Why Botswana Is the Fastest Growing Economy Ever
Botswana is the fastest growing economy in history, But how could that possibly be the case? Why is it so fundamentally better off than all of those that surround it? and Is the miraculous growth just too good to be true?
Miraculously there appears to be a single extraordinary exception to the narrative of poverty in Africa. Straddling the Kalahari Desert in the interior of southern Africa lies the fastest growing economy for the last 50 years. Botswana for all intents and purposes looks identical to its neighbors and this is why in 1965 it was the 7th poorest nation on earth. But over the subsequent decades Botswana has maintained a political structure that's integrity rivals those in Europe, lifted a vast majority of its population from abject poverty, maintained civil and national peace, and invested the revenues of its natural wealth into its future and its people.

Yes as Botswana even our stans on Ukraine war interesting Russia the first in diamond production is currently out of the game the more they continue the war the we can increase our market share. All this may not work if our leaders are selfish. But the war of Ukraine is giving us a strong chance. And how we invest is key our media is very weak and it's the main problem. To start a new industry without a strong media is to wait for failure in the highest sense. But I just a poor accountant who just trying to find a solution.

If i was a motswana, I would be asking my Member of parliament to support solar energy, half your country is desert, you could put loads of solar panels in the desert to generate electricity, this electricity could be exported to neighbouring countries to provide an income for Botswana, and it could easily enable a barter in drinking water in exchange for electricity
As a Motswana, living in Botswana, i wonder who's doing our countries PR bc if you don't live in it, you would think this place is wakanda.. but its wild how the first presidents son ruined this place for a decade and now we have to kinda just, live with it..

This is a very good video. I've already liked and subscribed. I however would like to clarify a certain piece of information you gave. The chiefs didn't beg for protection. The British empire declared Botswana a protectorate in order to materialise their Cape to Cairo railway line as Germany and Portugal had taken Namibia and Mozambique over respectively, threatening to close that channel off. In fact, the chief of the Bakwena had to be convinced not to fight the British by the other chiefs because he felt that since they had been successful in keeping the Boers at bay then it would be no different.

may this country continue to be successful and be blessed by good politicians
Personally I always appreciate someone taking a somewhat deep dive into Botswana and studying it. But Websites, online studies and articles will never give a proper appreciation of any country. You need to talk top officials, then step on the soil like an ordinary citizen, talk to the ordinary Motswana, ride public transport, go to the villages, talk to the old men and women who know the Botswana of old, eat at street food outlets and try to make sense of what you are getting from various people of different levels of life. Then you will have a broad appreciation of Botswana not the picture the few elite can paint through data manipulation. But kudos on the video. Cheers
I commend this great coverage of our country 👏🏿this video has made me proud of my country 🇧🇼

I hope that it's in my lifetime Botswana is leading a bunch of Africa in and turning them from LDCs into Developing Countries and one of them can compete with Europe's best economies

No African country will ever compete with European countries. What Africans need to understand is that the game is rigged against them. The West controls market access, mining companies, regulatory bodies, world trade, and by and large decide who becomes president in most countries. If Africa shows signs of collectively getting wealthy, they will take actions against that. They want a poor Africa as a source of cheap raw material thay they need.

Indoor hydro/airo/aquaponic farming to feed all the people would hire a huge percentage of its citizens and could be the foundation to make it not only a develped nation but a very profitable one!

Botswana is one lucky diamond as its diamond reserve...A patriotic statesman over his selfish interest is so rare to be found in the world and I'm happy Botswana has it...

He was a son of a tribal king so a ready made benevolent custodian of the people.
Creating a big following as an educational youtuber is hard, but you've managed to get quite far. Your views will always be more than 10x your subscribers for the simple fact it's educational content, but that doesn't necessarily matter as KZread doesn't pay for subscribers. Keep it up lad.
