I have massive respect for Foster. His videos were not the reason why Watford went down last season, it was just sheer incompetence from the ownership and just not having a good enough squad to stay up. It’s not like he’s recording private team meetings or showing anything confidential. He’s a proper professional who just so happens to be a charming and funny guy off the pitch. Blaming him for Watford’s demise is a bit cowardly

watford fans do understand that he is a lovely bloke who isn’t meaning anything bad. but when you’re getting battered week in week out, and your own goalkeeper who is one of the worst performers on the pitch is posting clickbait of you losing 5-0, it makes it a lot worse. it did genuinely contribute at least partly to the pretty toxic culture at the club that season, quite a lot of people in the club weren’t exactly fans of him sticking a camera in peoples faces after we were breaking the record for most home defeats in a row. obviously this was secondary to the incompetent leadership, and he clearly didn’t mean anything by it, but you can understand where the frustrations came from from us fans and the club in general

I bet there were Watford players out on saturday nights after being beaten, but does that get mentioned in the grand scheme of things when they were struggling... i bet it wasnt, but cause Ben was in what is now looked upon as the new limelight or easiest way of seeing what people are up to, he got and gets the negative crap thrown at him. Despite being one of the 3 biggest football teams from Germany, they are bottom of the Bundesliga for the second time in three seasons and it seems like they will be relegated again. Hotels before home and away games..... lot clubs brought that in cause they had players that they couldn't trust to behave the day and night before games. I hate to imagine how much clubs pay for hotels etc when really is there any need, same with flying to games. Thats why the epl especially ruined football for many, the players and clubs are so far removed from the standard man on the street who wants to take his kids along on a saturday afternoon, where these clubs all they care about is money and trying to get to the epl to make more money.

It’s quite simple really. The Watford fans loved the content while they was winning and at that point it had no effect on his performance. But once they started losing the whole thing suddenly became a “distraction”. Had they done well in the prem no one would’ve cared he was making videos.

Ironic how nobody complained about him vlogging when they went up to the prem, but as soon as they were relegated there was a problem.
As a Watford fan, I am still a fan of Ben Foster, however his KZread had a time and place, it really worked behind closed doors as it gave an insight into life as a football player, of course we all enjoyed the videos as we were doing well, even into the next season they started off absolutely fine, like the boys from DNSYE said that 5-0 hammering from Liverpool was the turning point, the club was a mess and it came across like Ben didn't care about trying to stay up and it seemed as if when we got smashed "it's just good content" other stuff like going through his fpl team with players playing against Watford being in there and getting points didn't help. I still like the guy and think his podcast is fantastic, but that season he severed a lot of the relationship he had with many Watford fans because of the way he conducted himself off the field, making silly football videos with the sidemen or Chrismd when in reality he needed to be switched on and in the mindset to help us stay up. All in the past now, Great video Viz.

Superb video Liam. As a Watford fan at the very start I thought him doing KZread was a brilliant idea as we were in lockdown and I felt very lucky to see behind the scenes at Watford and watch my goalie do videos but around 6 months later his attitude was fully on KZread as when we lost to Swansea in January 2021 which was a promotion 6 pointer at the time Lowe decided to celebrate in his go pro and foster then came out and asked if people wanted it in the video as a Watford fan this made us all furious as like I say we’ve lost a big game and our goalie is focused on KZread. He was then dropped however around September 2021 he was back in the team and in October he invited paddy The Baddy to the Liverpool game and then when Liverpool scored paddy the baddy celebrated on the Watford end and as you know no matter who you are or why your there you can’t celebrate in opposition end. He was then chucked out and went to social media to say how bad of a club we were all that started because Ben foster invited him also to bear in mind he had no Salah in his fantasy team. Watford then asked Ben Foster to stop the blogging which he didn’t what seems like a nice bloke on KZread but really seems like an arrogant bloke aswell saying “he’s been in this game to long to know what he can and can’t do” if the club say you can’t do something then you can’t that’s his boss. Despite all this no real hate intended towards him just came around to me as a stubborn arrogant player

Really didn’t have a problem with Bens content when he kept it to the confines of his own day in the life. He would post his own personal stuff at the start which I found very interesting. But it was when he would start match day vlogs and sticking his camera in teammates faces and upload rather clickbaitey titles after a devastating loss that I genuinely believe played a role in our slump in form in the championship and our relegation the second time round and why so many of our fanbase turned against him. A lot of people forget that footballers have lives outside of football. Ben foster didn't really do anything different to what every other footballer does day-to-day. He just brought a camera with him to record it. Footballers can play fpl too and 90% probably do. You can argue that him filming football challenge videos was bad but players do media days like that all the time for sky, jd etc. Just because he made podcasts on the side doesn't mean that he didn't try on the pitch. But fans would see that 3 days before a defeat to Newcastle or Leeds etc ben posted a video and therefore blame him because he wasn't focused on the build up to the game. But it's fine for outfield players to put in bad performances if they don't post videos. It doesn't make sense to me really.

To be honest i like how ben is thinking for HIS future and tbf he could be doing worse things.
To be honest I do wish ben foster continued his football career
I think it's naive to think that it took anything away from his football. He have addressed this himself many times, and said that the worst thing for him is to get into his own head and think to much about the game beforehand. He have so much experience that the best thing for him is to go on muscle memory and reflex. And how do you not get into your own head? You stay busy. Another thing I want to say is that I think people should view footballers more as humans than they do now. Foster knows that he has to stay positive even though they're losing, both for the benefit of his team, and for his own mental health. Being angry for him staying positive is implicitly wishing him and his team mates to have it worse and to feel bad. So, all in all I do understand than some fans might would be annoyed by it, but I do also think that Foster is a trailblazer when it comes to humanizing the footballer, and I honestly hope to see more footballers do this. And yes, I would love for someone on my team to do this.

Prime Example why Pros mostly don't like either Fans or Media. Let them have Fun ffs.
Love his channel
It could never work long term. He was employed by Watford to play football and not to make videos. I could see any employer be sympathetic to a one off video but, week after week , is a different proposition. Then there the copyright situation. TV companies pay a lot for football rights. When they have a player filming a subset of the match and making money out of it, is not going to work. He made the right decision. His media work is top quality. He could lose a lot by leaving it for a year.
That Watford statement seems totally nonsensical considering they seemed to have no issue with Foster doing it during a Promotion Campaign, which requires as much focused attention as any relegation scrap. Those videos made me more interested in Watford; a team I previously did spare much of a though for, but now I look out for when checking the league tables. just seemed like management pointing fingers to try distract from their own mismanagement
I would like to give a shoutout to one og footballer youtuber Lassi Hurskainen. Has been on yt for 16 years.

Love Ben Foster, Hate CyclingGK- common trend around the Rookery
I don't see any problem with Ben Foster (along with all other athletes) having a KZread channel to grow his audience. We all know that athletes operate on a limited timeframe (with their careers lasting around 5-10 seasons) and having ventures (business, vlogging, or anything in general) outside their respective sport would be a safety net that ensures them that if anything bad (like a career-ending injury) or if they fall out of favor, they have other means of generating income.

I don’t see a problem tbh. Just because he plays for the club you support doesn’t mean you can dictate his life off of the pitch. The club has given him a contract so Ben is entitled to play for them. If he decides to do KZread on the side then that’s none of the fans nor the clubs business. If they feel it makes him perform worse then drop him or terminate his contract but it’s clear they didn’t feel that would benefit the club. If you’re a fan then tough luck. It’s bens life. Vizeh I don't know if you will see this but please do one on Brian Clough
Ene of the day its his life let the mad do what he wants if he is having fun who cares
Memphis depay and his music
James Rodriguez?
Fickle fans having a pop at him for making those videos are what I hate about football fans. He gave them a service to see more about their own football club that turned neutrals into Watford fans too and he got other people to run the videos on matchdays when they were in the Premier League being totally professional but people still gave him shit even though he was actually quite good for Watford last season
people take soccer way too serious, they see players have a bad game and then ask "why is he eating dinner with his family smiling after such a bad loss?" i dont think foster having a youtube channel suddenly makes him unable to play, his team was shit and it didnt matter who was in net they werent surviving
He should resign for West Brom with our current goalkeeping situation. He could literally play with a go pro in his hand and I would take him.

@@Vizeh I think so he’s definitely a West Brom legend. One of my favourite players ever
Not Fosters fault Watford went down, its a team game and not just down to one player. They just weren't good enough that season.
