Why Are There So Many Foreigners In The Arctic? | Svalbard, Ep 1
Svalbard is an archipelago of islands in the Arctic, 600 miles south of the North Pole. It's home to people from all over the world. And thanks to a twist of fate on my first trip in 2017, I began to wonder. Why were there so many foreigners in the Arctic? This is the first question I would ever ask in my travels up north, and the first question I am answering this season. Now I'm back in one of my favorite places, talking to locals to learn the local history, and understand why. Why do they live so far north?
This episode was filmed in Longyearbyen in 2022.

Svalbard was only inhabited permanently beginning in the early 20th century, so you can argue everybody is a foreigner there
This is amazing!

@@anordicheart sure thing😁 I would love that! I'm drawing a lot of Svalbard's nature. Maybe I'll have done some cool work until then.
