Baker’s tip for anyone wanting to recreate this: Before mixing the M&Ms and the egg, freeze the candies first, then toss them in a bit of flour before moving on to the egg part. The condensation on the M&Ms will allow the flour to stick better, and when coated, the candies won’t then all sink to the bottom of the pan during baking!

Advice: mix the eggs, then add the cake mix and mix again and THEN add the M&Ms, it'll be much easier that way. Also, you don't need two cutting boards to flip the cake, just flip it with your hands, the cake isn't going to fall out in the second you're flipping.

Mix the M&Ms in very last, right before you pour it into the pans. It'll keep the colors from bleeding out into the batter. The taste will be the same, but it'll be even prettier to look at.

This is kind of just bad baking though. There nothing wrong with showing mistakes. But nothing about this video is useful or practical advice. All they did was put m&ms into pre-made cake mix. They didn’t even do it the right way, which is adding in the m&ms after forming the cake batter. If it wasn’t supposed to be a tutorial, there would be nothing wrong with it. But they’re trying to “teach” people, and they’re doing a very bad job at it.

I mean, they can do what they want. I’m no authoritative figure to them. But if they don’t know what they’re doing, which clearly is the case, they should say so. It’s inherently wrong what they’re doing, but it is kind of misleading.

Honestly, I really liked this! It’s not like those stupid tasty or other little content farms. There it is so clearly faked and produced to simply make content. It was two guys in a kitchen fumbling. It was awesome! It was relatable! I would watch this again 10/10 and might even try this. 😂

I don't think I've ever seen a cake as dry and spongy as this one. Not to mention the fact that they literally just made us watch them make a boxed cake but with m&ms and then called it a "hack"

I was mortified watching the m&m being mixed with the eggs and thinking that they're fucking stupid. But watching the whole video, it's just two dudes baking together and having a good ol' time. It's quite wholesome.

"Gotta bake the salmonella out" The cake flour is probably more dangerous to eat raw than the eggs. American eggs are pasteurized and washed to death and back to make sure they're safe. Its why you can eat mayonnaise, which is made from raw eggs. Flour on the other hand comes from wheat which is often fertilized with manure, which can carry deadly e. coli bacteria. Wheat isn't washed before processing into flour and cross-contamination with the manure is much higher, so there's a much higher chance to get sick from it than from the eggs.

I don't know what it's called but I think it's a calls scraper. My aunt has a cake selling business and I usually help. all the bakers here know what it is. It's a tool with a slit. You go around the edges with it then it pops out perfectly

When you need to literally paint the batter into the cake pan, that's usually an indicator that the cake is going to come out SUPER DRY. Good idea, maybe just add a bit of oil to the batter next time :)
