@@rameshgautam5873 yup, it not just about logic and reality , it about originality film making is just isn't About it. It just about how much your movie is having the substance . Like for cinematography how much its supports the story and how much its explored , for instance blade runner 2049 has one of my fav cinematography it is so well that you feel like its real. So now theres is world which doesn't has logic in our real life but it has logic in that world , that is how much its explored and thought that whats matter. In shape of water the theme of being love with a being which not the same form as you and you fell in love with it. That theme is so well explored it must be wierd for some people , some pepoles may feel that its disgusting. But its well explored and thoughtful , thats why it deserved. The feeling and character and cinematography and music and so many things like Atmosphere . It was greatly done . Thats why it won, it had something which was never done before , original idea.

@Eren Yeager No web series CANNOT get Oscar They have a complete different award show called the Emmys AND Oscar can be won by Indian film if it can compete with other foreign films It can be based on any genre BUT it is very difficult to make a full Indian movie with no nonsense and give pure non stop thrills throughout However you will be happy to know that Delhi Crime won the international emmy 48th edition Bottom line if its a good film/series and makes it to TOP 5 nominations Its a win in itself Rest depends upon the committee about who gets the Oscar/ Emmy Also Indian films can only compete in International category NOT best picture or best soundtrack etc Then it has to become a US film Just like Life Of Pi its a Indian story with indian cast with indian songs BUT its is a US movie and won Oscar similarly Slumdog Millionaire - Indian story Indian cast Shot In India BUT It is a US movie after all and still won oscar Hope this helped you

Infernal affairs, the original Hong Kong blockbuster, was insanely well known. Scenes in the departed were lifted entirely from the original. The movie was an insanely good watch though.

For pure content and acting plus great storyline, South Indian industry has come way far. I enjoy every bunch of their movies and what scenery and cultural values they present. RRR is great most recent example. Hats off!!!

same happened with recently oscar nominated Village rockstars ( an assamese movie). Director Rima das maam was asking for help for more screening but only few helped her. With her very limited budget, she performed really well but sadly couldn't make it to the podium.

Bollywood shamelessly sent Gully Boy for consideration in the foreign language nomination category and the Oscar jury immediately knew that it was a copy of 8 Mile. Bollywood is unnecessarily spending a lot of capital on movies , whose stories are known to their audience. Instead they should promote the content which is new and different from all others. Indian cinema have the capability to stand out differently , but unfortunately the content lags reaching the audience. And the movies which are of almost no sense are promoted to their uppermost level.

Most countries have a single movie industry and we've a multi movie industry - different language, culture etc. That's why partiality is bound to happen it's human nature. we have to become a bit neutral and value the content rather than focusing on context. I believe indian film federation sends mostly Bollywood film because of two things (Hindi and Money). Hindi - to represent Hindi as national language (Now do not start a language war on this, i respect all languages.). Money - as mentioned in the video film producer's might not be able to afford the screening costs. There are other reasons like unoriginal script, no global box office, less to no international collaboration, talent representation in international movies,

My kannada friends made me watch a recent kannada movie the other weekend. I was shocked beyond anything to find no songs, no love/romance story in it. The story went on for 2 straight hours and I barely took my eyes off the screen. It was something else to experience. Again, not the best movie Ive ever seen obviously, but still I felt like I got my 150 rs' worth in the theater. people should really start encouraging these type of movies, give them eyeballs, and in no time we would have awards rolling in. Its not like they cant step up the production, they just wont because they know this bare minimum will get them the profits they want. Movie is an artform, when you make a business model so sustainable out of an artform, you know its polluted from ground up
