Well said! Price will always be a factor of course, but I put a lot of time and effort into understanding how products work and will integrate before I buy, and I'm happy to spend extra (within reason) to get what I want, not simply what some manufacturer thinks is best for them

Haven't really dealt with their customer service end but, I've been purchasing ThirdReality products because they are relatively cheap and they use standard AAA's instead of the coin cells most use. I've been really happy with both performance and battery life of all their products including the motion sensor, the contact senor, the button and their Zigbee/BLE wall plugs. All have worked flawlessly in my HA install.

WHOA FINALLY! YES! I wrote my own software to make Flic buttons do double-long-press, triple-press, and triple-long-press. They refused to add the other press types no matter how much I asked. It's not like people have to use them; and it's janky when it's not programmed in the button because of Bluetooth latency. I can't believe there's a button that does it! Sadly, it doesn't look nice like Flic buttons and doesn't easily attack to the wall :(.

This is good advice. I generally put price high on my list when selecting a product, but it is not the most important. I love inovelli switches, I have about 10 of them.. unfortunately, I need another 15 to complete my house.. and for the last year, stock has been non existent.. so now when I pick devices, I now have to include availability over the long term… it’s sad, but I’ll probably replace my inovelli switches since having different types of switches that function differently drives my wife nuts.

Collecting the user data without making clearly visibe that this happens and what is collected, how long it will kept etc is a serious crime in my opinion and should be forbidden immediately. I mean a company who produces gas boilers can't also just produce something and sell it, there are serious rules that the company should obey with. And the governments needs to regulate the whole technological industry asap!

I cant seem to get this setup properly with ESPhome presense detection. I'm hoping to get a 'distance' sensor (like in the video @1:18) from all my EPS32 nodes in the house to the shelly Blu. I got the service uuid from the logger from esphome as '0x0006'. And configured the ESPhome sensor: # RSSI based on service uuid - platform: ble_rssi service_uuid: '0006' name: "keys ${node_name} rssi" but it doesn't work (always shows as unknow). Anyone could give me a hint as to how to fix this?

Why choosing KZread video titles carefully matters: because the current one is really unwieldy (IMHO). I would suggest: - Careful choice of smarthome devices (really) matters(!) [bracket content optional] - It matters: Why and how to carefully choose your smarthome devices - Choose carefully: smarthome devices, how and why - Smarthome devices: mindful selection matters (ending there, or with "!", or with ", here's why") ...or something along those lines.

Shelly... they lost me when after enthusiastic reviews of their products I bought, among other of their stuff, 32 Shelly Duo RGBW GU10 color light bulbs on some Black Friday or similar deal about 1.5 years ago. I didn't care about RGB, but they had a better price than the white spectrum-only ones. The web offer at that time mentioned 2700K-6500K white range, but on the box (and in the app) they had 3000K-6500K. In reality, perceptually, it may be in the range of 4000K-6500K (warmer white is barely noticeable). As we prefer warm light at evenings it was hardly acceptable, still I installed over twenty of them to see if we get used to it (besides, as we bought old house, already installed light bulbs were even worse). Btw I just checked their website, and now it states RGB + 4000K white, but they still can't get their other numbers right - in the description, they mention it's a 5W light bulb, but in the specification, it becomes RGB 9W, "natural white" 9W with 800 lm (?!) (mine say 400lm, 5W on the box). Moreover at that time I used them with regular switches, and they randomly lost configuration and needed to be set up again (often going to blue light mode to additionally irritate my other half), and it was not range issue, as I'm also talking about ones 2-4m from the access point (neither wifi device saturation as I had
