Spitting straight facts mate; the golden years are past us. Man I'm getting nostalgic just thinking about booting up my 360 and completing classic campaigns, looking forward to trying new pathways to complete the missions and new challenges. But as you said there's only a certain amount of times we can keep playing them on MCC. I miss bungie :(

Halo 4 had a good story, multiplayer sucked. Halo 5 story sucked had Blue Team atleast, but multiplayer was fun especially Warzone and actual obtainable free armor/weapon skins. Halo Infinite forgettable story, really good multiplayer but NO CONTENT

But it did get better but at a cost of the player base at launch. Halo infinites story is forgettable like halo 4-5. Multi-player is barely good, same old repetitive maps, doesn't feel like halo. Has no content and the content that has come out came out too late and is not remembable whatsoever. Please cut the bullshit. Tired of it.

Hilariously, prior to the full release 343i admitted that it’s not enough and that they’ll add “another form of progression” (with the Daily XP thingy being a “temporary fix” in the meantime). But…. Over a year later? No fucking word. Give up, they’re gonna “fix” it in like 7 years when no one cares anymore. I’ve uninstalled the game back in Feb, I refuse to play it anymore.

I feel the same about the two things that have defined my whole life since childhood: halo and pokemon. Both are just soulless husks of what they used to be. Both turned into money printing dogshit breeds that try to appeal to a „broader audience“ (i hate this term so much). Its just sad man. I have moved on in pokemon at least but having to accept that halo is finished, too will be very hard for me. Also i was about to watch the tv show and did try to avoid reviews and spoilers, but eventually i heard about quan han, master chief sex scene and chief running around without a helmet and can already tell: yep that shit is not halo

After watching the first episode I knew it was nothing about Halo at all they completely disrespected the franchise. Every single character is completely different, there is no logic in the show at all, and the characters are poorly written. The show and Infinite taught me that Halo lost itself and became something different.

Fucking “broader audience.” If I ever hear any announcement stating that a games being made for the broader audience I automatically know it’s gonna suck. Why did these developers forget that you should design the game for your FANS, and they will bring the wider audience in with their passion! But no, 343 having the single biggest gaming community on the planet wasn’t enough, no they needed MORE AND MORE. Pretty ironic considering everything they’ve done to broaden the audience has actually pushed people away… so fucking depressing, don’t think I can ever truly forgive 343 for this.

The campaign mods are my saving grace for Halo, with all honesty. I like seeing people make what they wished they could have in Halo since they were kids. Not to mention mechanic reworks that really make the campaigns a real banger. But it's not like mods can be Halo's life, most fans don't care about mods, they care about new additions/campaigns and finally having non-broken multiplayer. They'll help sustain the more hardcore fans, but...that won't be a lot in the long run with how things are going.

@@caseyhall2320agreed. Now that I think of it, halo infinite has similarities with Red Dead 2’s multiplayer. Both had promising starts, but both suffered from infrequent release dates of new content. Oh, and both had greedy devs who made it a chore to buy stuff for your character.

Halo fan games are starting to pop up

I've been playing halo games since the OG Xbox release and I couldn't agree more with your sentiment. Its broken my heart multiple times at this point and I kept hoping like alot of people. Looking at the way the God of War games have grown and matured over the last couple years has made it even worse. I remember arguing with school friends about Kratos vs Master chief. Who was the better protagonist. But in 2023 kratos and his character development has clearly won. They've taken a decades old franchise and made it into something fresh that can stand on it's own and feel respectful to the games that came before. It is very very clear to me now that 343 just isn't capable of growing the franchise into something we can love.. they just keep dropping the ball and dont seem to understand what made halo great. It truly is a shame.

I know how you feel man, things can look pretty dismal because of the lack of content all fans and the community can enjoy, but the best thing I always remember is that what keeps Halo alive and interesting is all the Unique, Original and innovative ideas and add ons that we as the community creates together, original short films in the Halo universe and original ideas are what keeps bringing excitement to this universe and series for me

This sorta sucks to say but I feel like this helped me really get into a lot of other franchises and games I never really looked at or considered as much before.

That was me back when Halo 5 came out. I was shocked at how bad its campaign was, even worse than 4 and that was already a dogshit campaign. But it did get me to build a PC and try out a bunch of other franchises whereas previously I just played Halo. Learned I really liked RPGs and strategy games for example (Halo Wars doesn't count.)

Modding community is at it's strongest with the release of modding tools, one of the top modders called 2023 the golden age of halo modding, just because infinite is trash doesn't mean we won't see a revival of the mcc games.

@@rezboifrybread Mods are totally accessible these days it's getting easier and easier. Most sh!t is already on the steam workshop it's as simple as clicking subscribe like you would on youtube. There's more on the nexus which is only a couple more steps. It's not like the old days where getting sh!t to work together was a tedious grind, these days it's too easy. Get involved if you want more out of halo.

If Halo Infinite had an invasion game mode with playable brutes I would play it every day

The modding scene for MCC is kicking off pretty well. Steam Workshop makes things way more accessible. It adds freshness to the older games that nostalgia can't do. Not only are the old games complete but mods add freshness that keeps me playing. But overall yes I'm done with 343 eras Halo they killed it for me and consistent failure at all levels. Story, Multiplayer, Media, good faith, respect EVERTHING. In hindsight it is really sad that games released decades ago with mods makes me more excited then big budget 343 Industries.

Halo is so rooted in the early 2000s genre of gaming. Something you can't really force in this time of our generation. But because of Halo, it spawned modern games. Think about it. Halo is the first game that has a two-weapons-only system. It revolutionized gaming. The least we can do is just play the original campaign because nothing will ever replace that warthog ending, the story, adventure and what have you. Halo ce released 2001 development started in 1997 so 3 years halo 2 released 2004 and started development in 2002 halo 3 2007 and development took place in 2005 which make each release 2-3 years from each other how does a company that literally had the gaming industry in their hands take longer and longer to release “oH ItS BiGgEr aNd bEtTeR” No each release from three has become worse and more and more like every fps game

Still waiting for a Halo: High Charity horror game, where you play as one of the ODST's in Halo 2 after the dreadnought leaves. We could explore the Covenant holy city and see it turn into a flood hive. Just feel like we need a palette cleanser.

As much as I loved Halo in the past, he's completely right. Halo is falling apart and nothing can fix it. It's done, Halo is finally killed. Not by some new "Halo Killer" fps, but by the developers themselves. It's sad when even the content creators who loved the series are saying "Screw this I'm done" but that's just how it is. Halo is dead and I'm not sure if I can play Infinite again even when the new season drops.

I honestly think if Bungie still around Halo, they would’ve tanked like how they did when they left Halo. Bungie were losing passion for Halo and were starting to hate it after Halo 2 came out.

Would of rather had a Halo 6 that ACTUALLY continued the story and went into depth with Blue team and had crazy missions against the banished not just a boring Farcry open world hub. They had 5 plus years to make an amazing game/story

During the part where you talked about the Halo BR, I believe it is Certain Affinity, not Creative Assembly, that is working on the rumored game. Other than that, I really agree with everything you've said, it's depressing being a Halo fan now.

God, 3 years ago I got my girlfriend into halo when we moved in together. We played mcc everyday and stayed up all night playing co op side by side om weekends. There's been times we played till we both passed out during a mission. I got her super hyped over infinites release and she was reading alot about the lore. Then infinite came out and flopped, I wish I could go back to enjoying my favorite game with her but man we're both so fucking burnt out now. And I don't wanna replay the same missions I've already played thousands of times already and a 100 more with her.

It's also getting to a point where it's impossible to find a matchmaking game on MCC because the player base is so low and it's split between all the games and modes

"What do we have to look forward to?" The mods. The fan projects. The people who KNOW what Halo is, and are working on their own means of expressing that artistic vision. Which is more than I can say for a worthless development team who openly admitted that they DESPISE Halo and wanted to change it when they took charge of it. Anyway, see you at Halo 2 Rebalanced.

I am surprised there is still no games from marine perspective. I remember there was some old mod about playing as marine vs flood in halo ce or second halo I don't remember quietly. Would be such an awesome game, somewhat like l4d or idk. Just imagine, you as a common fragile marine and a group of your friends trying to make it through hordes of flood.

343 may have a roller coaster of a track record, but they have done plenty of good as well Like the updates to Halo 5 that actually listened to some feedback, keeping the weapon combo glitch cuz the fans thought it was fun, Halo wars 2 and especially Infinite's are styles and soundtracks, infinite's core gameplay, actually going and overhauling mcc into what it is today, outpost discovery I could keep going but I think I've gotten my point across, there's plenty of good, but it just feels like everyone is stuck in the past and just hating 343 cuz they're not Bungie and Halo's engine has always been spaghetti code, so the Slipspace engine is no different from the BLAM engine in that regard Doesn't help that 343 is currently understaffed since people are leaving (likely from either wanting to move on to a new franchise after working on it for about 10 year which is understandable, or possibly leaving cuz they feel demoralized from all the pessimism that the "fans" will constantly throw at them) And 343 can't bring any new people in cuz of Microsoft's hiring freeze thing they have going on, so 343 is basically having to work with a bullet in their foot and not enough hands on deck to get things done fast If they weren't passionate about the franchise then they'd probably just quit, but they're still here despite everything being against them, I'd be more angry at Microsoft for the early on hand holding, forcing deadlines, and them basically shackling 343 to be understaffed

I only started playing halo today, my first game being infinite, but even for me this was….crushing. I don’t even know anything about halo or the “golden days” but looking at all the comments saying things like “I loved booting up my 360 and starting a mission”, or “trying to be quiet so I don’t wake up my parents as I play with the boys” it just….god. If you want a dumbed down version of "the golden ages" well. I can only explain it as......the king of future, fast paced fps games. Halo in the older days was like call of duty mw2 2009 or cod bo2. It was a great game series and bungie went out with a bang. Halo reach.

Not being motivated to play my favorite game is something sad. I thought that I lost the interest because I grow up, but I just play Minecraft today with my friends I had fun. Halo is not in my interests anymore, I want to, I want to play and have fun, but I can’t. I just hope that they let infinite die, learn from their mistakes and move on to the next game, but I hope not be to old or lose the interest when that happen.

As a halo fan I feel every sentence that was stated. Currently the only thing that is keeping me playing halo is waiting for my younger sister to be old enough to play halo and so I can play it with her and have fun. However I fear that after we've played through all the halo games we have. I might lose my only motivation to play halo. However I'm going to make sure, I have the greatest time playing with my younger sister and who knows, I might still play halo and hold strong and wait for the next amazing halo release that will restore the halo community and as the great Arbiter, Thel' Vadaam once said at the end of Halo 3 when the Master Chief was presumed dead, "Were it so easy."

It is unfortunate but, you have to dissociate like you have with this franchise to remain sane. I'm back to post Halo 4 levels of indifference towards the series. Anyway, I am looking forward to the new vids :)

As long as 343 is in charge, Halo has no hope. Stepping away from the series and getting invested in DOOM, COD, Battlefield has been way better on my mental health. Maybe you could try talking about the Gears Of War games; I don't see nearly enough people talking about them.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for a beloved IP is to walk away. Maybe Halo gets better, maybe it stays shitty, but at least we wont be sitting around seething over and being let down by it anymore.

I think i'd rather have the franchise die than keep seeing 343 ruin it more.

I'm still interested in season 3 but I know it will probably only hold my attention for about a week given how little content there will be in it. At this point the community has produced content way faster and at a higher standard than 343 has.

2022 was actually the best year for classic Halo fans if you were paying attention and not still having hope for Infinite. The classic Halo 3 servers shutting down gave everyone one last batch of memories to create from their childhoods playing Halo the way it was meant to be played, the MoistCr1tikaL Halo 2 LASO deathless challenge brought classic Halo back to the forefront of popularity for awhile, both Halo 2 and Halo 3 deathless LASO challenges were completed for the first time, and Arby n The Chief just had their finale as well. If you are a strong 343 hater them Bonnie Ross leaving 343 def put smiles on some faces also. All in all, 2022 was the best year for actual Halo fans since Bungie left

You pretty much perfectly summed up my exact thoughts as to what I think about Halo now. Halo fans are done, they are experiencing a burn out before finally losing intrest. And you make a very valid point about Forge/Customs, sure they are fun (I love customs alot too) but when the rest of the game is still unfinished it comes off as more of an excuse for 343's lack of content. I stopped playing Infinite way back in March of last year and haven't played since. I just don't care anymore. MCC mods are pretty much the only things keeping intrested in halo, (yet I am currently stuck with a console and can't play any.) I still higly doubt that halo will make ANY major comeback, at least as long as 343 is incharge of it.

So, the desync issue. Here’s my take. It’s not just a technical problem. It’s also a player experience problem, but not in the way you would expect, because a multiplayer online game is a multiverse with intermingled timelines. Let’s say you’re in a fight with a dude’s who’s retreating. He heads for cover. You barely manage to connect the killing blow before he is behind cover. Success for Blue! Your one way ping to the server is ~80 ms because you are far away. The server takes a 10ms tick to compute all of the inputs from all of the players, get an average, and dispatch the new game state. The one way ping to the guy you shot is ~50ms. He is now behind the wall & safe. Success for Red! Both players experience are equally valid but mutually incompatible. Who’s experience do you prioritize? The technical desync problems have almost certainly been fixed at this point. I’ve noticed brief improvements initially after an update, followed by a decline in a few days. The game does not feel better, because of the decreasing player population is increasing the ping times of the players, increasing the conflicts of incompatible timelines, resulting in the same outcome. The only way for 343i to fix Infinite’s desync at this point is to increase the playerbase. Which given the game’s reputation, is going to be problematic. Nothing short of something like Cyberpunk’s experience with EdgeRunners will do that, and the Halo Show, unless they manage to make something exceptionally good out of the disastrous setup from Season 1, ain’t going to cut it. A damn solid campaign expansion or a positively revolutionary new MP mode is the only thing that might.

Desync is due to the fact that not enough people locally are playing, hence putting you in a futher away region. Alternatively it could be because 343 CBF with proper regions, you're probably stuck playing their main/cheapest server region rather then west coast, central, east coast. Like they had back in the day

Campaign DLC was never promised or even mentioned by 343. I agree with some points tho

I thought that the Source engine was filled with speghetti code, but if Halo Infinite is taking this long to update, it's gotta be a whole new level of spaghetti code, something so messy even the devs can't comprehend. It's sad being an fps fan in 2023 for anything that isn't boomer shooters. Call of Duty has been in the toilet for a decade, Battlefield looks like it's left for dead, and Halo is mismanaged and barren. I guess it's another year where I look for upcoming mods like I've had for Cod zombies and Half Life for years, because that's all what's left; the community.

I feel the energy. I'm just glad others share the sensation. Profit is the only motive to this franchise and the only way to change anything is by directly walking out and not giving a cent. Unfortunately, the Halo show will inevitably be easy money making because non-fans don't know what they're consuming beyond a idea. The reality is, there's more money to be found outside of us fans as "mass appeal" brings in more dough. That's why the passed 2 games preceding Infinite were directly intended for "broader audiences". It just means killing the fanbase off. Infinite tried to allure people back by trying to mirror Bungie era Halo but everyone saw through it the moment we were exposed to more of the game. Alas, I hope you find better enjoyment in other things. It's better just seeing these things as dead and moving on as stressing out continually is unhealthy.

Being a halo fan doesn't change, no matter what happens. It doesn't suck. It just sucks for Halo content creators. It's not like Halo is being peeled from my memory like an orange peel. I genuinely believe everyone needs to chill out, it's a video game. Sentimental value is great, but why not just get a crew together and play something? The game cannot die if you just play it. You can't say the "it's not fun cuz it's dead" excuse, since MCC is *almost* the original experiences + great mods... I'm sorry to sound like I'm trying to start a fire in the comments section, but for one second everyone just sit and think about why you're watching this video; you either like the creator, or you like Halo. If it's the latter, why do you like Halo? For love service? To hate on the community/developers? Or because it's what you had so long ago? The game's never disappeared. Join a Halo discord server, and it's like it's 2009 all over again. Love you all, stay strong.

The only way forward for 343 at this point is if they start working on a new halo game and drop infinite all together And it needs to have MASSIVE overhauls. -scrap and re-do halo infinite’s story. -have DLC ready within 1 year -completely new weapon sandbox -Complete cross core -playable elites -forge, firefight, customs at launch This is literally the ONLY way they can fix everything.

Halo is done for there is honestly no hope I'm honestly not even gonna try and be optimistic at this point

I'm just hoping infinite does make a recovery because when I do go on for fun occasionally now, its my favourite gunplay in the series, just moving and shooting feels good and the general look of the game is great I just want the game to get where it needs to be and I have hope of that now the leadership has been changed. I'm hoping the future seasons deliver substantial updates but if they don't well I just won't play much unless I feel like it

This is why i will be making my own halo stories. I will make halo great again. I got around 4 planned series with full stories. Maybe you can be a voice actor once my animation quality is worthy enough to host halo content

There is a fun MCC workshop mod called New Covenant. Takes place after the events of Halo 3 and is a Halo 3 Mod. Could Technically even be cannon! because we don't know wtf happened after Halo 3. Recommend trying it.
