Don't forget Ransdale didn't have Saliba for the second half of the season which had a huge impact on everything he did . Holding is nowhere near Saliba's level in any department. Things went south when we lost Saliba and Partey. I wonder what affect losing Saliba and Rice would have on Raya and don't forget Raya mishandled the ball in the Tottnumb match by putting the ball back into the midle of the box instead of out for a corner. He makes mistakes and that 1 cost us 2 points.

​@@thearsenalmisfit2414 Saliba was only out for the last 6 games. Ramsdale is not good at distributions. Good distributions will make the defence stable and recieve less attacks and also minimizes unnecessory errors. So in this case Ramsdale doesnt suit Arsenal style of play. Yes he saved Arsenal 1 or 2 games but that was down to unstable defence.

I'm actually glad this signing was made. I trust him

@@dunuobinna7574 it was always the feeling of “what if” with Ramsdale I think. I always had the feeling that if a team caught us on the break Ramsdale would gift them a goal. But look at raya for instance, last night against Sheffield they got a break (although it was offside) raya came off his line with a fab save. Ramsdale would have let that in. Artetas talent ID is just too good, and raya will win us a trophy 🔥🔥

He's getting better and better. Defence is so much more calm with him. Had a couple stinkers early on, but all keepers do.

I always welcomed Raya coming in to compete with Ramsdale. The media, pundits and fans placed a lot of pressure on Raya. He started off nervy with the pressure of Ramsdale being a fan favourite, but prior to Arsenal he was exceptional at Brentford. People forget Raya was always Arteta's first choice. We couldn't sign him at the time so we signed Ramsdale. Now that Raya has settled in, he gives the backline a lot more belief and confidence. Despite Raya being the shorter man, he actually catches more balls from corners and set plays. Ramsdale tends to rush out and punch the ball, thus giving the opponent possession again. Catching the ball allows us to quickly counter with an outlet throw from Raya. Trust the manager. Trust the process!

Raya’s calmness on the goal makes the defenders work more easy…I was always worried about crosses with Rambo at the back but not anymore.

Let's not forget that Ramsdale replaced Leno close to the same situation he's in now.

Raya is so much better than Ramsdale. Raya can play as an extra defender in possession, offering passing options, creating numerical advantage. Keeping possession so that we can maximise the quality and quantity of our possession, ball progression and chance creation, which would eventually turns into goals. Attract the opponent to press him so there will be an unmarked teammate elsewhere, breaking the opponent’s press. Have better vision, game reading and decision making on when to pass slow/fast, when to go long/short, dictating the tempo at the back. Has better long and short pass accuracy. Playing tiki taka passes. Silky with his touches, close control, dribbling and passes. If any team wanted to improve towards the very top in modern football, they will have to eventually sign a ball playing goalkeeper. Bravo and Onana might not be the final answer, but JoeHart and DeGea must be replaced.

Ramsdale used to panic when he was on the ball thus kicking long kicks aimlessly....the guy was never calm....he always plays like he is under extreme pressure from nowhere.....i was saying this since last season i dont know whats wrong with Arsenal fans or they dont watch and analyse players. They are all too emotional on certain players.. Raya brings calmness and composure to the defence which minimise unnecessory errors. The only down side of his game is he is not good at savings.

@@2daysago_ Arsenal Fans will always scream for Ramsdale to start again cah he’s English and he’s a very popular figure around the club with players and fans both, but if Arteta don’t make ruthless decisions they’ll ask “is he the man for the job going forward?” Being an Arsenal fan sometimes it’s confusing and you gotta ignore the noise, Raya in the past few weeks is beginning to show why we brought him in, especially his distribution from catches and how quick he is with those throws/kicks

Raya would not survive in last season Arsenal . He looks good because the defense has been imperious . I don’t remember the last time he faced a shot in the last 4 games . He looks good cleaning up

@@uri-uf5hdare you having laugh the reason why part of the defence is imperious is because of him too even saves he makes phenomenal saves. Ramsdale tends to palm or punch away saves sometimes towards opposition Raya mostly dives and holds the ball and in crosses is miles ahead of most keepers in the prem and that’s an underrated part of goalkeeping. A lot of goals that we conceded in set pieces when Ramsdale was in goal was from nothing crosses the reason Raya looks like he doesn’t have much to do is because when ever ge is being called upon whether it’s a save or a pass out from the back or collecting a cross he makes it look easy. Know the difference between someone who makes something hard look easy and someone who Ho makes something simple look spectacular

I don’t remember the last time Raya faced a direct shot . He has been good but more credit has to go to the centerbacks ,ben white and Rice

I love Rammerz & although I think the difference in improvement doesn't seem dramatic - I do think we are better with Raya in goal. That being said, Aarons a future England no1 & both keepers still have alot of room to improve. In a way, it's a shame we are so gifted in having 2 top tier keepers rn. After the summer, I doubt we'll see it again & I do worry a bit about seeing Aaron play for a rival & who we can replace him with...

I love Ramsdale. I do think it's an unfair situation on him....however. Raya offers us much more in the way we play. He has shown (since settling more in the side) what he can offer to the team. Hes more comfortable with the ball at his feet and his distribution is brilliant! I do feel that since Ramsdale had that interview, where he said he sometimes struggles with his focus, was probably the worst thing he could have done and probably ttok away some faith that Arteta has in him. Either way, if Ramsdale is to leave in the summer, i would wish him well as he is a brilliant goalkeeper and deserves success!.....i just hope it isnt at a big rival of ours 😅

We didn't happen to pick an insane cross claimer just as a random trait either. With how insane our defensive structure is, its just more likely for teams to try to put more crosses into the box rather than trying to play through us. Arteta anticipated this would be happening and picked the perfect player for it.

I don't think Ramsdale is "popular" just because he is English. He got as much stick from the fans when Arsenal signed him. Fans clearly feel Leno was a better keeper at that time. But the main reason we sign Ramsdale is because he is better than Leno with his foot. The same can be said with Raya now

I agree That Raya is a better fit for what we want to do right now and is probably the better keeper my only concern is Ramsdale is still a baby in keeper terms and if he gets the right move I can see him in 2 or 3 years being one of the very best in europe. He has a very high ceiling.

I also think that Raya is stepping stone for Areta's system due to the fact that is 6,0ft and their are better keeper's out their like Brighton's new number 1 keeper is good on the ball n his tall n young, their's also Simon from Spain who's the same age but taller than Raya so.... I believe is but foot note in Areta's plans also Allison is available due to Liverpool instability of klop's exit... would be perfect in the Aresnal set up

Blame the English, who constantly overhype their players an stick ridiculous valuations on them, Grealish, Maguire and Mount are prime examples...

I feel more comfortable with Raya’s catching ability

Ramsdale is a better shot stopper and better in the air, but Raya’s distribution is better. Personally I’d prefer my keeper to be the former over the latter, but in the end, it’s Arteta’s club and system. If he feels Raya’s play out of the back makes up for his smaller size, dodgy positioning, and occasional leaked goals, it’s his decision as manager. But after last season, only silverware will convince me he made the correct move.

I can doubt even pep changes his goalkeeper and I dunno why arteta was criticized so much. Yes Aaron fan favorite but we need what will improve the team. The reason raya is better is because he suits arteta style of play. He is quick to throw or kick the ball to start Arsenal attack. Ramsdale is a better shot stopper & has a bigger physique .

Better physique? Ramsdale is so poor in set pieces and crosses which was the main reason why Raya was bought... Ramsdale pretty much lost us the title when we conceded those silly points due to ramsdale not being able to handle crosses and always bullied during corners by the opponent. Raya would always try to intercept or command his box when crosses comes flying into his 6 yard box

Nobody is talking about Ramsdale anymore. Centiment doesn't win matches or trophies. Raya is clearly a better keeper both with hands and feet. That's not to say Ramsdale is not a good keeper.

David Raya playing as a no 1 is to Aaron Ramsdale's good. I believe he will come back stronger and better. Arteta loves him

So quite frankly we should merge Ramsdale and Raya to create the ultimate goalkeeper

It's been a decent start for Raya, but he's come in at a time where we're better in defence. Could Rammers have performed the same in those games? We'll never know, but I believe the answer to be 'yes'.

He makes accurate throws so of course the kicking stats will be misleading....Ramsdale is a better shot stopper but Raya is overall better for the defense and offense.

Raya is better on his feet he can control the ball like an outfield player and play out from the back like an outfield player

I think watching brentford last season already tells me how good Raya is, definitely better than rambo imo. I love ramsdale, want him to get better than raya, but can't shake the feeling he's bound to make mistake by making wrong decision to approach the ball or failed to punch the ball while raya can quickly catch and throw the ball long

Ramsdale has better PR and people liked him as a person. Statistically Raya is catching crosses at a rate that's over DOUBLE Ramsdale. He is much better with his feet and releasing fast throws. Simple as that

Martinez spent most of his Arsenal career on loan in lower league clubs and Arteta could not promise him the number one spot with Leno returning from injury. Leno had been Leverkusen's first choice GK for years, Martinez for only a few months. I personally think they should've let Leno go instead of Martinez, but I get why MA could not guarantee Martinez the number one spot.

TBH I’m not enough of an expert to make the call after half a season. In the end only lifting trophies will settle the matter.

Ramsdale himself admitted that he loses concentration and is not a good saver of the ball. Raya is fsr better than Ramsdale and you are only feeling pity for him, which is not what we need right now.

Ramsdale has no confidence because of the Raya situation. He also doesn't save penalties. I do like him but he'll likely go to another club

Raya doesn't get tested because: (1) He PROACTIVELY claims crosses to prevent shots and rebound shots inside our box, unlike Ramsdale who just sits on his line waiting for a camera save. (2) Our build-up is better with Raya and his calmness spreads/"transmits" to our defenders and midfilders to be calmer during build-up under opposition high-press. So opponents get even less attempts at our goal compared to Ramsdale's presence. (3) "Declan Rice effect" makes us concede less shots. Now compare it to each game Ramsdale has played THIS season.....defender own goal from a set-piece in every cup game Ramsdale played where we were knocked out, our own defenders don't trust Ramsdale. Go rewatch how dodgy Ramsdale was in that entire Brentford (A) PL game this season. Ramsdale "transmits" (Arteta's words) stress / chaos to our defence.

@@yahiamohamed7809 "almost" doesnt matter so lets wipe that away first. spurs was not his fault he had to deal with the cross somehow and thats the best that he could deal with it its the fault of saka and poor marking afterwards. chelsea is unlucky thats a once in 100 games thing, luton game it was rice fault for adebayo only one i agree with is newcastle but every keeper makes wrong decisions. anyways whats ur opinion on ederson? i mean he just made that mistake against copenhagen should he be sold now?

@@anthrax6835 Chelsea is not 1 in 100 he is positioning is always awful and if any clever player notices can easily get him The spurs one just cuz saka made a mistake don't try doesn't mean that Raya didn't fit rid of it well he didn't even really jump he definitely could have done much better Also luton was 100% his fault you can't he beaten in the air as a goalie and you are trying to tell me he is even good at crosses? he also let in another silly goal that game And you completely ignored the Newcastle goal

You won't be saying that when he can't stop shots that are just out of his reach because of his small size. As for his grabbing crosses in pretty much all cases there has been no one to stop him. He runs into trouble in crowds again because of his small size. His successes are based on the work of our great back 4 that are not allowing tons to preasure to be put on him. He crumbled earlier in the season when he preasured hard by the likes of Tottnumb and Chelsea where he cost us 4 points and could have cost us another 3 against City but for the football gods intervention. We could have be 2 nil down 30 seconds into the second half. Right now I have not seen Raya do anything that is a huge improvement on what Ramsdale has given and Raya has yet to make me say WOW what a save like Ramsdale did twice in the community shield alone. Had Raya not been loaned to us I think we take the 4 lost points back from Tottnumb with Ramsdale and we are top of league today by 2 points. If you want to beat Arsenal today put preasure on Raya when crossing the ball and on corners his lack of size will hurt him . When he gets dumped and cannot get to the ball he starts to retreat back to his goal line and he becomes less effective for the rest of the match. As for the 2 quick throws up the pitch we have seen Ramsdale do this as well but this season he didnt because he was under orgers not as it ment that we progressed the ball up the pitch to quickly which was against Arteta's slow build up style. Like you said in earlier videos that 30 mil plus the 10 to replace Ramsdale could be used mutch better on a Striker,RW, Midfielder or CB, place where we really need the help. Keeper was not a priority. With the prices of players coming down because of the PSR rules squeezing clubs that 40 mil will go a lot further this summer than it did last summer. For me this 40 mil hit can be added to the wasted money pile bringing the total to 150 mil in 4 1/2 years Edu and Arteta.

Do you know what is risk taking? As a goalie, if you always play long passes, you will never make a passing mistake to cost a goal. If you play out from the back, you would generate possession, which would eventually turn into chances and goals. But you are also accepting the risk that occasionally, you would pass the ball to the opponent striker by mistake. If you don’t take the small risks, you would never get the big benefits. If you want to take the risk, then stop complaining about the rare mistakes, because it is expected to happen.
