When the aim is winning, compassion and empathy go out of the window. Ergo, the situation today. It all depends on what you are aiming at as to what the consequences will be.

Mass corruption in the EU, failing economies and soon to be bankrupt countries which the rich countries of the EU will need to bail out. Sooner we are out the better

You lefties think you can sweep the issue of immigration under the rug forever but Brexit proves that you factually can't. The people will make their voices heard and that's exactly what happened in June of 2016. It's also what has been happening in France (Le Pen getting to the last round of the presidential election), Germany (AfD becoming the largest opposition party), Italy (Matteo Salvini's League and M5S forming a coalition government), Sweden (the rise of the Sweden Democrats), Austria (Sebastian Kurz's People's Party forming a coalition government with the right-wing, eurosceptic Freedom Party), etc. Nobody wants attacks upon innocent people. People want control over their borders and thank God they are exercising that right.

@@dc8890 Boy, you are full of crap. Cummings tricked the UK into voting leave and succeeded. The EU will deal with it, as with the extreme right wing

He went to public school, daddy has got a farm and he even received EU subsidies himself. He just talks with fancy words and silly management speak but has no understanding at all of the white working class. The reason we voted leave was due to being sick of being patronised by the likes of him.

This guy didn't affect my vote, neither did the stupid bus nor the Russians. I'd made my mind up years ago, as I expect had many others. I wasn't interested in anything anybody said or claimed during the referendum campaign or since it. I want out of the EU and I don't care what it costs to achieve it because freedom has no price.

That is simply wrong. You have to be able to afford freedom. Freedom is closely tied to economic well being. It's helpful to look at extremes in such a case - I am not saying that people will starve to death in the UK, but what happens if someone is not able to support his family, pay mortgage, etc. However, I would not only reduce the EU to an economic area. Read up on the history of the EU. Also, if you think you are truly free after Brexit you are naive - in a world where Russia is gaining power in the Ukraine and Middle East, the US is appearing to spiral out of control with an outrageous idiot and China dominating the world order very soon, it is simply naive to believe that you stand a better chance against them rather than joining forces with your European friends??? Is everything perfect with the EU? Absolutely not! Many good and valid arguments were raised by the Leave Campaign, but the solution is not to go you own way rather to fight with you European friends to make it better. I've worked and lived in many countries across the world. There is no freer place than the EU in the world! I am scared about the populism and the people that voted for Brexit will be the one that are hurt the most. The whole thing will also happen like an avalanche: it starts small (e.g. house prices have been stable and/ dropped slightly) but the real bad stuff will be felt a few years down the line. You have no idea how hard this is going to hit you.# I am Swedish and have been in London working in banking for over 20 years now and finance is typically the first sector that is hit. But that is not a problem for us or me. I'll move to Frankfurt, Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam or Zurich - or APAC or the US if I so want to. Ok, I will take a bit of a hit on my property prices London, but I'll survive. What about the people in the country who don't have triple major MBAs or PhD degrees. Think back how UK's situation was in the 70s and 80s - is that what you want???? You statement is pure ignorance!

First of all let me put our there my subjective view of freedom: no human life is "free" at this point, only an animal in an untouched jungle would technically be free. This aside, right now you can experience your "Freedom" as you call it in 28 countries thanks to EU membership, at the cost of around £8bn worth of net contribution from behalf of the UK. Once out of the EU you will be able to experience your current "freedom" while in the UK and lose access to the benefits you had while part of the EU. Technically, your "freedom" will be narrowed down to simply your own homeland , a very small piece of land when considering the whole world. Again technically, British people sold their "freedom" towards those countries back If anything. This is a step back freedom-wise for your persona, so your comment feels ignorant and illogical to me. Feel free to argue bigger visions if you wish but I'm afraid you'd be in politics if you were able to successfully do so?
