablo IV. A brand new job class in Diablo IV would be like a Summoner/Ranger/Berserker class. Calling Necromancer brand new job class is saying we've never seen it done before in the Diablo series.

    How is it illegal? The gambling aspect? Look I hate to say this, but, speaking as someone who has walked away from gaming almost entirely, it is what it is. The profitability of these schemes will always make a more compelling argument to those in the business of making games then the artistic one. It does make a worse game, but they aren't in business to make artistic masterpieces. They are in business to maximize the profitability of their products. As long as people buy enough copies, enough cosmetics, enough P2W elements, we will be stuck with this model of game development. And to Rita, they will never "see that (it) is wrong." It manifestly isn't wrong in their perspective. They are trying to make money. And as predatory and exploitative as their methods are, they are extremely lucrative. Only once they cease to be lucrative, will these companies see them as wrong. Too bad they will drag some of the most legendary series and characters down with them. There is only one option in my opinion. Stop buying these games, these consoles, these services altogether. At a minimum, only buy games from small time, independent creators. They will absolutely be less visually appealing and have substantially less polish. However they will be significantly MORE likely to be story/character driven and focus on user experience and game play over strict monetization. Hell in order to improve their current and future offerings to even begin to compete with the big dawgs, frankly the need the money because that is how the world ultimately works.

    If there was actually 150 dungeons, especially unique dungeons, I would be floored. However they got a lot on their plate because path of exile is not only a fantastic game created from the spirit of Diablo 2 with amazing graphics and game play that has only improved and got better through time - It has stand the test of time. So if they can't beat path of exile it will go down hill. If they can at least match POE then it just serves as a different game from the same genre to play with different mechanics... Which POE has a ton of different mechanics and their skill tree is massive. You got a lot of work to do Diablo 4... I'll be happy if they come out with something good, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Time will tell, as it anyways does. Worst case, I'll just continue to play POE where they do sell cosmetics. PS - I feel that WW whirlwind spin is a tad slow. Maybe it's just me and my love of D2, but when WW was first introduced it was so fast that it was basically a fan blur, or so it was conveyed in 2D... D2/2D lol Final Edit: Since I made this comment before they even showed POE which I'm not surprised, is that if they do sell potions for magic find outside of gear stats then that's pretty lame. I don't know if anyone feels the same, but these types of games and the fun I get is the thrill of finding powerful items and if you find something really good not only are you stronger from how rare it is, but the rarity itself gives you sense of accomplishment. Take that away and you're taking a major part of what makes the game fun away. Once everyone has the same most powerful items, it's boring after that and in fact if they plan to add new items every year then I think that would be cool.

Its not a small difference, it is orders of magnitude different. I don't feel at all motivated to ever spend another dime on POE, and will be enjoying the game for the next large number of years as I have for a number of years already. Not to mention that the depth of POE was already massive, and they have been adding to the already kind of insane skill tree and gem systems as well as the extremely deep itemization and crafting, and endgame systems. Just so many layers in that onion, and they just keep adding more layers to so many of the already super dense and complex systems, and they are doing extremely well at making all the needed new storage space completely free, a trend they have delivered on for a good while. While it is true that ascendencies have been a bit slow to progress, we are already talking about 7 basic classes with 3 ascendencies for 6 of them, so even there they are WAY ahead of the curve in terms of originality and delivery of a variety of builds. All the problems in gaming, or most industries, could be alleviated by having intelligent prudent consumers, but their are currently too many fools with money and I cannot blame blizzard for selling what people are willing to buy. They would be stupid not to. The only good games, in my opinion, that will come out in the future will be from game developers passionate about their craft and not their bottom line. Fromsoftware is probably the largest company that still works on this model after the the fall of Bioware and CDPR. I goes in a cycle. You start out with passionate people developing games because they love them (that was Blizzard, Bioware, etc. in their beginnings). Their games explode in popularity b/c they are great and that generates both revenue and the interests of larger publishers. A big publisher swoops in and outright buys the company or enough control in it. This may start out a good thing b/c with greater funding those passionate people can make even greater games, but slowly those people are replaced or forced out and the corporation concerned only with short term profits fill the voids. They wear the dead husk of a once great name (Bioware/Blizz/etc.) and utilize its name for a while until consumers wise up and stop paying. They then toss aside the company and move on to their next victim, I mean partner.

    @Denizen of The Depths If consumers demanded quality products than the best way for corporations to fulfill that fiduciary responsibility would be to make quality products. It is nearly entirely on consumers. This was why pay-to-win and microtransaction bullshit was predominantly in Asia where culturally it was acceptable and not in the Western market. This type of monetization was tried several times in the West (though not to such an extreme as in Diablo Immortal) and actually failed to take hold, but over time companies seeing how lucrative the Asian market was (especially in mobile) began to incrementally push these ideas and consumers let it happen. The metaphor of the frog boiling alive is very apt in this case, even if the actually science experiment involved cutting out portions of the frogs' brains.

THEY CAN MAKE MONEY BY MAKING GOOD GAMES TOO! This is not a question of a)make shit game and make millions or b) make bad game and make nothing. They're going to make millions either way, just a matter if they care enough to do the due diligence to make the product that they promised. This notion of blaming the gamers is honestly a sick mentality and does nothing to progress the issue. The reality is gamin does not have any real competitors when it comes to entertainment; majority of gamers will keep playing even if games begin to get worse, simply because its still better than watching the next garbage sitcom on netflix. The ONLY hope we will have is if this corporate fraud will start to be criminally charged in a court of law. Beyond that, the power we have as gamers is ultimately irrelevant. I've stopped pre ordering games, ive boycotted titles, and what does it matter? They continue to grow. All we can realistically do is support the good companies and avoid the bad ones. You say the gamers accepting crap are the problem? People like you, convincing the gamers that they are the KEY issue, are the BIGGEST problem. To put in perspective of how lucrative the heavily monetized mobile version of PC games could be: Diablo 3 sold 30m copies, to make the same amount of money 30m copies at $60 made Blizzard...they would only need 90k people putting in the amount Rich has at around $20k. You can make the same amount of money in monetization with a 99.7% DECREASE in the player base.

    @@DoctorStrange01 Obviously you missed the point I was making of the extreme in which you could push it down to, not that there are 90k people out there that will put 20k into 1 game release, but its the level of average that means you need a much smaller playerbase, to the level of 1-5%, than 30m to make 30m peoples worth of buy in, even if you released it for free. You obviously also haven't watched enough on the subject to realise that the mobile games industry is bigger and makes much more money over time than both PC and console if you think there aren't vast amounts of people putting vast amounts of consistent money into it, similar to this guy in the video who's mentioned putting 6 figures into clash of clans so he's already put enough for 5+ 20k peoples input in before you start counting the 20k people. If you watch Asmongold video he posted a few hours ago on a guy talking about Diablo 4 being a worry you'll see the level of cash shop most people are expecting from Diablo 4 and why that outrage will literally be minimal even though its essentially the same practices.

    @@DoctorStrange01 Dude im literally the OP, the original point made is my point, if I then have to reply saying you missed the point and explain how you missed the point you've obviously missed the point I made because...I made the point lol. You've just interpreted what you wanted from it and then gone off on your own tangent of mobile game bashing and comparing immortal current revenue to diablo 3 as if that has anything to do with my point, which is a study of the numbers involved in a IF scenario. The fact you're here going "Oh immortal isn't close to matching PC diablo yet" is literally nothing to do with my point just you're own random take you've decided to have. Again as pointed out nobody is expecting D4 to be immortal levels of P2W, battlepass with a brought battle pass option that gives you more resources or cosmetics maybe? XP boosters, loot % boosters etc are things we are potentially expecting and questioning which is a hybrid that will be born from PC/console gaming of just free battlepass and cosmetics with mobile gaming monetization, similar to the issues a few years ago with AC Odyssey monetization that happened.

Players that buy the full game also get a battle pass (for 3 or 6 months or so). And then the shop to buy/extend your battle pas. Personally i hope no battlepass at all of course, but i feel they want to squeeze the gamepass players to make them pay something

    Honestly imo having WoW raids be extremely hard isn't necessarily the problem. The problem is that they then nerf them a million times. If they want two versions of the fight, one for the race and one for everyone else then they should just actually release two versions of the raid not nerf it. That harder version should also only have a vanity reward like a mount, some good looking transmogs etc. and not anything that's stronger than what the version for everyone else drops

If that isn't enough then you are lying about wanting a harder raid for the sake of challenge and should get NOTHING for being a liar.
