Two seasons ago he had great receivers, but unfortunately the top two got injured going into the national championship. Bama had to play Georgia in the natty with Slade Bolden as the best receiver lol. If not for receiver and o-line injuries, the national championship could have looked a lot more like the SEC championship.

Been following the guy since high school I love how he plays the position. The difference between him and Shroud is that you're going to win more games you probably shouldn't have otherwise with Bryce. Kid's got ice in his veins. Not saying Shroud can't consistently clutch close games, but from what I've seen Bama avoided multiple 3+ loss seasons because of Bryce, it's weird that when he got the reins at QB Bama's receiver room took a big dip in depth which a lot of teams are happy that happened cause if he had that 2017-2020 receiver room no one would come close to what he could've done there.

great breakdown. also what's amazing with young, given his short stature he doesn't get many passes knocked down or tipped. i remember during an interview he said that he sets his release high for this very reason and always looks for the open passing lanes even when the pocket is collapsing.

Bryce could have won a second Heisman and a national championship this past season if his receivers hadn’t been such a weakness. His leading receiver was a runningback. This was the worst group of receivers at Alabama since the Saban era began. There were a lot of highly rated recruits, but most of them ended up underperforming then transferring as soon as the season was over.

Excellent video. The stats you showed at 4:46 are a bit misleading without taking into account that Bryce Young's average time to throw was 3.02 seconds, which is 9th in the country. This means he also invites his own pressure by holding on to the ball, which inflates his pressure % statistic. Not all pressures were his fault, but both metrics relate to each other.

Swap out "7 on 7" for "the modern NFL" and you're bang on. Thew modern NFL is still a brutal contact sport. And the pass rushers are after and hit harder than in the SEC. DBs in the modern NFL are faster and smarter than even the great and powerful SEC. Young's mid-ish arm is also going to be exposed on long throws that require a lot of power to beat NFL DBs. He may be a more dynamic Tua. When healthy. The best ability is availability.

I still think there's a couple sleeper QBs in this draft that'll go in rounds 3 and 4 instead of the top 5. I'm (obviously) not an NFL GM but give me a good decision maker. Arm ability is nice. Being "mobile enough" is nice. But Purdy, and a bunch of other smaller school QBs, whose O-Line/WRs/TEs will never play in the NFL, have proven is that if you can find someone who makes good decisions, and gets the ball out in less than 4 seconds, you can be successful in the NFL. With all due respect, Bryce had 7 seconds on that 1st play you showed before he encounters pressure. Its not "broken" its just that you can't block someone... forever.

@@dereksmidl8352 Yeah, but in hindsight you’d take Wilson much earlier than that. And Kyler has been relatively successful, a ROTY, a playoff appearance, and 2 Pro Bowls. He’s not perfect, there’s a lot of other young QBs I’d take over him, especially with his injury that could affect his athleticism (which would be disastrous for him). But that’s not a bad resume so far in the grand scheme of things.

They're human beings and they're never going to be perfect and will definitely not win every game they play at pro level. Lets see if you'll have the same energy when he doesn't have a similarly high level of success with the Panthers.
