Why Arya Killing the Night King is Perfect - Death is the Enemy (Game of Thrones)

The Long Night is one of the greatest episodes I've seen in any TV show. The entire sequence, starting when that piano hits... from Sansa taking out a dragonglass and Tyrion looking so helpless then kisses her hand... to the Night King arriving in the godswood and staring at Bran...
And in those moments, I have forgotten about Arya, thinking her scene was done... so when she appeared out of nowhere (I mean, Jaqen, the faceless man, appeared out of nowhere like that in "Valar Morghulis"), I was in awe with anticipation, every emotion I have ever felt was there, ranging from "Yesss" to "Oh nooo," until she finally stabbed him and the character shattered. I was beyond relieved, just like how Arya felt at the end. It was one of the most breathtaking moments I've ever seen. You have no idea how intense and then bleak, and then hopeful again watching that whole episode. It was simply perfect.

The Night King - 0%
The Red Woman - 0%
Edit/Update: I have a new theory why the Night King never saw Arya at all from the future-if he can indeed see bits and fragments, at least, like Bran-solely because she was meant to go to King's Landing. But changed course when Hot Pie told her about Jon Snow.
Remember when Bran reunited with Arya at the godswood (S7E4), he mentioned, "I thought you'd go to King's Landing." The new Three-Eyed Raven was totally convinced she was heading there, but now that she's in Winterfell, this must be how he "manipulated" the events and "controlled" the future outcome without the Night King ever knowing she would be the one to kill him.
Who do you think is the Lord of Light? I once had an idea that it might be the Night King, but thinking about it now and after re-watching all the episodes for the umpteenth time, I am a bit certain it was... let's see shall we.
I always thought the gods in Westeros/Essos don't exist. Only magic from the Children of the Forest and impeccable bloodlines (like the Starks, Faceless Men, etc.) that were descendants from the Children and the First Men/Andals. The people who possessed warg, necromancy, and the sight have abilities that can enter and see from the eyes of the animals (humans if it's very powerful like Bran) and weirwood tree, and also can witness the past, present, and fragments of the future. The only candidates were the Night King and the Three-Eyed Raven. Therefore, I conclude, with little certainty, that the Lord of Light (which the worshipers thought he is real and the one true god, but not really) is Bran the Broken/Three-Eyed Raven.
But to quote Beric Dondarrion, I don't think it's our purpose to understand, maybe that's enough. #gameofthrones #lordoflight #arya #nightking

Arya killing the night king is a narrative dead end because it literally does nothing for her story. Stopping the NK didn't even take truly facing your death in the end, just becoming an unstoppable magic chosen one ninja assassin out of nowhere.
People will never get over the ending. Issue is it's not an alternate ending, it Is the ending. It was poorly done for sure but it is how the story end and how the books would end. If you thought it would be a happy ending with Jon saving the day with Daenerys being queen and them living a happy life and having many children you've not been paying attention. It's not a fairy tale it's dark fantasy.

Tbh the ending tried way to happy to be ignoring all the dothraki who will now kill and rape now their queen is dead, other kingdoms demanding independence after north, kingdom's debt etc
What an amazing editing. Keep up the good work man! 🙌🙌
Beautifully edited. Thank you 🙏
Thank God you're back! I missed your videos.
Always such excellent choices
Perfect example of show don't tell.
100% Jon Snow was set up to kill the Night King if the books continued 😂

Or is it like the lich king in Warcraft where someone has to take the place of the night king

Well I mean how is Jon gonna compete with someone who can javelin throw an ice spike through a dragon I really don’t think anyone from any era can run a 1v1 straight up with this guy unless it’s different in the books

@@rileywalsh9567 I would never say Jon could’ve beaten the Night King 1v1. However, he could get lucky almost like the assassin girl but would’ve had a better advantage and would’ve been a much more realistic scenario. The big bad guy is beating everyone up then engages in a sword fight with Jon. At this point and time Daenarys has the Red Dragon blow away the face-tree (where the Night King was stabbed to the tree and created) then the Night King either dies from that or severely weakened and Jon has Vaelaryin Steel and kills him. It would’ve made a better story and more believable than him being snuck up on and stabbed by a little assassin girl who is a secondary character. I mean sure it’s not as generic but that’s lame the way he died

@@rileywalsh9567 I agree with you on that one. They would’ve had more time to prepare
I have to dissagree with most of these comments, even though I do respect them. I honestly thought Arya killing the NK was bloody brilliant. Okay yeah we ALL expected Jon to do it and perhaps Jamie wouldve been a great choice too but the fact it was Arya I feel, just my personal opinion, was epic. It made all her training and suffering worth while. Not everything in season 8 was utter balls and this choice, for me anyway, was superb. Thanks for this brilliant video. Its good to finally see another who appreciates this decision. Love and respect to you all..... Blessings xoxox 🌹

Arya killing the NK makes sense to certain extent. But it doesn't do justice to all the concept of "Song of Ice and FIre", a prophecy passed on from Aegon the first. If he could forsee the rise of a dark power even thousands of years ago, surey his visions meant something. It doesn't explain why Jon was resurrected. The writters didn't give enough importance to the gods and prophecies.
6:47 what did he say?
dude, your supercuts are so eye opening. i never realized that the red woman was telling arya that she could kill the night king. good shit man. also, i read your description, and i'm curious as to why you didn't include littlefinger as a potential lord of the light.

Thanks. Did you watch this video recently? ‘Cause it’s been re-edited thru KZread’s editor to avoid being blocked. Some of the cuts are random or unclean. Umm, never did it cross my mind Littlefinger was the Lord of Light. That’s an interesting one.

she wasnt, it was a last minute stretch and presumption by fans who know nothing of narrative context, like this channel
@trapidtrap2612

She really wasnt. She named multiple eye colours. Arya has killed multiple people with blue eyes. Its like saying "She said she'd kill a man with a scar on his face. Oh I know! Your gonna kill the main antagonist who has a tiny scar on his cheek. Not like you're already set out to kill a man with a massive scar going down his eye!"

@@trapidtrap2612she literally was, that's a damn fact!
It was always Arya, always.
Was never her plot and made zero sense. It’s the equivalent of Legalos doing a back flip into mount doom while throwing the ring into the fire. Ruined the show
I really have to disagree with that description. I recommend Glidus's entire channel for GoT analysis.
Arya was my favorite character in the whole series. Great video!
The folks who think GoT was the Jon Snow show are going to hate this.
John would have never been able to kill the night king cause to be fair he isn't as good as Arya.

@@SShambler Well, in my opinion the White Walkers should won. But I know that this option was not possible, so... the answer is obvious: Jon and Daenerys. The Ice and Fire. A song of Ice and Fire. Remember?
@jakyhussain2461

@@fernandomarrufocortes5137 The song of Ice and fire not necessarily indicates Jon and Daenerys. It's probably just about Jon, as he is the son of a Targaryen and Stark. The prophecy states - From my blood come the prince that was promised and his will be the song of ice and fire.
@jademorgan4325

@jakyhussain2461 even by that logic, Jon still should have killed the Night King solely based off his resurrection alone. Otherwise, why the prophecy and him coming back? It was truly the biggest letdown
