Thanks for the recommendation on switching to Edge TX and ELRS - I made the jump yesterday and it was *so* easy to setup on both ends (besides soldering the wires to the tiny breakout pads on the FC) to setup. It took me less time to install, flash and bind both the TX and RX than it took me just to bind my TX16S to an XM+ RX! EdgeTX makes my TX16S feel like a brand new radio with all the new features and even the performance gain.

Not only do I fall into the “I enjoy building” camp but I like how I cover the motor wires better. I also like to have some quads with motors in the lower recommended Kv rang and some in the higher range. With bind & flys, you get two choices for different cell counts. I do think BNF quads are a good way to get started.

I've been looking forward to this review for weeks, and it didn't disappoint! Amazing review video Joshua! The mark five is a quad I'd like to buy, but it is a little pricey. The discussion on whether building is more cost effective anymore got me thinking. Maybe building a five inch on a budget is like building a tinywhoop now, it's cost effective to buy a BND with some parts you want and use the parts to build your own five inch.

The similarities to the QAV-S JohnnyFPV edition are pretty remarkable :D Honestly though I'm glad to see an RTF company taking a design seriously even if they are taking heavy inspiration from other designs. They even made some nice tweaks in this one along the way. Definitely well executed. My only complaint would be they added a lot of weight in the process.

Purchased this quad the day after I saw this review which was exactly 2 days after the video was released. Bought the frame kit and I built it myself, with my fav components. 2207 2021kv 6s. Disappointed to find out it takes only 30x30(I might drill some holes in the extreme case). Anyway the build is solid and designed in great details. Weird how it says had front arms and rear ones, which to me they look similar…mheee. Been bashing it a lot, put it under my usual stress test and so far I’m liking it. Also great it takes 5.2 prop size and motor to motor gives such a nice flying experience that I love. Highly recommend to try this quad

Before buying my geprc smart 35 4 months ago, I was so into dji mavic family and video recording. But then I saw some freestye videos and I said to my self I want to fly like that. So I entered this nice new hobby of mine and thank you Joshua for these videos. I learn something new each time. I have no electronic skills but learned alot from yout videos. In the end, I just want a drone and fly it. So maybe I think this Mark 5 is on my list. If I want to sound poetic, I believe that building a drone gives some deeper connection with it. You are a proud owner of your build. But if you just want to fly it, dont bother just buy it and a lot of spare parts, I learned that the first day when propelers and arm broke. And btw you have fans in Slovenia.

I would say BNF quads are a godsend for countries which do not have a sizable FPV community. Living in Singapore, we do not have a huge selection of retailers from which to purchase parts to build from scratch and parts selection is also limited. You can argue we can purchase them overseas, but the shipping costs and currency conversions (especially with costly living standards) would simply make scratch builds too costly for beginners. Anyway, just want to thank you for your videos. Just started out in FPV with the Cetus X and simulators and already ordered this in 6S analogue to go further!

Love the obstacles!! 26:46 accurate. It's just not cost effective to build a quad anymore unless you start accumulating spare parts and multiple quads due to crashes. Even then, even frames have gone up in price... Some hitting $100. You really end up paying 25 percent more when you build your own, and then you have to deal with the "did I do this right" question.

I replaced the default FC with a Mamba Mk4 F722 App, since GEPRC somehow had not added the barometer and it also just didn't want to work with the SpeedyBee app. After a crash I burned the ESC and replaced it with a Mamba F40. I destroyed 2 LiPos on crashes and have yet to kill a motor, but the frame just tanks crashes at 50kph into concrete like a champ. If I need to replace the motors, I'd definitely get some RCinpower GTS V3 2107 Plus' or Wasp Majors.

I have both the Roma V2 and the Evoque. I got the Roma first (late summer 2021) and my wife bought me an Evoque for Christmas. I have to say out of the box the Evoque was the better drone but I have tuned and gotten my Roma V2 so synced to the way I like to fly, I prefer it over the Evoque. The Roma feels punchier on throttle. The Evoque is great and looks great late evening (LEDs are gorgeous and configurable...running a fixed Seattle Seahawks ble/green theme right tnow. I did swap the camera for a Runcam Phoenix 2 (not a JB) as the default camera was terrible in variable light conditions. 600mW VTX has not been as much a liability as I thought though Roma is still better. I like the Mark 5 but with the cost and I don't need another 5" will keep me away. If they make a 3-3.5" of it, I am there day one as I love the basic design.

Should mention that this is also the debut of the GepRC expressLRS RX! So you can get this BNF with eLRS.

Very interesting! Now get another call and try the HGLRC Sector 5 ;-) I might've bought the HD version of your set and build it but it was not available and had no GPS...

building your own and then customizing the thing would give you the best of both worlds really.

I have built quads from the ground up before. But yes, BNF is cheaper. What is good about it you also get a nice base starter pack to build on. Add on, change things and fix. There is still that fun.

12:10 use hockey grip tape. stretchy, very strong adhesive, holds in warm and cool temps, easy to remove.

I have lock-tight only at the bottom screws in my mark4 frame. I always open from top, never had to unscrew bottom screws.

Good video mate. How does the GEPRC Mark 5 compare to the Nazgul5 V2 or Nazgul Evoque?

if you smoke a flight controller doing the build there is a good reason for bind and fly just whish there was a spec building company like with pc's so you can get cross company parts.

Hey Josh, thanks for the video. I wanted to note your explanation of the metal front end is a little off. The metal part’s manufactured and post-processing will result in it being more brittle / stiff or soft ‘ bendable. Composites also have variations.
