Luka is injured and Thunder is employing a collapsing defense clogging the lanes whenever Kyrie touches the ball. It's up to Kidd and his staff to devise strategies to free up some lanes for Luka and Kyrie on offense.

This what they said about Luka is exactly my problem with Jamal. Jamal just needs to show everyone how bad he feels, and it's so distracting for other players who have to babysit him, encourage him to shoot, to “hang in there” and so on. It's interesting how Adam is seeing that with Luka but not with Jamal.

Agreed with a lot of the takes. Yeah Luka stop moaning and save your energy for playing. I mean that much shouting might actually sap your energy 1-2% and certainly saps your emotional energy. At elite level it’s enough. I don’t think sga overtakes Luka in mvp, well he might do but sga is older than Luka already so I don’t quite get that take? It’s not like sga is up and coming. Next season whoever does best will be mvp. Simple. Think next season presuming the mavs don’t spiral into self destruction, they should be good next season and maybe luka will be able save a bit more for the play offs. Okc and Minnesota will be better also obvs. Luka could do with losing a few kgs/pounds next season and see how he reacts to current events. How he reacts next season will define him more than how things are right now and that goes for everyone! He does need to just play and forget about fouls and all the extraneous stuff - main thing is win and all else is secondary.

I may have miscounted... Tell me if this is wrong: The regular season record for Thunder vs Mavericks is 5-1. I see no reason for all this Maverick optimism. I'm not going to make a rash prediction about tonight. But it has been interesting watching the national media try to figure out the Thunder. Dallas is going to have to adjust their defense. They have made a out out of shutting down the Thunder at the rim.. When SGA started taking advantage of this and showed the league his outstanding midrange game it was not a surprise for those of us who have been paying attention to the Thunder. You underestimate Luka's injuries as well. I don't think he has another gear to give. Add that to the defense that Lu Dort has consistently played all season long and Luka has very little left in his tank by the end of the game. The Thunder held the Pelicans under 90 points (!) in two of the four games they swept. And the Pelicans only broke 100 once. Their defensive performance in this series with the Mavs is not a suprise.

Mavs fan here Luka is playing with a different mentality. We don’t know enough about which of his two injuries are hurting his lift. Otherwise he moves fine-ish. On defense he’s sublime and there’s no doubting that. His overall numbers were impressive but his scoring and timing were the main issue. Sure Kyrie also just happened to disappear at his exact “cookin time” and THATS why we lost. Losin by free throws? Sure.. but that game seemed like Mavs were up by 20 for most of it, the whole series is fuckin weird. NBA is scared of a 5 game series so here we go again.

Mavs just shot horribly from the free throw line last night. That's the actual difference in this game. If they had shot 80%, they would have won going away. Kudos to Thunder for the gutsy win, but it was really, truly that one simple thing: free throws. Thunder shot 95% from the line, but had fewer field goals and way fewer 3's made than the Mavs, who shot 50% from the line.

I wasn't sure when it was going to happen but I knew inevitably it would and that is JKIDDand his coaching. I have no earthly idea what he was thinking but I can tell you the mistakes were too numerous to list here. Yes Luka and Kyrie both laid eggs and yes the missed FTs alone cost them a win they'd earned for roughly 45 minutes. But that comeback by OKC against a Dallas defense that had been absolutely suffocating up until the last 8 minutes or so was precipitated by JKidds decision making ie; rotations, offensive game plan. Who he chose to have on the floor and who he chose to run the offense through was a critical factor in the late collapse. I laughed and couldn't believe they extended him before the series was over much less the playoffs. I knew it was just a matter of time before Kidd got in his own way and cost them a game or two or worse a series. I still, like Tim and many others, that the Mavs can and should still win this series but I'm doubtful it goes beyond that. I still can't stand JKidd as a coach and his insane affinity for THJ. Not having Maxi and his D hurts big time but the defense wasn't the problem. ONLY Luka and Kyrie can bring this team back up after that loss and it will have to be, as usual, in spite of JKidds coaching.

And this wouldn’t be a huge problem if it weren’t for the fact that he’s taking 20+ shots in these games. Lastly, the dude needs to get his head right. He is mentally too weak and he is way too valuable to mentally check out of games like he’s been doing. He’s looked lost out there and he’s low-key been the weak link on his team. I say that because he spent a stretch between the 3rd-4th quarter where he touched the ball exactly 0 times over the stretch of like 8 min of play..... How in your own house can you just be so passive?? Kyre was awful shooting last night, and then in a clutch moment when OKC is showing their lack of experience in the moment, you brick a free throw??? really?!?!? Luka is not built , thus far from what I've seen. hes not built to go over the hump. to me hes more James Harden than Larry Bird.. Yeah, Luka is just not playing well, plain and simple. Is it his knee and ankle? Probably, but here's the thread for this series so far: "Luka won't continue to have this kind of night". That was the talking point in Game 1. That was the talking point in Game 2. That was the talking point in Game 3. And now it's the defense for him after his _worst_ game in Game 4. So...when, exactly, is he going to pop off? 'Cause it sure seems like everyone's putting a lot of faith into something that hasn't had any return. When PJ Washington has been your best player for the last 3 games, on a team with Irving and Doncic, it's not about "Oh they're just having an off night" _every game._ At some point you just have to accept that OKC has been locking them down the entire time in a series that has been all about the defensive output for both teams.

@@manz7860 to each her his own! he's my age. And I'm talking about why is it completely bald on the side like that? It's one thing if you can't grow hair in that area obviously. But if that's not the case, a fade like Adams makes more sense. Maybe I don't know the current styles

Luka is clearly way more injured than Jamal. Look at any of his highlights from the regular season and look at how much better he was moving. The only proof I even need is how badly he is playing. He's given me no reason to believe he's magically become guardable
