    I like the Sith which play less than obvious important roles - but still deeply influential ones. Tenacious was a scientist and engineer, he was able to supply armies ans governments of his choosing to further his own and the Siths plans, as well as funding himself and influencing the Galaxy at large. Plagueis was a banker, and as weve seen in our own world, banking is the less obvious but far more influential aspect of economically influencing the world. They arent explicit combatants, they aren't politicians and they remain in the shadows, but heavily influence events and make connections for the next in the Line of the Rule of Two.

    I like how neither Plagueis nor Tenebrous really respected lightsabers, but Tenebrous still enjoyed a duel. I imagine a saber battle is a great way to let oneself slip into the dark side, it's violent, it puts strain on the physical form, and it's extremely dangerous. All good things for sinking oneself deeper into the darkside of the force. It was one of Starkiller's, essentially, meditation methods, typically enjoying his spars with his droid Proxy.

  • @stooge389

    Agreed. Sideous is kinda unique, in that he considered Lightsabers to be a Jedi weapon, and that the Sith had evolved beyond the need for them. Since he was either the best swordsman in the galaxy, or tied with Yoda, depending on how you interpret the outcome of their duel in the Senate Rotunda, it actually does make a lot of sense. He destroyed the Jedi Order while only killing 3 Jedi with his own lightsaber. For him, it was more a contingency plan than anything else. A backup plan, in case he was cornered, as he of course was by Mace and the other 3 cannon fodder- I mean Jedi.

    I liked this era of the Sith for their hypocrisy and weakness of ideology. These Sith were something akin to old money, who had gained much via inheritance but had no understanding of its value. This, culminating in Palpatine electrocuting his drunk, sleeping master who had still not fully tested his own theories (which Sidious would later need to become immortal, but were now lost to time since he had never truly eclipsed Plagueis in skill beyond political maneuvering.)

  • @joshdunne8792

    I've read a theory that Palpatine did actually achieve immortality. When Palpatine tells Luke to strike him down with all his hatred, Luke actually killing Palpatine would allow him to possess Luke. The son of the chosen one would naturally have unbelievably high midichlorions, meaning Palpatine would have achieved the goal of his predecessors. The theory goes on that if Palpatine killed Plagueis and each sith before them killed their master maybe Darth Bane is simply the one and only Sith, possessing each apprentice after the next

    I like this era as well, for a reason you yourself stated in a video a long time ago. This era of Sith werent overtly important people. They weren't warriors, combatants, political leaders, or anyone blatantly obviously influencing the world. They were scientists, engineers bankers. were connected people who could influence the Galaxy in subtle and deep ways all hidden in the shadows. They didnt need to fight in the open, they could finance or supply armies with machines or tech to suit their ends and be relatively unknown for their actions.

    I like how Tenebrous and Plagueis are one of few force users with a rationalist outlook on the Force. Most Force users, even the Sith, treat the Force as this mystic, religious phenomenon but Nome and Damask treat the Force in an almost entirely scientific manner. It's a unique perspective and I wish we saw more characters use this angle I do wonder if the particularly shameful ends of Tenebrous and Plagueis were because the Force itself held them in a special contempt for "demystifying" it. If Palpatine's end was the Force acting in a sort of self-defense, their end was the Force repaying an insult

  • @lordpuller2226

    @lordpuller2226

    I think the scientific angle was just one way that the Force explores a dichotomy. In this case science versus mysticism. As much that Tenebrous and Plageus twisted force cells their very act of comprehending the force scientifically laid the groundwork for the jedi prophecy to come true in the form of Anakin Skywalker as the Force converged on Tatooine.

Maybe even inspired to do so by the Rakatans, as an even more ancient group of dark-side wielders whom pre-dated the Sith and even played a role in the creation of the first Sith holocron. The Rakatans were able to create a bunch of crazy tech and even a superweapon known as the Starforge by combining the Force with the technology they used. You were wrong about the name Tenebrous. It says clearly in the Tenebrous Way that he gave himself the name. Then he saw Plagueis as a slave to possess from the beginning. Tenebrous Way makes it clear that was the plan from the beginning and he didn't train Plagueis properly. Wish that book had done a better job with Venamis, but I think Tenebrous had an informant tell subtext to sabotage the probe. The first sentence of the Tenebris Way indicated that dying felt good and had he known, he would've done it sooner. He wasn't angry, that was an act for Plagueis's benefit.

The following is from the Darth Plagueis Legends page on Wookiepedia: After accessing the damaged ship, he realized that he could not repair it, nor could he use the Force to reach the oculus that led to the surface. So he set to work on removing the rubble from the ship using telekinesis and adding the rocks to a rubble pile he could climb to reach the surface. After he had completed his task, he entered the cockpit and retrieved his travel bag, which contained, among other effects, his lightsaber, a change of clothes, and a comlink, and also took Tenebrous's lightsaber and comlink.

    The problem I have with the story of the Sith is just one thing. The Sith did not get the same time to dedicated training like the Jedi did. Ok in the story it works but really the Sith would not be able to keep up with the Jedi because it would be impossible to to dedicate the same amount of time as the Jedi.

    Ah, at first this sounds like a bloody brilliant sadistic plan... _at first!_ But, unleashing some kinda pathogen like that would kinda be hard to control once it's released. (I'm making the assumption this force poison would be in an airborne form) Wouldn't they be taking a risk a little too big that they too _could_ be "cut"? {lab accident, stupidity, the wind changes direction ;) } I don't think this was _really_ well thought out! But, I guess as there are smart Sith, there must be dumb Sith. Addendum: I didn't like Plagueis at all, until I recently got back into the novels and now I think he's totally WIK! I neither like nor dislike Tenebrous from what I've read and heard, but I do think he didn't "get" how the force worked and therefore would never reach whatever his potential was.

    There was too many ways it could have fallen apart: 1.Natural or mechanical accidents like starship explosions killing both. 2. Weaker apprentices supplanting stronger masters though schemes and backstabbing. 3. Recently inaugurated Master dying before they have a chance of selecting new apprentice. Only way for it to make sense, is that Dark Side will personally provide some sort of "providence" to 2 Sith, because there are only two Sith to embody it.

    I like how all the artist renditions of Tenebrous have him wearing a respirator. He never wore one. The only time he wore one is when he went to the planet of Bal'demnic and go into a cave testing Cortosis ore. Other than that he didn’t wear one. Darth Plagueis didn’t wear one until about 30 years before his death because of a assassination attempt. Artist need to stop making Sith Lords with respirators….They all didn’t need them!

The moment you declare yourself a Dark Lord, someone is just gonna pick you up like a stick and throw you in a hole- *_YOU NEED TO EAT!_* The dark side is _very_ taxing! You should have seen my *last* sith apprentice, now there was a force user with an appetite!" Sidious: - growls - * grips fork * *"Oh!* *_GO AHEAD!_* Embrace the dark side against me, _see what I do to you!"_

    Decades? Or even centuries? Pleeeeease, make it make sense. Tenebrous had a Twi'lek Master. For how long? Make master Mundi's "millenium" statement be the dumbest statement ever uttered. I am hearing that there was a huge gap of time between Bane and Tenebrous's Master. Then I'm hearing that Tenebrous schemed to have Plagueis birthed. Plagueis was HOW old when Palpatine killed him? The truth is there were plenty of Sith during that fabled millennium, wasn't there? They just laid low and sometimes never got to amount to anything because they couldn't contain their greed, right?
